4.0 out of 5 stars Great ending, March 12, 2014

This review is from: Breakers (Book 1) (Kindle Edition)
Was a little predictable plot line for most of the book and a couple of times I nearly stopped and gave up, but the ending is pretty good and the characters end up redeeming themselves.

present day urban fantasy that details mystical creatures. Characters are well developed and plenty of action. Great second edition to the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good!, October 20, 2013
Patricia Briggs happens to be one of my favorite authors and she really hit it out of the park with this series as an off-shoot of the Mercy Thompson books. Characters are well developed - great plot. Can't put it down!

2.0 out of 5 stars Poorly developed characters, October 20, 2013
So if you like silly characters that think about as deep as a puddle this book is for you. Good concept - poorly executed. The main character doesn't seem to have any rooted principles or beliefs and she ends up acting one way one moment and a different way another with sex scenes slipped in to sell some books.

4.0 out of 5 stars Only read it for the Alpha & Omega Series by Briggs, July 8, 2012
I only read the short story by Patricia Briggs - as it is the only place that the short story that started the Alpha and Omega series was published. I can say it was worth the $$ if only for that part of the book! Great Read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Peak at Sedish Culture in a Fantastic Book Series, July 8, 2012

Even the "good guys" in this tale are difficult to like initially. By the end of the first book - the author has you hooked on the questionable morale decisions by the charatcters. Initially difficult to get the authors writing method down - maybe because it was originally written in Swedish and a lot of the names are similiar and you aren't quite sure how to pronounce them. Once you get past that and a few extremely graphic/violent scenes in the first book - you really end up liking the story. I found I really enjoyed the differences that were apparent between the suthor's protraital of freedom of speech/judicial system in Sweden and that of the United States. A great action packed, very well written, with plot twists and turns the whole way! Really was a great read!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Read, July 8, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book is about a world traveling female bishop who inadvertently gets tossed into a whirlwind adventure of international intrigue. As a favor to the Vice President she agrees to secretly deliver a letter to a NATO military figure while on a fact-finding mission to Sarajevo. When the NATO person is assassinated right after he gets this secret communication from The President - she takes on a very interesting journey to save the President of the United States and outing a traitor in the White House.

The book is a very good read and is fast paced. It has many religious under-tones - but isn't so religious to be off-putting. No gratuitous violence and I would probably let my 11 year old read the book as good old fashioned story of good versus evil. There is a dig on President Bush and it has a general anti-war theme; however it isn't overdone to make you feel that the author has a political ax to grind. Overall well done and would read again!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Bouncer - Great Value, December 3, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased this for my daughter that was born in July. She is now 4 months old and weighs 13 lbs.

Assembly: The item was easy for me to assemble and took approximately 10-15 minutes (including time to find a screwdriver for the battery cover).

Construction: The base and the structure are very solid. There are non-skid pads on the bottom of the base - but you should NEVER put one of these on a table with a child in it. So I don't know if they work well because we use it on the floor. The mobile - my mom keeps thinking it's a handle and it pops off if you try to pick the unit up by it - I am assuming to prevent breakage, however now that it has been removed so many times it pops off really easily. The fabric is good quality and the harness is good quality construction.

Actual Use:
This was great for my daughter when she was first born - it was nice to be able to place her in it while I was doing dishes, etc.

The padded interior insert can be removed, so minor diaper leaks you only have to wash that part; which is nice, however we have never had a minor diaper leak that resulted in not washing the harness that goes between the legs - which is attached not to the insert; so you end up having to wash the whole thing anyway.

The music has 2 settings and it turns off after paying once. I have never had a problem with that. The vibration however seems to run for quite a while longer - but will turn off on it's own if you forget. The unit takes two 2 "C" batteries - we haven't replaced them yet - but I don't use the vibration/music very often.

The mobile - glad it's removable - because the way it comes up the hanging toys are nearly in my daughters face & she doesn't really play with them at all. We don't use this at all anymore.

2 recline settings - this is great because now that she is older we can set ii more upright so she can see around more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice - needs to be larger, September 23, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I use these under baby while she is sleeping in our bed - it has saved our mattress numerous times. It would be nice if they were larger. Wash well on hot / dry on high. I haven't noticed any fading yet after 9 weeks of use.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Quality - wrinkles easily, September 23, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I hate ironing and this is a shirt that has to be ironed. It does run large - my son wears a large in mens - but I bought a medium and it fit him fine. He really likes the shirt - my only complaint is that it wrinkles easily; count on sending it to the cleaners.
