1.0 out of 5 stars I blame Atlantic, December 13, 2011
This review is from: Oh Yeah (Audio CD)
Fresh out of the plastic wrap, my copy is unplayable. It will not play on any CD player I own. This is probably due to some ridiculous DMCA feature on he disc. Be careful, while Mingus is the man, Atlantic is part of WEA, who apparently doesn't care if you use their products or not.. just as long as they can wage their absurd war on copyright infringement.

4.0 out of 5 stars The long lost elipsis to the Beats, December 5, 2011
Beat literature was defined by Bill Morgan as just a group of writers that were socially connected to Allen Ginsberg. It's a utilitarian designation at best; one that sidelines many writers of that ilk. Now that Ginsberg is dead, there can be no more. But really, there had been little action on that front in many decades. Yandow could be the last. I don't think I've read a trippier, more introspective, or more hallucinatory text. You can call yourself an anti-beat... but aside form the gonzo quality of writing oneself into the text he is well inside the greater beat cannon. Don't skip this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 Stars, killer record, September 12, 2010
This review is from: Give Me Pink (MP3 Music)
On a 5-point scale this album is a five out of five. On a 10-point scale, it's a ten out of ten. This is a nearly perfect rock n' roll record, the likes of which has not been seen in five decades.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wrong artist in meta data, November 13, 2009

Its a decent song but it's not Blind Joe Reynolds. It's Memphis Minnie and Kansas Joe. Reynolds only recorded 8 sides, and two of them were never released and none of them are this song.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best I've found, October 7, 2009

I travel for work frequently and after destroying a few tool bags from Sears I bought one of these. Under heavy use and frequent rough handling from the Airport baggage Dept this one survived 4 years. I'm replacing it with the same model.

3.0 out of 5 stars Downhill after Dodds, September 4, 2009
The album "talking and Drum Solos" is a classic. But the strange compilation here os two brass bands and Dodds is odd. Dodd recorded in 1946, the two brass bands in 1954. More problematic is that the track listing on the disc lists 28 tracks... but the CD only contains 25... The first and last tracks are certainly correct, so the error lies in between.

1.0 out of 5 stars crank book, August 16, 2009
The book basically exploits the problem with all elected officials: they all get their campaign money from somewhere. Then the book makes the grandiose assessment that the Obama administration is somehow massively corrupt. When you view a 6 month old administration with any context at all (especially in context with their felonious predecessor) it's just bogus. It reads like the private mumblings of Dick Armey. The book isn't even convincing bunk. It's purely translucent to anyone who even watches network news. Try again in a year or two when they've actually screwed something up.

2.0 out of 5 stars Lots of problems, April 3, 2008
It's a decent keyboard cellphone, will all the features you want and even some you don't want.

There are a couple bugs. The GPS is hinky and seems not to perform around tall things like buildings and trees. The buttons freeze somtimes, requiring you power it off. Teh battery life is short... three hours tops.

But the real problem is Microsoft Sync. The phone uses flash memory, so you should be able to add and remove files via USB cable in a click & drag fashion. This is standard for ALL other devices with flash memory.

To get pictures off I have to Sync it with Outlook and email them to myself or use HP snapfish. If I want a new ringtone I have to Sync it and let it import the file. In the mean time it's automatically seized control of my laptop and is using all the CPU trying to suck in all the data in Outlook... even though don't have or use Outlook. I have no option to stop it, nor can it connect to any other email system.

So in sum, phone decent, sync interface is junk.

4.0 out of 5 stars mmmmm distortion, November 24, 2007

This is probably the most underrated record Steve Albini ever produced. It's loaded with the filthiest distortion of any grunge-tinged record. It's a must-own.
