A critically-flawed product.

Most people are familiar with ASUS, and in general have a positive opinion of them. In this case, I was severely disappointed with the product's lack of quality.
While succeeding in the polish department, the product stumbles in its fundamentals. Understand that I am certainly not new to recognizing technical faults, as I have worked in
software development since the CP/M days.
I have configured and tweaked practically every setting related to the 2.4 GHz range setting, have scanned the local networks for clear channels, have tried every BIOS updated on their site: the product continues to have issues of dropping performance of 2.4 GHz-range connections within a minute, from 30mbs down to < 1mbs. This continues until the router's setting are re-written when
everything perks up again for a few more minutes.
After searching the web, it seems that this is not a rare occurrence. Many people describe the exact same symptoms. ASUS is apparently aware of this, but has done nothing to resolve it in 4 months.
Sadly, this is becoming de rigueur for their company. Driver bugs with my (and everyone else's) ASUS G75VW have also gone unfixed since last summer; they are still "working on it."
Unfortunately, I ended up giving up on fixing this two days after being able to get a refund from Amazon. A call to ASUS support gave me only the suggestion to "try hard-setting a variety of channels" and that it's "probably not defective".
I've had to revert back to my earlier 802.11n router just to be able to work consistently.
