5.0 out of 5 stars Heavy Duty, June 24, 2014

I measured the thickness at 0.115". Stronger and higher quality than I expected, and the finish quality is quite good.

3.0 out of 5 stars Chocolate should not be crunchy, June 24, 2014
I didn't notice that the "mint" in this bar is little pieces of peppermint candy. That pretty much ruins it for me- chocolate should be smooth.

The Children Who Smelled A Rat
The Children Who Smelled A Rat
by Allan Ahlberg
Edition: Hardcover

1.0 out of 5 stars Nothing here for kids or adults, March 9, 2014
In this book, there are three plots running in parallel, none of them more than mildly interesting and all three will seem pointless to the typical child. The writing is awkward and wordy, superfluous characters are introduced and abandoned, and the whole book is overall a sloppy mess.
One is left with the impression that the author had a bunch of leftover ideas and plot fragments written on 3x5 cards. He shuffled them and sent the stack off to the typesetter, thereby fulfilling his contract for one last book. With all the good children's books out there, don't waste your time on this one, even when you see it on the remainder table at the bookstore for a buck.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good performance, great value, May 20, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This knife is very similar to, and almost as nice as, the equivalent Victorinox product, but about half the price. It's well made and I would expect it to hold up well, as the target market is professional kitchens.

Four stars for quality, five for value.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really sticks and looks good, April 25, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I used this to cut down on the amount of light coming through a glass lampshade. This paint has just the right amount of translucency to produce a mellow green glow. It applies smoothly and levels well, and when dry results in a hard finish that shows no sign of flaking off. I did carefully wash and rinse the lampshade to eliminate finger oils and dirt that would prevent the paint from sticking.
Good stuff!

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great but why so expensive?, April 25, 2013
This stuff works great and most of the reviews here say so. But each tablet is over three dollars. What kind of magic floobydust are they using that makes it so expensive? Do the math- it's almost thirty six dollars per pound. Hopefully the price will come down over time.
I guess we are all so desperate to fix our stinky washing machines that we will pay any price!

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy replacement, September 26, 2012
I'm glad Komperdell makes these tips available to give my poles their original firm bite on rock. It's easy to replace them. Dip the old pole tips in boiling water for about a minute, and they will twist right off (wear gloves). The new ones just press on. It takes longer to boil the water than it does to swap out the tips.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works fine with S95, June 28, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Fits and works fine with a Canon S95. Capacity seems ok- straight out of the box, it took about 40 full power flash shots to drop the battery indicator by one bar. The included plastic storage case is nice too, as this battery will be used as a backup.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great watch and an incredible value, April 11, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
For the price, I think this is one of the best watches Casio makes. Here's why:

The watch looks better than the pictures you see here. The blue highlighting on the case is darker and more subtle. The black part of the case has tiny embedded metal flakes and a luster that makes it look more like ion-plated metal than plastic. The backlight lights up the entire face with a soft orange light that has great contrast and won't ruin your night vision. The case measures 43 mm, but the cutouts for the pushers, and the bezel styling, make it look smaller. It doesn't have the bulky, overwhelming look of the G-Shocks and the low weight means it rides lightly on your wrist.

The tide function is improved compared to older Casio tide watches. Older models required you to enter the "lunitidal interval" for your location if you want an accurate tide readout. This watch only needs the time of the first high tide of the day, then it calculates the lunitidal interval and stores it internally for all subsequent calculations- it's a one-time setup. Also, unlike older Casios, this watch displays the relative height of the tide, indicating higher tides near the new and full moons. Note that the tidal model used by this watch is fairly simple and its accuracy depends on how complex the tides are at your location. It is more accurate for the east coast of the US, and less accurate for some locations on the west and gulf coasts. Check the tide graphs on tidesonline.noaa.gov and compare them to what the watch is telling you before relying on it.

Other features I like are: a stopwatch that measures a full 24 hours, dual time display that shows foreign and home city simultaneously, five alarms (a little louder than usual), and a 24 hour countdown timer. The solar charging function easily keeps the battery full, and avoids the expense of battery changes, and breaking the watertight integrity of the case to perform those changes.

Overall, I think this is a great value in a watch. It's hard to believe how much functionality you get for the price.

2.0 out of 5 stars not accurate, March 23, 2012

Mine read four degrees higher than all my other thermometers. Humidity was too high as well. Unfortunate, because I liked the big display.
