5.0 out of 5 stars "If it's a comeback you want then get your hands raised", October 9, 2012
This review is from: Glad All Over (MP3 Music)
I've been eagerly awaiting this release for some time. It's been seven long years since the last Wallflowers album and although Jakob Dylan's two solo releases in the interim were pleasant enough, I have really missed this band. Happily, the new album was well worth the wait. All the band members sound thoroughly rebooted and energized. The lyrics and arrangements are of typical excellence. Indeed, all the songs range from good to great; there's not a misfire among them (the best track being, in my opinion, "Misfits and Lovers"). In short, I'm glad all over!

5.0 out of 5 stars Floating in a most peculiar way, October 11, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Seeking Major Tom (Audio CD)
This album defies the conventional rating system. It is beyond the stars (in more ways than one). It is an otherworldy entity, neither good nor bad and ultimately unfathomable. Yet, I must try to fathom it, if only for the purposes of this review. What Shatner has done here has never been done before and will likely never be done again. It is like having your brain sucked out an airlock and then splattered across the windshield of a space shuttle (but in a fun way). As with gravity, the pull of "Seeking Major Tom" is inescapable. All should experience it. All will experience it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Still the best, October 5, 2009
This review is from: Closer to the Bone (Audio CD)
Kris Kristofferson is one of American's greatest songwriters, he is part of that elite group that includes masters such as Bob Dylan and Townes Van Zandt. Kristofferson's voice has always been a rough and limited instrument, he once likened his own singing to the croaking of a frog, but in spite of this (or perhaps because of it) he manages to transmit a sense of true significance and meaning through the performances of his songs in a way that a pretty-but-empty, american idol-esque voice could never replicate. When Kristofferson sings, its not to show off an impressive range through various vocal acrobatics, but rather to communicate some truth, something of importance to his audience.

This latest release maintains the high level of excellence that one has come to expect of Kristofferson. "Closer to the Bone" can legitimately stand alongside the best of Kristofferson's vast catalogue. It is perhaps more quiet and contemplative than his early masterpieces, but that is perfectly reasonable given Kristofferson's age and the accompanying realization that there are more days behind than there are ahead. Nonetheless, when all is said and done, he is still the best!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great!, September 27, 2009
Guy Clark is a consistently impressive songwriter and he has been putting out amazing albums since the 70s. This latest effort is no different. Every song on "Somedays The Song Writes You" is a winner and Clark's rough, cigarette ravaged voice always accentuates the power of these songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars All Good Things..., May 3, 2009
This review is from: Boston Legal: Season 5 (DVD)
This is the final season of Boston Legal, one of the most intelligent and funny shows ever to air. It will be sorely missed by those desiring tv shows with actual substance, but judging by the continued popularity of dreck such as American Idol and Dancing with the Stars those people are few and far between.

The fifth season is wonderful, albeit short. Aside from the slightly awkward "Thanksgiving" there is not a weak episode to be found. I highly recommend this and all other seasons of Boston Legal.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quality Stuff!, July 18, 2005
This is a good collection of early Johnny Cash songs and I have found it to be enjoyable for the most part. The bonus DVD is called the Pride of Jesse Hallam and is a very nice extra. Certainly this set is a worthy purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars All I can say is...WOW!, March 19, 2005
This movie is an absolute must-see! It's probably one of the funniest films I have ever been fortunate enough to view and I can't reccomend it enough. The story line has been covered extensively by the other reviewers here and I see no reason to repeat what's already been done. Suffice it to say, the story is unique beyond your wildest dreams. So, just do yourself a favor and go out RIGHT NOW to purchase it!
