5.0 out of 5 stars Good one from JPod, March 24, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
A good collection of essays and posts from both Commentary's dead-tree and daily blog editions, covering recent events both in Israel and abroad that affect not just Israelis and Jews, but those who want to champion their cause in an ever-increasingly hostile environment.

4.0 out of 5 stars Concise and to the point, March 24, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
David Meir Levi puts the facts on the table succinctly and concisely. No fluff, no BS - it's just the facts in a quick and easy-to-read format. The facts are clear and simple; the PA and their allies (including the BDS crowd in Europe and the US) are trying to rewrite history by propagating the "big lie" - claiming that the modern-day Jewish nation has no ties, historic or otherwise, to the land between the Mediterranean and the Jordan River. If you are looking for a set of talking points to set your local wingnuts straight, and don't have the time or patience to dig into a more complete history - this short read is a good starting point.

5.0 out of 5 stars A perfect fit, March 24, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Glad I went ahead and ordered the Speck case; it was exactly as described and actually showed up at my door several hours after placing my order, on the same day I submitted my order.

Snug fit, but cutouts offer more than enough space for connecting Thunderbolt, USB, HDMI, etc.

Pro-tip: Make sure to remove and clean the case, along with the laptop cover about 1x month. You don't want dust getting caught in the vents or between the cover and the case.

I've seen other 3rd party cases offered for MacBooks - but not all of them are designed for the retina display. Important to check and verify before ordering.

5.0 out of 5 stars Moshe's tefillin knot, March 6, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
To write about Moshe Rabbeinu - it's no wonder that Herman Wouk's attempted manuscript & notes sat in a folder for decades. There is simply no way to this figure head-on. Mr. Wouk knew it, and realized that the only way he could write anything about the Lawgiver would be to look at Moses the way Moses "looked" at G-d (according to a Midrash) indirectly, via his tefillin knot. In this case, the author wrapped the story within a multi-layered tale featuring a diverse cast of characters, all shared with us via emails, faxes, text messages, and the like.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great adapters that do the job, January 18, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
These were delivered quickly and worked as expected during our 2 1/2 week trip. We were able to use them with all of our dual AC voltage (110/220 or 120/240) electronics. The 3 prongs meant little or no sparking (which is common when using 2 prong plug adapters in Israel). Will be using them again next time and ordering more to make sure we've got enough for all of the laptops, mobiles, tablets, and iPods.

5.0 out of 5 stars Intrigue abounds, January 7, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The story of the Aleppo Codex mirrors that of its guardians - it remained intact, if hidden, for centuries until it became the victim of mob rage in 1947. As the Jews of Aleppo - a community that existed for millennia - were scattered to the four corners of the globe, so were many of the pages of this historically significant document. The majority of it wound up in Israel, but it was kept in obscurity for decades. The contradictions in the official accounts of how this came to be are addressed by the author, as he takes the reader through the world of booksellers and bibliophiles, antiquities dealers and agents. Through all this, he comes up with what is (probably) the most accurate accounting of the Codex's last days in Aleppo, and its journey to Jerusalem.

5.0 out of 5 stars Red Pill reading, January 7, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This was the kind of book that would probably make most people uncomfortable, in that the author documents the roots, triggers, and the inevitable rise of antisemitism in today's global society. Prof. Goldhagen approaches the subject by identifying the spread of the most "popular" themes (and memes). Some may be initially labelled as "anti-Zionist" (in that at first glance they appear to be directed only towards Israel and/or Israelis, as opposed to local Jewish communities) but it soon becomes all too apparent that the sources for these items are based on classic antisemitic themes, reworked for a post-modern audience.
