1.0 out of 5 stars CAUTION! Would not run on i7 laptop with Intel 3000 graphics, February 22, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have a dell laptop with an i7 processor running Windows 7 that is only 3 years old. The software installed just fine, but gave a Windows error as soon as you tried to run it. After spending about a month with tech support the only answer they could come up with was that it must be my graphics card causing the problem. They think that it is too old to run their product and I should return it for a refund.

Processor: i7-2630

OS: Windows 7 SP1

2.0 out of 5 stars Only good for baking., December 23, 2013
When used in baking this vanilla gives a nice flavor, but...

When I first opened the bottle the alcohol smell was stronger than the vanilla. I went a head and used it in my cake. Because of the smell I tasted the batter and it had a terrible taste to it. I went ahead and baked it with the hopes that it would turn out. I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor of the cake after the baking was over. So I used the vanilla in the frosting for the cake. Ithe frosting was un edible, even my teenage boy could not stand the frosting. Had to throw the whole batch out. The next day I returned the vanilla.

3.0 out of 5 stars Released before ready, November 20, 2011
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Having owned every Lego game in recent years we were excited about this game, unfortunatly they rushed it out the door for the holidays. The common glitches are using pets and item assembly. Nothing is more frustrating than trying to use a pet for a puzzle and the game will not let you unless you are standing in an exact invisible spot to release the pet. Some assembly challenges had to be abandoned and retried because of lego parts getting stuck so assembly could not be completed at that time.

Game play is similar to previous lego games, but it is not always clear what needs to be done to continue the story. Couple this with game glitches and it can be a frustrating game at times.

If the game maker fixes the glitches in an update then I would change my rating to a 4+. Until them the game is a mixture of pleasure and pain for any age.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great HD Monitor, June 16, 2010
This new monitor exceeded my expectations. Usually the newest technology is plagued with minor problems that lead to a larger headache but not this time. ViewSonic has continued its long tradition with this LED monitor.

Plusses -
- No time wasted color calibrating the monitor for graphic intense uses. I work with a lot of digital photographs and using the color profile that is installed when you install the monitor gives you the 'What You See is What You Get' that I have only previously seen in more expensive monitors.
- Images & videos are crisp.
- No temperature build up around the monitor. It does not have the high heat generation that LCD & Plasma monitors have. The only spot that gets slightly warm is the center of the monitor back where the bulk of the system is, and that is only slightly warmer.
- comes with ALL the cables. Unlike others it comes with cables to cover both types of video hookup and an audio cable.
- the monitor buttons are not buttons. There is a power button in the middle bottom, but on the lower right there are 2 numbers and an up and down arrow. I looked around for the buttons for the labels and was pleasantly surprised that they are touch spots. So it is easy for someone with large meat hooks for fingers to work the controls.
- The monitor tilts!

Downsides (not really but...)
- The built in speakers are ok sounding. But lets face it you are not buying a monitor like this for its sound quality. I have yet to find built in speakers that provide great quality.
- The monitor does not swivel. To change the viewing angle you have to turn the whole monitor.

I could not be happier with this monitor (ok if it were free or came with a winning lottery ticket I would be).

3.0 out of 5 stars Weak Story and Unbelievable at Times., April 23, 2008
The overall premise of the book is one worthy of the show, but is poorly written. The book starts off slow due to the amount of writing used to create an initial painting of the un-subs process. The fashion descriptions were a little bit wordy for my liking. I do not think that it was necessary to describe what everyone was wearing every day. Another reviewer did point out that the author was compelled to use the team members' full title, A LOT!! After the first couple of time he should have dropped the Supervisory Special Agent title, or done what that characters have done often in the series which is to use the S.S.A. abbreviation. With Lesser FBI Characters the author has no problem using S.A. for their title.

The story lost credibility with me fast when the corner was able to pull the 4 known victims out for the team to examine, despite the fact that the crimes had started in October and the story starts in early spring. The author does tries badly to cover this error by making a brief comment about embalming fluid with one of the victims. I'm not a mortician, but that seemed like quite an unbelievable stretch for me, which started me looking more closely at the story and finding more errors (no more to be mentioned here).

IF you are looking for a light read based on the Criminal Minds Series, then you will probably be fine with this book. But if you are like me and were looking for a quality story up there where the television series has been then you will be sadly disappointed.

I did not expect the book to be 100% as accurate as the show, but I did want more than the 65% I got.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not for Beginning Artists, December 27, 2007
The back of the book says "will teach artists of all levels, from beginner to advanced". I'm sure it is a good book for those who know how to draw already, but if you are a beginner it does not provide enough information to do anything other than hopefully imitate what you are being shown as examples.

Most characters have seven steps to create them:
1. Layout
2. Volume
3. Anatomy
4. Line Work
5. Lighting
6. Coloring
7. Finish

Each section has 1 or 2 paragraphs to describe what is being done in the drawing pictured, but now how most of the time.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the extra money!, January 4, 2007
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
When I picked this up I did not realize that the only difference that this edition had was the added comic. The comic is a cute concept about Stan Lee meeting X-Men characters, but is not worth the extra money and I doubt that it would ever become a collector's item. I had hoped that there were more extras than that for the added money, but sadly no. So stick with the movie editions.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth lining a bird cage with!!!!!, March 21, 2003
...This book was required for a VB .Net programming class I took at a local College. Out of 25 people no one found the book helpful in any area of learning programming. I even talked with some friends in other VB classes that were using the same book and their classmates responses were the same as ours. By midway through the quarter the instructor had all but abandoned using the book as a reference for the class. Instead of being called comprehensive it should have been called incomprehensible!
The Author's idea of programming examples is to show just a couple lines of code instead of how the code would be used in a program. The practice exercises call for you to use the author's prewritten code (which you have to download) and alter a couple lines of code to accomplish your task. This is not programming...
Most of the subjects that were covered were presented in such a poor method that the reader is left more confused after reading the topic than before. The book was espicially bad on Printing, Collections, Classes, and Load/Save to/from a file.
When you try to recreate a program using the author's code and making changes that you are instructed to perform about a third of the time the program will fail and the book provides such poor information that you can not troubleshoot the problem....

2.0 out of 5 stars Good Introduction to SQL, Bad Programming Book, September 17, 2001
If you have never used Microsoft SQL 2000 and would like an introduction to see if you want to get into MS-SQL Programming then this is the book for you.
On the other hand if you already know that you want to learn MS-SQL Programming or have done some SQL programming don't waste your money, get Beginning SQL Server 2000 Programming by Robin Dewson ISBN: 1861005237 !
Each lesson of this book walks you through step by step performing basic SQL programming techniques. Filled with screen shots to go with just about every step it is a great way to find out something about Microsoft SQL 2000. Once you have finished with the lessons then you will have a better feel for if you want to go further into SQL Programming (It took me a weekend to finish!). If/When you are ready to learn the programming aspect pick up a copy of the book recomended above, you will not be disapointed.
Having some experience already with SQL 7.0 from a pure admin support stance I found very little in this book useful for my skill level (I knew what most of the GUI interfaces looked like already). The repetition got old when the writer told you everytime how to go into Design Table View 1 to 5 times for 12+ Chapters strait!
