2.0 out of 5 stars Weak, September 24, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Terminal Jive (Audio CD)
This is among Sparks weakest albums by any measure. The fact it is the follow-up to a brilliant monster of a record (No. 1 in Heaven) makes it seem all the worse. When I'm With You was deservedly a smash hit in Europe, but there is precious little else worthy of anyone's time here. If you happen to be in the process of building a Sparks catalog, this should be among your very last acquisitions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great work from a living legend., November 30, 2002

Anyone who is a fan of Os Mutantes, especially their later, more "progressive rock" oriented albums, will want to give Sergio's latest a listen. Unlike his largely disappointing "Mind Over Matter", most of the words here are in Portuguese. I think the fact that this record is intended mostly for the Brazilian audience means that Sergio feels more comfortable being himself. I got the feeling listening to "Mind Over Matter" that he was too anxious to appeal to international "adult" rock listeners. This time he made a record that reflects the Sergio that Mutantes fans know and love: still an idealist in his lyrics, still a masterful musician, still possessing a beautiful voice. His new millenium redux of "Anjos do Sul" needs to be heard! I don't think I am going out on a limb by saying that this is the best "Mutantes related" record in a long, long time. That alone should be enough to convince fans of the group to get "Estacao da Luz".

3.0 out of 5 stars Good performance - bad sound, October 18, 2001
This review is from: Oops! Wrong Planet Tour (Audio CD)
This one is STRICTLY for the obsessive TR collectors like myself. The master was obviously a HIGH generation tape of the original radio broadcast. The real shame of it all is that the performance itself is worth hearing - particularly considering the unusual set list.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pedestrian Live Set, January 21, 2001

Hardcore fans like me will enjoy giving this a few spins, but it is inferior in every way to What Do You Want From Live. Still, there are some old gems that shine here. The track listing is sort of like a comprimise between 70s and 80s, fans of the 80s will be a whole lot happier though. The two new tracks are better than I expected. While it is annoying to break the "live" flow, the group is correct in assuming that this is the only way they could get me to buy any of their post-Sputnik material.

3.0 out of 5 stars The beginning of the end, January 8, 2000

Many seem to consider this to be one of AD II's last great recordings. The bottom line is that you probably need to have Phallus Dei and Yeti before you splash out for this one. After the outstanding opening track, the remainder of the disc consists of jams of various lengths, all of which pale compared to the groups first two offerings.
