4.0 out of 5 stars A New Perspective on Marriage, August 9, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Mr. Begley is a world-famous attorney, and a highly regarded novelist. Full disclosure, he and I are classmates at Harvard and once again the Harvard-New York-New England-Europe atmosphere permeates the book. Either because of this, or despite this, it is a very good read, that keeps your attention to the end. The basic plot is simple: a marriage may look to outsiders in a way totally different from the actual participants and how this is resolved is Mr. Begley's skill.

5.0 out of 5 stars It Works!, July 18, 2010
This book is just plain common sense, which is not all that common. Well written and illustrated, this should be the first stop before undertaking any kind of weight-loss program. Maybe the best part are the facing pages where on the left is the 'wrong choice' and on the facing right page the 'right choice'; one example. Cheese omelet with breadfast potatoes and buttered toast is 880 calories and opposed to that is two boiled eggs at 150 calories. Even if you are not trying to lose weight, the book is an excellent guide to healthy nutrition.

4.0 out of 5 stars Classical Music, May 6, 2007
Probably no reader will agree with every one of the author's picks and pans. They are, however, uniformly interesting. This book has provided me with great insight into the recording industry, and as a long-time record collector (symphonic and opera) I am a lot more knowledgeable after reading the book. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Performances, May 6, 2007
I heard this on the radio and was so impressed that I wrote the station to obtain the title and performers. On my own system the sound is magnificent and the interpretations are absolutely first rate.

5.0 out of 5 stars See Brazil from the ground up, December 16, 2004
This book is about the author's remarkable journey on foot through the back country of Brazil. Each Chapter provides a story of a day's trek. Very readable and provides easy-to-grasp knowledge of both historical and modern Brazil. This is an adventure book that both entertains and teaches.
