Created for a Purpose Audio (CD): A Message of Hope for Women
by Darlene Sala

Price: $12.99

5.0 out of 5 stars she also wants all women to have a good concept of self, November 12, 2014
This is a very well done, down to earth message for women of today. Sala tells the many ways society through advertisements and social media make women feel less than and inadequate. While she does not want women to become perfectionists, she also wants all women to have a good concept of self, but not in the ways of the world but in the ways God intended. She stresses the Biblical passages which tell us that we are made in God's image and that he knew us while we were forming in our mother's wombs. The messages in each chapter of this excellent book are healthy and Biblical and at the same time practical. She addresses where we get poor self images: perhaps through child abuse, through comparing ourselves to someone else, through unhappy relationships and many other ways. This CD/book is priceless in helping women feel worthy and acceptable in their own sight as well as others, because we are each created in the way God intended us to be for His purpose. The book is EXCELLENT!

4.0 out of 5 stars I found this audio book a wonderful listen, stimulating my imagination to ponder the great ..., November 11, 2014
I found this audio book a wonderful listen, stimulating my imagination to ponder the great hardships of people who settled the American west, an area where I live today. The struggles of these twelve families who are trying to establish an Amish farming community in rural Colorado are astounding and frightening. The hand planted crops are ruined with hail or drought, making back-breaking toil negated. The loss of crops means they will go hungry in the coming winter, and the fear and doubt that brings terrifies some into moving. Through all the hardships Aime, a young unmarried woman, tries to encourage her friends in the community to trust God to bring them through these terrible times, but many want to leave in fear. The fact that no minister has been willing to come here for over a year makes the job of keeping faith almost impossible. The book makes all the trials and tribulations and calls to faith come to our own hearts and reality as we live them through this main character, who is so endearing to the reader and so ministerial to her friends in the troubled community. She has begun a quilt representing each family and this comes to bear in the decisions of each family in ways she never dreamed. Of course the love plot draws the reader through Aime's confusion of two wonderful suitors, making her life both bearable at times and almost unbearably confusing at times. Will the community make it? Will they finally get a minister and get to go to church, which means so much to each of these dedicated Amish families who moved here at such great risk? Will Aime get married? The book will draw you through, uplifting your faith in Gog and admiration for pioneers all the way. A very good read and I look forward to the sequel.

4.0 out of 5 stars but I like to listen to audio books, November 11, 2014
If you prefer to read this book yourself you can get it that way, but I like to listen to audio books, and this unabridged version is very well read by Bruce Bickel, Stan Jantz. For Christians familiar with the Bible this wonderful book is a good reinforcement of what you already believe. For non-Christians, the book is a good explanation of why Christians believe as they do. The book takes the premise of Everything Changes When You See God For Who He Really Is. The statements are backed up in the text with many quotes from the Holy Bible and are very Biblically sound, but this book also emphasizes the love of God toward humanity instead of the fearful God of the Old Testament. The authors help us lift our eyes from the complications and stresses of this world to our God who is so very much more compassionate and great and powerful and loving than we remember in everyday problems. A very good book.

5.0 out of 5 stars was a great fete of accomplishment brought together successfully by the author ..., November 11, 2014
Hollywood Stars Night, an annual baseball game at Dodger Stadium for over 40 years, was a great fete of accomplishment brought together successfully by the author Joe Seigman, and Jack Gilardi. This book has many professional and endearing photos of many of the Hollywood film stars who bravely agreed to practice enough baseball to play a real game with a huge audience in the famous baseball diamond of the Major League Stadium. Begun in the 1960's this game became an annual staple of the Los Angeles baseball scene. You'll love seeing your favorite stars of many years in baseball uniforms with bats or ball and glove in their hands. A wonderful, nostalgic review, even if you are not a baseball fan!

5.0 out of 5 stars straight-forward words that will satisfy even the most curious of youngsters and their elders, November 11, 2014
Wow! What a fascinating book! It truly is everything you could ever think to ask or want to know about Kruger, the largest national park in South Africa and one of the largest managed national parks/protected areas in the world. Not only a treasure to South Africans, the park is also a fascination and on the Bucket List for most travelers of the world, with about 1.5 million visitors annually.Of course the native (and exotic to the rest of us) animals are what everyone wants to see and know about, and this is the book with all the answers! There are detailed black and white drawings of each animal followed by questions about the habitat, food, habits, mating, etc. of that animal. The questions are answered in simple, straight-forward words that will satisfy even the most curious of youngsters and their elders. The book is not only good for those going to Kruger National Park, but also for anyone taking a child to a zoo and for teachers. These are real answers to everything anyone could ever think to ask about an African animal! Very well done and easy to read

4.0 out of 5 stars This book does a wonderful job of making the reader think, November 11, 2014
This little book provokes a lot of thoughtful concepts and insights into what it is to live in America. Historically, the land was claimed by settlers from Native Americans (Indians), perhaps stolen with bloodshed. The homes were built simply from materials at hand and to fit the needs and lifestyle of those living within, with nothing to excess. Everything came with hard work, but we should not lose the memories and the insights as to what this was in this land we inherited in modern day. This book does a wonderful job of making the reader think, imagine, and understand what it is that made this country as we enjoy it today, and the appreciation and comprehension of what it means to be American. A small book worth reading carefully.

5.0 out of 5 stars ... when I was growing up and learned to sew like most American girls, November 11, 2014
This book took me back to a simpler time in America when I was growing up and learned to sew like most American girls, but these lessons skipped a generation and now very few know how to create their own garments and accessories for personal wear or for their homes. But this is not a lost art in most other countries. This book is a terrific guide for anyone who wishes to learn or to teach their children how to sew and have the rewards of creating and the pride of finishing something themselves. The projects in the book are pictured with very simple to understand and complete instructions and many patterns are included, which can be adapted to all sizes and to create many items. This book gives good know-how and experience for anyone from first stitches to creating personalized projects for very nice and practical gifts. The book would be an excellent home-school text also. I love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars What an amazing piece of American history, November 11, 2014
What an amazing piece of American history, accomplishment, iconography and art is Route 66, and you will learn all the various facts and folklore about this highway that was an early American accomplishment, connecting Chicago to St. Louis, and then taking travelers all the way west to the Pacific Coast. The route passed through Main Streets all along the way, joining places which had never been joined, yet following historic pioneer and Indian trails. The famous Route 66 has been elevated to fame and imaginations through novels (Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath ), art, photography, films, TV, and music (Bobby Troup's Get Your Kicks on Route 66) . This is the route every American and every foreign visitor wants to travel because it has been embedded into our imaginations in so many ways. This is the book that tells all about why and how and how deeply a part of us this Iconographic American Highway is. It is fascinating, and the book is done in such a visually explanatory way with wonderful photos throughout. It is terrific!
