DII Napkin Rings Set of 6, Silver Branch
DII Napkin Rings Set of 6, Silver Branch

4.0 out of 5 stars Large napkin rings, September 20, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
These are fairly nice napkin rings, big. They would like nice on a fall or winter table setting, they have a sort of icicle/ winter acorn tree vibe going. I had to clean them, there was some sort of black stuff that I thought was tarnish at first, but they wiped off. These are heavy and solid and with the right setting and napkins would look good, definitely not for everyday these would work good for a formal dinner or small party.

5.0 out of 5 stars Layla is back, September 20, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
The book starts out with Roth missing, Zayne still off limits, and Layla reeling from the finding out who and what she is. She also has a demonic snake tat, Bambi, one of my favorite characters, still trying to fit in school and mortal friends.

Nothing works out for Layla, this book is even darker than the first, with her "family" turning against her and willing to torture and killer her, Roth rejecting her, and bad things are happening that she is being blamed for, and in the world of Gargoyles, demons and wraiths, a Lilin, a super baddie, might have been born.

Zayne grows up a little in this one, less trusting of his and Layla's family and friends, more willing to see what is going on and how she is being treated.

While I find the writing tight, the story interesting, the action fast and furious, a little happy or relief would be nice in the grand scheme of things.

Zombie, Illinois: A Novel
Zombie, Illinois: A Novel

2.0 out of 5 stars Less Political droning, more zombies please, September 20, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Zombie Il is a book about corrupt Illinois politicians with a few zombies thrown in. I think more people are killed by bullets and boredom when the author is droning on and on and on about the alderman's and mayor and politics than are killed by zombies.

A few things worked, the way Pastor Mack, Ben, and Maira's lives kept intertwining felt more believable than contrived. I loved the part where Pastor Mack is talking about the parts of the bible where it's not so comforting about the dead and the afterlife. Who Maria is and why that involves them in the political mess is good.

There are a lot of F-bombs, including from the pastor. After awhile they stop being effective and just get gratuitous.

I thought I was buying a book about zombies, not a diatribe about Illinois politicians with a few zombies thrown in.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super fun and versatile, September 18, 2014
This Neon LED writing board is fantastic fun! With the bright neon lights, the remote control, and the erasable markers included, it's amazing how exciting and fun this board is. I've been getting stencils, like Halloween, drawing on it, putting it in the window, plugging it in, and I have an amazing holiday display, birthdays, Christmas, Easter, or just for fun. The remote is easy to use and makes this board so versatile because of all the colors, the lights, the blinking. It's a shiny shiny fun board.

For a small business it would be great, for kids drawing it would make the drawings come to life without a great expense. I highly recommend this board.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a heavy, heavy duty vacuum, September 18, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
It's a vacuum and a workout! I went back and forth between four and five stars but let me start from the beginning, I got a well packed box inside another box. My initial reaction was surprise at how heavy the box was. I unpacked the vacuum, no drama, everything was well packed and accounted for.

You need a phillips screwdriver to attach the handle, but it was a fast easy screw in and that is the only tool you need. The handle goes in, the canister/tunnel part snaps in easily. The hose curves over the hump where the old time cords used to wind around and snaps into a hole on the other side, literally. There is a little catch that you can hear click when you push it in far enough, and you need to release it to get it back out.

The crevice tool fits into the hard extension tube, the little mini vacuum attachment fits in front and the other little tool sits on the other side, so everything is on the vacuum. The hose and attachment system is super easy to use. Here is an embarrassing confession, I have had a Dyson for over six years and still can't figure out how to get the handle thing out to use the attachments. The hoover is super easy,.

There is a step lever on the back so you can move the body up or down. At first the hose didn't seem very long but it actually reaches my ceiling, sorry crack spiders. On the left side is the brush on and off button you step on, brush on for carpet and off for hard floors. Up is brush on, down is brush off- the directions say the button comes defaulted with the brush on, but mine actually wasn't.

Suction wise this vacuum sucks! And with a vacuum that is a good thing. It works great on the carpet, the tile, and then I can easily switch over to the hose and the tools. The suction is strong on those also. There is a turn button on front so you can change it to low for bare floor, then adjust up higher and higher depending on how thick or plush your carpet is.

The only negative I really have about this vacuum, and the one that gave me a bit of pause, is it weighs a lot, and it's actually not that easy to push over carpet. If your of regular strength it would be fine, but anyone compromised, an older or weaker person might have issues lugging this up and down stairs, or even pushing across the carpet. I don't consider mine terribly plush and I had to go pretty high on the lever to make the vacuum pushable.

Also, a lot of the bells and whistles are plastic. The brush on/off button, the lean back lever, the tools, and I wonder about the longevity, however I have no reason to think it won't last, metal extensions are a thing of the past.

Ultimately though, even on the higher setting it vacuumed like a champ, getting dirt and ick out of my carpet and it did great on the bare tile. The ease of using the attachments and overall cleaning quality makes this a five.

5.0 out of 5 stars Izzy says yes, bring on the bunny, September 18, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Here wags izzy's tail
hopping down the bunny trail

Izzy loved the potato and rabbit formula, I loved the grain free aspect. She has a main food that she does very well with, after several years of experimenting she is staying on it, however, I love using dog food as treats. The taste is different enough she thinks she is getting something special. These are a perfect size, the rounds disks are great to feed her for sitting, shaking, down, stay, and yet it's healthy for her. She was very happy to do all her tricks for the rabbit formula.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good for people, bad for dogs, September 18, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I like the cookbook part for humans, and if she stopped there it would have been fine, but avocados, onions, tomato, tomato sauce- these are not good for dogs. You can google food bad for dogs, or go to the spca for a list. Also some of the dishes are heavy on cream and butter and cheese, while not necessarily poison, like the avocado, it's not going to be good for the dog's tummy or overall health.

She says she's not a dog nutritionist, but since she is selling a book that is specifically for humans and dogs, she could have least checked out what they shouldn't eat, it would take a five minute web search.

I gave the book a two because I enjoyed the stories, and the recipes sound downright yummy- for humans.

3.0 out of 5 stars The artists behind the cartoons, September 18, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
How does one even begin to write a book on New Yorker's most brilliant cartoonist and not include Charles Addams? and it's not like he didn't have an interesting life, he dated Jackie Kennedy for heaven's sake.

Warning, some of the unpublished cartoons published in this book are pretty graphic with male body parts. I expected little interviews and biographies, not a huge picture of a male appendage and the pretty outright reference to a glory hole.

The interviews and biographies were well written, but frankly, as others have stated, there is a reason we know their cartoons and not their lives and philosophies. I think if you are a hardcore fan who wants to know all the behind the scenes and about the artists you might enjoy this, but I think I'll stick with the cartoons

5.0 out of 5 stars Izzy cleaned her plate, September 18, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Every morning we walk Izzy, or she walks us, depending on which of us you ask, then she gets a treat. The treat is really a way to get her to eat her morning yogurt. Soft food is great, she gets about 1/4 cup, and that brings me to the first very nice thing about this food, the packaging is resealable for easy storage in the fridge.

The food itself is not unpleasant smelling, and she loved it, I thought she might eat the plate, she was pushing it around with her nose to see if any had spilled underneath.

This dog treat was a hit, however, it would be pricy to feed this to her as her main meal, even though she is only 15 lbs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy it as a camcorder selfie machine and it will work great, September 18, 2014
This review is from: Canon VIXIA mini X (Electronics)
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This video recorder does an excellent job if used for what it's meant for. If you buy a mini cooper and then complain you can't tow a camper with it, it's really not the mini coopers fault. This is not a video camera for going out and shooting your beach trip, soccer games, or the latest cute pet tricks from your darling beastie.

What this recorder is for is basically taking video selfies. There aren't a lot of options for recording, the zoom isn't great, you have fisheye or you can set it to regular and you can take photos with it. This is set up mostly for webcasts, youtube vids, watching yourself rock out with your drums and microphone. It is very good to put on a tripod and capture nature.

The sound quality is the best I've ever come across, and it has microphone plug in. You can buy a stand for an extra 99.00 (at the time of this review) that pans so if you are recording a choir or school play you can get more of the action.

The video recorder threads onto a regular tripod also, and creates it's own little stand to prop it up, you can configure it so you can see it recording if it's facing you or facing away.

Having used other camcorders I was a bit skeptical of the "excellent low-light" claim, but I was wrong. The low light is excellent, making it perfect for darkened venues like concerts and plays, or less than optimal standard house lighting when recording yourself. I know I have a dark living room and regular webcams and camcorders can show more blobs than sharp features, this recorder excels.

The fish eye lens is again set up for what the camera is designed for, it will encompass a stage or band stand or large view.

This is a very specialized video camera, when used for the purpose intended it is fantastic.
