A part of Australia that usually gets thrown over in literature for sheep and paddocks. We need more books like this.

This review is from: The Tribe (Kindle Edition)
A slice of Sydney, and a look into a world I'd only ever seen from the outside. The writing is refreshing and honest

I liked this novel at first but the characters all seem to be the same person- white and bland and heterosexual. It would have been nice to see some relatable characters, especially since there were so many.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Australian literature, September 26, 2012

Easy to read without being flippant, deals with fairly complex emotional themes without being bogged down. I read this right after moving to Japan and it helped my homesickness enormously, there are some wonderful paeans to the bush landscape without being sentimental in them. Highly recommended for expats ;)

He has such a unique style that's perfect for memoir. There's a lot of wit here even when he's describing grim things. So so interesting
