Get in Trouble: Stories
Get in Trouble: Stories
by Kelly Link
Edition: Hardcover
Price: $18.63

5.0 out of 5 stars An interesting trip...., December 16, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Reading this collection of short stories is like watching someone else's dreams/nightmares. The stories are surreal, at times confusing, occasionally nightmarish and completely trippy. Plot summaries will not do these stories any justice, but to give a flavor consider Valley of the Girls which is something like a hybrid of ancient Egypt and modern day drug addled aristocracy. The stories consistently revolve around a hero or heroine going someplace risky and then you wait to see what happens. In many of the stories the suspense works really well but in others like Valley of the Girls, the reader may get lost trying to just follow along. Many of the stories do not have a real resolution (most feel like driving off a cliff). So, if you want to see some truly strange dreamscapes this book is nothing short of amazing but if you want a traditional set of short stories with the typical structure of introduction, body and conclusion this book will leave you somewhere between disturbed and disgruntled.

Being Human (U.S.) Season 2
Being Human (U.S.) Season 2

Price: $19.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Good stuff, December 15, 2014
Some of the novelty has warn off and the acting is not as strong as the first season but this is still great TV. The characters continue to grow and the plot arcs are interesting. If you liked the first season you will enjoy this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not campy, December 15, 2014
How can a show with a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost as leads not be campy? The answer is the excellent writing and good to superb acting in Being Human. I knew nothing about the show and chose it on a whim and was completely hooked after the 3rd episode. The pace is nice and brisk and there are plenty of "I saw that coming" plot twists which are twisted and bent in ways that you will not expect. This is consistently fun and occasionally thought provoking. While there are a few excellent action scenes this show is about plot and character development punctuated with bits of violence. So, if you like your vampires and werewolfs cerebral give this a watch. If you mostly want mixed martial arts, lots of ultraviolence, and mayhem skip this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not a lot of innovation since the previous game, but that's not a bad thing, December 14, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Far Cry 4 feels like less of a sequel and more like an expansion of Far Cry 3, but on a much greater and more polished scale. While there is a bit of a step back in the writing and character development, FC4's GIANT new world creates the same (if not familiar) feeling of immersion I felt 2 years ago.

Playing as Ajay feels a lot like playing Jason from the previous game. Get abducted by the main bad guy, escape his camp, join a group of rebels, start liberating the island, fly around with a wingsuit, blah blah blah. It's extremely familiar but with a layer of paint so great you don't really care or notice. The new open map is nothing short of mind boggling, with attention down to every patch of forest and tons of detail in the snowy hills above you for most of the game. The fictional country of Kyrat is the best open world I have ever visited in a video game, and it's really a character of its own in a title like this.

Also returning is the laundry list of options on how to approach a situation. Do you snipe everyone in sight from on top of a cliff? Sneak in and thoughtfully take out one enemy at a time? Or run in through the front door with explosives and big guns? This applies to hunting both man and beast, as the hunting and crafting system also returns in a more simplified way, making it more obvious what you need in order to craft important items for your journey. Your arsenal will feel very familiar to you if you played the previous title, too, and I wish Ubisoft had taken the time to add a few new things to play with.

Multiplayer is also back in the form of Coop and competitive multiplayer, along with the map creator. The PS4 edition also includes 10 free passes for your friends to jump in and join you if you don't want to play with the useless AI partners the game otherwise offers you. Competitive multiplayer allows two teams to go at it in the beautiful world and fight over various objectives. Again, this all rings the same bells as before, but there's really nothing wrong with any of it, so I don't have a problem with it.

Far Cry 4 is a LOT like it's predecessor, but if you were a fan of the the previous game, definitely pick this one up.
...And yes, you can ride elephants.

Amazon Kindle 5W USB Power Adapter
Amazon Kindle 5W USB Power Adapter
Price: $19.99

3.0 out of 5 stars Takes lots of space but it works nicely, December 14, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The prongs fold flat on this adapter so it is convenient for travel. However, it takes up a lot of space on the plug/surge-bar and the USB cable fits into the top of the plug so this needs to be in the top plug on your wall. The adapter that came with my Kindle DX took up next to no space on the wall and the USB plugged outward instead of up. So, it was easier to plug in while traveling... This works but the old one had a better design.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good cover for a little extra weight, December 14, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This case fits perfectly and the "automatic on" when the case opens is great. With the cover folded behind the reader it is easy to hold but the weight is notable. The cover stays closed and the construction feels sturdy. So, at the cost of a little weight this will help keep your kindle intact.

5.0 out of 5 stars Huge upgrade from a first generation Kindle DX, December 14, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I recently got this as an upgrade to my old Kindle DX and I am totally happy with the purchase. The display is perfectly clear and the lighting is consistent. Coming from a DX the display is small but the quality is so high and it is so light that it was a great buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Heavy but it works nicely, December 14, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Fill this up and you will get great tasting water. That said, there are two down sides to this model. The first is easy to predict with a 10 cup Brita pitcher ... it is very heavy when full. If you don't keep it filled you have the second problem... when you poor the last of the water out the lid will fall off into your water glass. My old Brita did not have that problem. So this works nicely to purify your water but you may want to consider getting a smaller/lighter model if you don't want to lug around all the weight.

Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook, Fifth Edition: Over 500 Delicious Recipes for the Healthy Cook's Kitchen
Weight Watchers New Complete Cookbook, Fifth Edition: Over 500 Delicious Recipes for the Healthy Cook's Kitchen
by Weight Watchers
Edition: Loose Leaf
Price: $20.25

5.0 out of 5 stars A good easy cookbook, December 11, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This is an easy to read book that has excellent information that I was not expecting. Because this is a Weight Watchers cookbook I expected to see low calorie dishes and point information for people who are doing the program but it has things that I was not expecting including: a breakdown on the nutritional content of every dish, useful sections on planning events and general information on preparing food.

Across all the recipes I have read, the instructions are clear and easy to follow and the print is fairly large and in an easy to read font. The few pictures are lovely but there are not enough of them. I will not repeat what others have posted on the different sections of the cookbook instead I will point out that there are many things to choose from and the variety of the dishes is notable. If you want to expand your menu to include relatively simple healthy meals pick this up.

Trenro PS4 Thumb Grips Edge Series Pro
Trenro PS4 Thumb Grips Edge Series Pro
Price: $10.99

4.0 out of 5 stars A bit expensive for what they are, but serve their purpose well, December 4, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
While looking tacky with my all black Dualshock 4 controller, these thumb grips raise the joysticks up about a 1/4 of an inch to make you more accurate in shooters or to make more precise movements in platformers. In addition, the rubber bumps on the surface increase the traction of your thumbs, effectively making it harder to have your thumbs slip off in intense gunfights. After several hours of multiplayer on the new Call of Duty, Team Fortress 2, and I noticed my thumbs were making less of an effort to make long distance shots, and the sticks are easier to click in. Upon taking them off, the controller already felt awkward in my hands with the lower sticks.

Overall, these little pieces of rubber improve an already near perfect controller. Whether these improvements are worth the price is up to the buyer.
