5.0 out of 5 stars How an enlightened economist should write, September 22, 2010
Finding Yves Smith's book is like finding a corner of the asylum in which measured thinking, clear writing and economic sanity prevails. She takes apart the economics profession in a way that is authoritative and fair, but devastating. She explains how we have been conned in ways that are lucid, objective and often times witty. The economics profession will be forever changed by this book - although it might take the professionals some time to realise that. No matter. What is important is that we, her readers, lose our respect and awe for a profession that has colluded with the finance sector to undermine democracy and wreak such havoc on the American middle class, and on societies all over the world. This book will stiffen the spines of true democrats, and enable us to reclaim democracy and capitalism, from those who have corrupted both. That is why it is so important.
