5.0 out of 5 stars Im proud I own this one, June 2, 2004
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Concert For George Harrison (DVD)
Iam in a rush, Ive just seen the first disc (the complete concert) and Iam still amazed at how good this one is, the level of emotion and quelity just rise and rise nonstop, its climax? the very end, I felt I had to write about it right now, it might sound stupid but....I cry every 10 years or so, but the final song brought a small tear to my eye, IT IS moving, in a good way though.
The songs are beautifully performed, the guests are excellent (although I did miss bob dylan), these days is too hard to find tribute concerts so classy as this one.
I dont know if you will find this review useful or not, I just had to write about it. Hey, now I have to watch the second disc.

4.0 out of 5 stars yeah!!, May 28, 2004
This review is from: Queen II (Audio CD)
yes!! is that good, really one of the most complex and accomplished albums that the glorious queen has ever produced, its got hard rocking moments like ogro battle, white queen....epic tunes like the march of the black queen (one of their finest song ever) not ala bohemian rhapsody but very well executed indeed, you can ever hear a lot of heavy dark riffs ala early black sabbath, and everything together just work perfect, in the way only Queen could. First of all Queen started as a rock band, which in my heart will always be. If you love or want to discover Queen at its hardest, rocking sound try this, then the notably sheer heart attack and then news of the world. Then try the rest. You can trust me on this one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Texas, April 13, 2004
This review is from: Hush (Audio CD)
I dont want to talk about money, or something else (about the change of music between ricks road and white on blonde), I could call it "evolution", they just decided to update their music, I see no crime. MAybe the change was a bit too fast, but this is the way things are. Ricks road is a superb album, and the hush (after white on blonde) gave us a different Texas (not better not worse, just different). Nice production, electropop sounds, the blues influences are long gone, electronic arrangements, the guitar is no longer the star in Texas sound. The result is a pleasant one anyway, the melodies have the right arrangements, above all....they sound natural.
You have been warned, but I will never regret I bought it.

5.0 out of 5 stars well, his best., April 13, 2004

it might sound out of context, but, Billy has always been a devoted beatle fan, and during the recording of this album, you can clearly see their inspiration....the melodies, the sounds, it just reminds youy the beatles. No wonder why people think this is one (if not) his best album, not only because it has the beatle sound, Billy has his merits, certainly, he added his genius, which combined with the before mentioned inspiration, gave us the best Billy Joel music. I will let somebody else to write about the music........

5.0 out of 5 stars one of their finest..., April 11, 2004
This review is from: Sheer Heart Attack (Audio CD)
definitely if youre a queen beginner, you may not be familiar with this early queen jewel, despite the fact that it contains 2 concert staples (killer queen and now im here). However, the first half of the record present the heavy rock band that Queen originally was and we love so much, for instance you can hear the excellent brighton rock and the proto speed metal "stone cold crazy", just marvellous. The second half is a bit softer, but it remains its quelity, in a different way though, you can hear the catchy misfire, leroy brown,...there is practically no filler in here. All in all, not for a beginner, but if you like the art rock, heavy riffs band, that early queen was, you cant go wrong with this. Highly recomendable.
Try to get the european version, it comes without the bonus track (what were they thinking!!), just the original list.

4.0 out of 5 stars good enough to keep you clapping....., February 1, 2004
This review is from: Turfshow (Audio CD)
ok, the rock scene in Argentina has always been kind of avant garde in South america, and this relatively new band show it why, ok, this is no new stuff, everybody related with the buzzcocks or supergrass material, will have a good time with this funny band and its high spirited music....enjoy. "Loco un poco" might be one of the catchiest singles ever.....

5.0 out of 5 stars let it be......, December 28, 2003
This review is from: Let It Be... Naked (Audio CD)
To begin with.... no one owns te truth, but I am getting a bit tired of some nonsense reviews here, I dont mean to be offensive because after all everybody has the right to express what they feel. I just cant agree with some opinions:
- If you want to hear all the chatting between songs buy the original "let it be" and stop being problematic, "Let it be naked" is all about MUSIC. - Thanks to its superb sound we can hear clearly the driving acoustic guitar in "I me mine" with one of the finest drum performances made by Ringo in a Beatles record. - The rest of the album sound better than ever, so clear that even "Dont let me down" sounds played with a renewed power and conviction, for me it is without a doubt the better rock-ballad ever recorded.- the song list is a bit more coherent. - The long and winding road is finally heard as it was supposed to be; a warm and a gentle ballad, I thought that it could be released as a single even now, but the John Lennon bass line is almost amateurish!!. Sabotage??. - If you people dont like macca`s work it is YOUR problem!!, but dont mess with the Beatles and use LIBN as an excuse for your attacks, and leave it alone, let people judge by themselves...we are talking about THE BEATLES, I had to say it twice because seems that you forgot it.
On the other side, I am not gonna play the "fly on the wall" disc too often, it is a bit boring after a while, but it is an interesting document about the greatest band ever in the middle of their break up. Ah, I dont like the title (naked?). It sholud have been called "Get back" I guess.
We have to be grateful with a band that has given us so much, an endless legacy. After all, we ve got pop rock, psychodelia, progressive, power pop music, among others, because of them.

4.0 out of 5 stars very nice!!, November 16, 2003
This review is from: Bare Trees (Audio CD)
this is not buckingham-nicks f mac material. This is this is the document that tells the transition of a band from a blues based rock to pop rock.
Unfortunately this is the last album danny kirwan will record with the band, hell be fired soon after. Unfortunately because the highlights of bare trees are courtesy of him: child of mine (a nice rocker with a fiery guitar work), danny's chant, dust (a beautiful song to listen in a sunny afternoon coming back home) and bare trees. Bob welch was the new guitar player (previously featured in future games) and added the mellow "sentimental lady" (a minor hit for the band), and christine mc vie displays some of her very much recognized songwriting with homeward bound and "spare me a little of your love". The rhythm section is strong and tight as ever (check john mcvie in "child of mine").
So, this is neither the FMAC late seventies, nor the late sixties blues band, this is a transition, overall very nice material, an album that is very much worth your money, take my advice and you will not regret it.

4.0 out of 5 stars more chemistry, November 16, 2003
This review is from: Heathen Chemistry (Audio CD)
first of all, Oasis will never be the best band in the world, but they are certainly trying hard. Some people might agree with me, but "standing..." was his best album ever, and despite the fact that "heathen.." is not as good as the mentioned, does a nice job.
Hindu times will remain as a classic, noel gives us his best vocal performance in little by little and force of nature. For the first time 4 band members contribute with at least one song, andy's song is the rocker of the album, "probably all in the mind" shows the contribution of the smiths' guitar player and manchester legend johnny marr (nice song), and Liam gives us born on a different cloud and better man. This trwo last songs are good, but honestly...if you have heard the mid seventies lennon recordings, this is a rip off, is the same sound and production tecnique.
If youre a beginner with oasis music, dont start with this, eventually you will buy this one, but it will take you some time to understand the genius of this band.
