4.0 out of 5 stars Mistaken for Strangers - A Film About Brothers, July 28, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Most reviews call this a surprising comedy. My wife and I didn't find it to be particularly comical, but we did think that it was touching none-the-less. It isn't a documentary about the Nationals as much as it is a documentary about two very different brothers and how they stay connected. Cinematography is meant to look very amateurish with a lot handheld movement and unfocused shots. It was an interesting film and one that I would recommend for people looking for a story about siblings.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid Game for a Low Price, February 6, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I picked this game up from Amazon.com for less than $12. The game is solid for such a low price. The Move controls are responsive and the story is entertaining.

At first, gameplay is slow, but 2/3rds of the way into the game, gameplay picks up as the player has enough spells to mix and spice up combat. The story is just interesting enough to keep the player motivated. The game is very linear with a few branching paths to hidden treasure chest. Unfortunately, once the main path is taken (even if you didn't know it was a Main Path) the game prevents you from backtracking to the branching path. As a completionist, I find this to be a frustrating and antiquated gameplay mechanic that does nothing but artificially limit the player from exploring the entire game world. The game took me just short of 8 hours, but I took my time to explore the environments and achieve some trophies.

Technically, the game runs on Unreal 3 engine and does little to separate itself from the hundreds of games that run on the same engine. The voice acting is excellent. The art design is strongly influenced by Celtic folklore. The graphics are adequate, but they fail to ever surprise and really impress. Environments seem just short of inspired and for some reason fail to garner interest. Overall, the game is an average game for an excellent price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Girlfriend Loved it, but the Durability is Lacking, February 6, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This was a very scary purchase for me. This is the first time I have purchased a purse for a girlfriend, and it was a surprise (she never looked at it or a similar product). Fortunately, she absolutely loved it. The purse is very unique and she has never seen anything like it. The mesh styling is beautiful and the strap gave the purse enough personality without being too overbearing and ostentatious. The bag balances classic elegance with fun, and can be used for a variety of events.

The size of the purse which the other reviewer is critical of was not an immediate issue. My girlfriend immediately emptied out the contents of her purse (which is much bigger than this one) and placed them all in this purse. The bag was only a little swollen. She continued to use the purse exclusively for the next 4 weeks. Unfortunately, the meshing released from one of the corners were the strap connects to the bag. She is currently looking for a local tailor who can fix it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Smaller than Anticipated., February 6, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This piece is very elegant with excellent detail and vivid colors. However, the pendant is a little too dainty. I was disappointed with the purchase because it is so tiny. Amazon's product height and width are generous and must include the bead that connects the pendant to the chain. I purchased the piece during a sale and got approximately 80% off. For the price I paid, the pendant is fine. I would not pay much more for such a small piece.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Karting "Adventure" more than a Karting "Racer", November 8, 2012
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
Little Big Planet Karting (LBPK) is a karting game developed by the same studio as Modnation Racers (MNR), and it brings a kart racing experience to the Little Big Planet universe.

For background information, MNR is a karting game for the PS3 developed in May 2010 for the Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) and Little Big Planet is a series of 2 dimensional platformers for the PS3. Both titles focus on play, create, and share, where users can develop their own content and share it with everyone else online. Personally, I spent far too many hours of my life playing and creating tracks on MNR and have tons of experience with the editor. I have also created in Little Big Planet 2 and feel that I have some competency with the editor.

LBPK is a game that sits awkwardly between a 3 dimensional platformer and kart racer. If you go into the game expecting a solid racer like MNR you will be disappointed. However, if you accept the game as what it is, a "Karting Adventure," there is much fun to be found. On normal difficulty the game suffers from relentlessly aggressive AI creating some frustration (easy difficulty is supposedly much more accessible). LBPK forgoes the boost/shield system of MNR for a standard block using your current weapon, similar to Mario Kart. The speed of the karts is reduced from MNR and the handling feels "floaty". The handling options and kart speed options are not readily adjustable (they can only be adjusted based on the confines of a specific track). The track design is fantastic, even without the user created content. Load times have been much improved over MNR. Online play is functional but limited thanks to some strange game-flow and interface decisions. It follows the LBP formula where you choose a level and start online play from that level. This relies too heavily on other people playing the level, and doesn't necessarily work as well for a racing game. Overall, the racing experience is average when compared to other kart racing games.

In addition to placing in a race (actually racing), LBPK offers bubbles and prizes that can be found and collected on each track. There is also a wealth of different mini-games and play modes to compliment the racing experience including a battle mode. I find that bubble collecting and playing the mini-games are far more enjoyable than the racing aspect of the game.

Finally, creating is perhaps this game's greatest strength. LPBK has a deep and versatile track editor. However, character and kart editors are limited (it is worth noting the developer promises to carryover most character costumes from previous LBP games, but this feature was not available upon launch). Unfortunately, the track editor can be dense and overwhelming with boring tutorials. Laying a track is simple enough, but creating objects, logic items, and moving parts quickly becomes a complicated affair. The editor doesn't limit the player to just creating races, the player can create weapons and mini-games as well. All created content is also readily shared and easy to find online giving this game endless possibilities if the community supports it.
