5.0 out of 5 stars A winning story that just keeps running, March 4, 2013
This review is from: Word of the Day (Kindle Edition)
Vonnie is a high school track star who likes to run up mountains. She is difficult to keep up with, wants to solve every problem on her own, and goes through many changes in her journey to a point where she asks the people she loves for help. This is a truly moving story of a young person who slowly learns about life. She has her setbacks, with both family and friends. She gets through them and learns about herself. She takes herself seriously and still doesn't take herself too seriously at the same time, if that is possible.

This is a very satisfying book to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of Twain's best, March 2, 2013
This is Twain's combination travelogue and biography of his days in Nevada and California post-goldrush. Written with his inimitable style. Total enjoyment, and well worth reading if you are only aware of Twain's novels. Really gives the falvor of the place and the times. I especially like the Hawaii sequences.

5.0 out of 5 stars You Enjoy This Book In Sips, May 4, 2010
I purchased this book after it caught my eye at a winery tasting room on my last trip to California. I only picked it up last week, but I have been digging into it ever since. His personal experiences with wine are certainly interesting, but the real gem in this book is to watch his philosophy of wine, and life, evolve. It's all quite good, but the section on wine and the natural world stands out. It all makes you think.
