4.0 out of 5 stars Decent grip for the price. First impressions:, January 18, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
After arriving today in the mail, I wanted to share my first impressions. I've owned other Canon DSLR cameras and have used Canon built grips on these cameras, so I will be doing a bit of a comparison here:

Build: In comparison to the build of the Canon grips this grip is lighter and less substantial in feel. However this grip mates up nicely to the T2i camera. The latch on the battery carriers also seem a bit flimsy, and I would recommend exercising care in opening and removing the carriers from this grip. Another weak area would be the tripod mount, in OEM grips this area is reinforced with a metal plate, in this grip there is only plastic around the mount area. The depth of the mount is shallower than the mount on the camera so a large diameter washer may be needed for some mounting applications. If an OEM Canon grip is a "10" This grip would get 6/10 for build.

Function: As I noted above this grip fits nicely to the camera, the placement of the buttons and controls are identical to those on OEM Canon grips. The feel of the shutter button and other buttons are a bit soft but functional. When I inserted a partially depleted battery in the grip, the battery indicator on the camera showed the battery in the red, VS one bar down when the battery is in the camera without the grip. I'm not sure yet how and if this will affect the overall battery life. This could be a sign that the wiring used in this grip is small gauge with increased resistance, or contacts that are not making full connection. With the battery fully charged the camera does show "full" though. 7/10 for Function

Overall this grip seems to perform properly and looks the part. Not as well built as a Canon grip, but if you need a grip on a budget, this one at around a fifth of the cost of an OEM grip will provide you with vertical control and the ability to utilize two batteries at the same time while adding a bit more stabilizing mass.

Conclusion: Around two thirds of the quality and build of a OEM grip for one fifth the price. That, in my book, makes this a good deal.

3.0 out of 5 stars Servicable cable, not enough shielding., December 31, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
First of all, let me say this cable fits the need I had for it. For the cost it is a decent cable, but don't expect high quality, for this is not. The main issue with this type of cable is since it is unshielded there is a certain amount of interference that can be seen in the signal. Also the connectors are somewhat flimsy for a cable of this length. I would not recommend using this cable for any studio or high end entertainment systems or any application where it will be unplugged and plugged back in frequently. However to get a stereo A/V feed to a bedroom or other outlaying room with minimal cost, this cable will work fine.

Pros: Good length, Stereo, Nice color coded ends.

Cons: Unshielded (Picks up video noise) cheap RCA connectors

I am Greg Romero's wife Mary. I enjoyed the book very much. Kept me on my toes. I was so into the book. I hope there will be a series. Also hope the publishers will accept Virtually Hers. I read Virtually His and am anxious for the next book. Gennita Low is a great author.
