5.0 out of 5 stars the best alarm clock I've found, March 15, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
After a desperate search for an alarm clock that will wake me up without waking the whole house, this is the one I bought. Then I bought 2 more. Although it seems a bit flimsy, the snooze is tough enough to withstand being whacked by a hand. The shaker is annoying enough that it is impossible to ignore.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lion dancer Buddha guy loves it, March 15, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This was purchased for a school club and works perfectly as padding for the Buddha guy who chases the lion dancers. It stays in place and fits just about anyone playing the part.

3.0 out of 5 stars fun ice cubes, needs to be made with tougher materials, March 15, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The brain cubes were a fun idea, about the right size for drinks or watering an orchid. The problem was the silicone used to make it. After 5 or 6 uses one of the brains sprang a leak. After the second leak I stopped using them. Obviously this is a novelty item, but I don't think I'll buy any more ice cube trays made of this silicone.

2.0 out of 5 stars weak motor, March 15, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought the Zing as a dusting vac. It worked ok for about a year, then the motor burnt out, although I was careful to clean the filters and empty the canister. This is not a vac I would recommend.

3.0 out of 5 stars famous author fan-fiction, June 14, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Anyone who reads and writes fan-fiction will recognize The Attenbury Emeralds for what it is: publisher endorsed fan-fiction. This is not necessarily a bad thing. PD James tried it with Jane Austin's work in her novel, Death Comes to Pemberley, but she also came through with mixed results.

*possible spoiler*
It is a story based on the characters and events created by Dorothy L Sayers, and as such it has its moments, but ultimately it falls short. There are a few minor chronological problems, but those can be passed over, as LPW short stories are not as well known as the novels, and chronology is alway a problem with Sherlock Holmes-like characters. However, the major annoyance is that the scene in which Lord Peter is trotted out as a witness for the prosecution, never happens here. The case of the Attenbury emeralds is turned into a complicated muddle that left me unsatisfied. I could have more fun writing it up as my own fan-fiction to be presented on fanfiction.net, or not at all.

As fan-fiction, it's a good read, but it's not canon Sayers.

Ibook 12 Inch Battery White, Dual USB
Ibook 12 Inch Battery White, Dual USB

3.0 out of 5 stars worked for a while, but..., December 8, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
unfortunately a new battery can only do so much for a 10 year old iBook. The battery might be perfectly fine, but it's impossible to tell when the computer has other problems. I'd suggest buying this at your own risk. If you need to find out if your computer will work, it's a lot less expensive than the Apple manufactured batteries, but I'm not sure it's as good.

4.0 out of 5 stars Long time Oreck customer, October 23, 2011
First bought an oreck air purifier in 2005 because my roommate smokes. Solved the problem then, solves the problem still. Bought another for the musty basement at my parents' house. Basement no longer musty. Yes the truman cell pops and cracks occasionally, but I've gotten used to it. Although I don't clean them as often as I should, they keep chugging along, purifying the smoke and mildew from the air. It's a bit expensive, but for more than 5 years of continuous service, I think I've got my money's worth. (I'm no sockpuppet, don't work for Oreck and received no compensation for this review)

5.0 out of 5 stars sandalwood incense, April 10, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is an excellent incense, fragrant and long lasting. It is a bit difficult to light, but the use of an unscented candle or lighter will solve that problem. Once it builds a bed of ash, it burns completely. Makes the whole house smell good.

Sewing Machine Repair Manual by Sew it Works
Sewing Machine Repair Manual by Sew it Works

4.0 out of 5 stars for the sewing machine tinkerer, June 13, 2010
This was a very simple, easy download. The 82 page manual gives brief but clear information about the workings of a sewing machine and instructions for diagnosing and repairing the most common maladies the seamstress or tailor is likely to encounter with the typical sewing machine. As stated on the website, it's not difficult to understand, and the pdf ability to zoom in and out is very useful. For anyone interested in do-it-yourself sewing machine repair but unable to find classes or an apprenticeship, this is a good, fairly inexpensive place to start.

The Ornament of the World: How Muslims, Jews and Christians Created a Culture of Tolerance in Medieval Spain

4.0 out of 5 stars better than the average text book, June 4, 2010
If not for a university class, I probably wouldn't have bought this book. Be that as it may, it remains in my library and not as a used book on the shelf in the bookstore via their buy back program. It is a worthy introduction to the subject of how three monotheistic religions managed to coexist in Medieval Spain. An introduction. My main complaint is that it leaps back and forth in a confusing manner, dropping the story line only to pick it up again in a concluding remark at the end of the chapter. Much is left unsaid, leaving me curious and thinking of further study, which may be the point after all.
