2.0 out of 5 stars MacArthur's bias is clear, July 14, 2007
From the moment I discovered that he had crammed the lives of Mary and Martha into a single chapter, I knew much mischief was afoot. Cannot the Mother of God be given her own chapter? Was her life truly that second rate?

Or, can this be chalked up to the common Protestant approach to the discussion of Mary... don't. It will sound too, too, Catholic. Ewwww!

I once read a book by an elderly and faithful Evangelical who opined that he cannot ever recall hearing a sermon on the Blessed Virgin in all of his decades of worship. I guess this embarrassing and insulting phenomenon is alive and well in the Evanelical book writing world too.

What a crying shame.

5.0 out of 5 stars The greatest album ever... and the film was awesome too!!!!!, August 24, 2005
Only elitist snobs with shallow and unrefined musical tastes could seriously take shots at this masterpeice. This was Peter Frampton and The Bee Gees at their finest - a moving and tearful tribute to The Beatles. Some of the terribly uninformed reviews that have criticized both the movie and the soundtrack are stunningly ill-informed hatchet jobs that do violence to the incredible accomplishment that this CD represents.

You will love it and listen to it over and over again. Heck, it will probably make you want to purchase the movie (and I hope you do - it is just as fabulous and fun as the music is). This album (and movie for that matter)is destined to be a collectors item and revered as the greatest musical triumph ever.

Don't be dissuaded by unschooled lunkheads who have written unfavorable reviews here and make habit of confusing a Battleship with a row boat. If BS were electricity, they'd be power plants. There is a difference between Dom Perignon and Boone's Farm; too bad the critics here (the Boone's Farm crowd) haven't figured that out yet. They wouldn't know gourmet if you handed them a Best of Julia Child video.

Quit reviewing great CD's (especially great ones like this) and stick to front end alignments in your driveway!

Buy it; NOW!!! You can thank me later.

1.0 out of 5 stars P.T. Barnum was right., June 23, 2004
This review is from: Prepare For War (Paperback)
Poppycock. Balderdash. Nonsense. BS. Hogwash. Dillusional. And those are the books good points.
Rantings of a mad man (woman actually)? Probably. I am at a loss to find anything redeeming about this fictional hooey.
If you hate the Catholic Church because you are as sadly, and grossly misinformed as Rebecca Brown, than this book is a keeper. However, if you have an IQ that registers in the double digits, know anything about the Bible AND Church history, and don't have black helicopters flying over your backyard, then the only good use you will find for this nonsense is to line the bottom of your bird cage or blot the area of your carpet where Fido has soiled it.

1.0 out of 5 stars What baloney! Consider it for the bottom of your birdcage., October 30, 2002
I won't waste much time and energy on skewering this book and its Marxist author - though they both richly deserve it - because I only want to put in as much time writing this review as the author did in fact-checking. So, I have to go now.

1.0 out of 5 stars Pure drivel. Emotional nonsense. Yep, he's a liberal!, July 20, 2002
Kelly strikes me as a not-to-disguised commie. His familiarity with rational discourse and fact-checking seems to be wanting. It has been scientifically proven that Rush is right over 98.7% of the time. This makes Bolsheviks, like Kelly and his ilk, boil with anger. If this is the ultimate refutation of conservative ideas, as espoused by Rush, then I laugh at the left's impotentcy. You're firing blanks my friends and making fools of yourselves in the process.
On the positive side, this book gives the Communist Manifesto a real run for its money. In fact the concepts (rantings) are often indistinguishable between the two. Congratulations Mr. Kelly; Karl Marx would be proud!

Bias: A CBS Insider Exposes How the Media Distort the News
Bias: A CBS Insider Exposes How the Media Distort the News

5.0 out of 5 stars A BOMBSHELL book that confirms what we always knew!, January 12, 2002
For those who have been even semi-conscious the past thirty-five years have known what this book irrefutably proves - the news is decidedly liberal. From the top brass to the low-level street reporter, everybody is thinking alike in the main stream media and there is NO ROOM for opinions that differ from theirs. They care not what you say, or how vociferously you may complain, they are liberals and they know more than you do. They're more compassionate, more cultured, more educated, more understanding, more intelligent, more "in touch," and more important than you and I are. In short, they just "get it."
The truth, they think, is wholly subjective.
Golberg show how the media portrays conservatives as "evil religious nuts" who must be impugned, marginalized, and made fun of. Their idea of objectivity is to get the liberal side of the story and then the MORE liberal side.
A once proud profession - filled with moral, fair, and ethical professionals - has been reduced to a cess pool of pointy headed lefties with attitudes and agendas. It is, if nothing else, a hoot to see the media elite holler and squirm as the bright light of scrutiny is turned on them for once.
The stories that you will read in this superb book will make you angry, leave you stunned, and confirm your worst nightmares about Dan, Tom, Peter, and the whole media establishment. You will be treated to stories that show their breathtaking arrogance and examples of "in your face" yellow journalism.
Thank you Bernard Goldberg for reaffirming that my sanity is intact and that my sense of smell for that which is foul, is as acute as ever. History will surely toast you for your courage and your integrity. I pray that history will record your book as the turning point in the media's exodus from Democratic Party activism. Then again, the history writers will probably be as fair and balanced as your former colleagues at CBS. C'est la vie!
Well done, sir. Bravo!

1.0 out of 5 stars Ignorance, fear and loathing. This book has it all!, December 9, 1999
If ignorance really is bliss, then Timothy Kauffman is one happy guy. What this author understands of transubstantiation (and the orginal texts which CLEARLY teach the Catholic doctrine), the Old Testament references to "graven images", the Blessed Virgin Mary, and, well, just about everything else which represents orthodox Christianity, you could fit into a thimble and have enough room left over for the Chinese Army. It is books, and authors, like this one that make me wonder if some Protestant zealots get it all wrong on purpose. How can you be this "off the mark" and retain a sliver of credibility?
Mr. Kauffman does what so many others of his ilk do; they read what OTHER Protestants have to say about Catholic doctrine and parrot their opinions. I have a novel idea for Timothy Kauffman and those in his cheering section... read what St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Francis de Salles, Pope John Paul II, Scott Hahn, Robert Sungenis, Patrick Madrid, and THE CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH, teach on these subjects!
Independant thought seems to have gone out of style and repeating nonsense which has been disproved long ago is making a big comeback. The real victims of this tragic book? Intellectual honesty and God's truth. That is a profound shame.
Please read ROME SWEET HOME, SURPRISED BY TRUTH, BORN FUNDAMENTALIST;BORN AGAIN CATHOLIC, NOT BY FAITH ALONE, EVANGELICAL IS NOT ENOUGH, and THE CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. These titles are available right here ... Don't be frightened of the truth. It will set you free.

1.0 out of 5 stars The gates of hell haven't prevailed. Nice try, though., August 2, 1999
Please Mr. Webster, after reading your book I still have questions. Indulge me, won't you?
In 1 Timothy 3:15 St. Paul says that the Church is the pillar and foundation of truth. But which Church Mr. Webster? The Baptist Church (created by John Smyth in 1600)? The Lutheran Church (created by Martin Luther in 1524)? The Presbyterian Church (created by John Knox in 1560)? The Espiscopalian Church (created by King Henry VIII in 1534)? Is it one of these Protestant Churches or perhaps one I have left out? If so, where was the Holy Spirit all those centuries before some MAN created it?
Additionally, Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would lead His Church into all truth and shield it from error. Interesting, Mr. Webster, you think that Jesus waited to keep these promises for some 15 centuries, until Luther or Knox or Henry VIII came along and formed their own Churches?!
I was also hoping to be enlightened on Sola Scriptura (the Bible alone). Candidly, I was sure you would provide me the chapter and verse where this is taught in the Bible. But you didn't, because you couldn't. Yep, it's unscriptural.
So, I return to my original question... Which Church was Jesus and St. Paul talking about? Here are some hints, Mr. Webster. It's the one founded in A.D. 33, not by a MAN, but by Jesus Christ Himself. It's the one that Peter was made leader of. It's the one that today has an unbroken chain of leadership all the way back to blessed Peter, the rock.
The Church that Jesus, St. Peter, St. Paul, Polycarp, St. Ignatius, Irenaeus, Clement I, Justin Martyr, et al, were talking about is the one labled in Greek as "universal". To the inexplicable consternation of many, it is the Catholic Church. Mr. Webster, the Church you impugn as wrong and in error, is the Church Jesus created. I put all my faith and devotion to the Church that Jesus created. You advise others, in this weak book, to place their faith in Churches created by common men. For shame.
For those who want to be exposed to the faith of the Apostles should read... ROME SWEET HOME by Scott and Kimberly Hahn, SURPRISED BY TRUTH by Patrick Madrid, BORN FUNDAMENTALIST; BORN AGAIN CATHOLIC by David Currie, ANSWERING A FUNDAMENTALIST by Albert Nevins or try the CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. These titles are available right here on Amazon.com. The truth is much more interesting, and compelling, than fiction.

2.0 out of 5 stars White fails where SO many others have: debunking Catholocism, June 6, 1999
I am a staunch Catholic. I didn't used to be. I left the Church twelve years ago because of rebelliousness and plain old ignorance. I was persuaded by those who espoused much of the same papp that James White does. It was only through a long scholarly study, engaging debates, and heartfelt prayer that I learned the errors of my ways. The Catholic Church has had it right for nearly two thousand years and the gates of hell aren't about to prevail upon it now. As for White, I complement his intellectual approach. He, unlike so many of his ilk, does not resort to outright lies and demagoguery to prove his points. For this, at least, he should be applauded. Nevertheless, Mr. White reaches one mistaken conclusion after another. The reader is no more enlightened on sola scriptura (the Bible alone) than he was when he started. The Catholic Church has asked a simple question: If the Bible is the SOLE source of faith, where does scripture teach this doctrine? It should be a simple matter of quoting the chapter(s) and verse(s). But White can't and nor can anyone else. Instead, he leads the reader on a never-ending, philosophical wild goose chase that leaves you more convinced that the Catholic Church hit the bullseye again. White, and many others in the Protestant world, are attempting to put a finger in the dike as fundamentalists and evangelicals are joining the Catholic Church in droves. This work falls FAR short of its goal. For really great reading, try ROME SWEET HOME by Scott and Kimberly Hahn, SURPRISED BY TRUTH by Patrick Madrid, BORN FUNDAMENTALIST;BORN AGAIN CATHOLIC by David Currie, BY WHAT AUTHORITY? by Mark Shea, ANSWERING A FUNDAMENTALIST by Albert Nevins, or try the CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH.
