5.0 out of 5 stars Different from the "usual" Leslie., August 6, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Just got this DVD this afternoon, popped it in and did both parts. It is a 30 minute walk with no mile markers. It is just a fast-paced and varied walk. The second section was the weights/toning section. I really liked it and this one will be usable for a long while, if one keeps increasing weights as the exercises get easier with repetition and hopefully, increasing strength and fitness. Kind of wish there were more abs exercises, but never the less it is a good well-rounded workout which hits all the requirements of aerobic exercise and strength training, especially necessary as one gets older. I'll use this DVD - both sections - on Tues/Thurs/Sat and do the 5-mile walk DVDs on Mon/Wed/Fri. for an hour workout every day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for those starting out or needing a little refreshing., January 25, 2012
I have had this book for a while now and find it to be a good resource for those starting out with photography or those who want to refresh their skills. Sometimes it is good to have a little reminder now and then to keep our skills tip-top. I also like the information on processing. The tips are simple and provide a nice little "pop" to your photographs, if you follow the instructions given.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worthy Of Your Bookshelf, October 6, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a very good book which discusses of the importance of taking photographs which speak to your heart and emotions. I think the key word in the prior sentence is "your." You are taking photographs for yourself to document your life and the occurances you and your family experience. It is not a book about taking photographs for others or for profit. It doesn't speak to technical aspects of photography. It is more about "seeing." The book contains ten chapters each authored by a different person. Some are obviously better writers than others, but the content (photographs and tips) are solid throughout. This is a different type of photography book and one which you can refer to over and over to refresh your vision and restart your creativity.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, But Could Be Better!, March 5, 2009
This books is really a treat. There are a number of good and practical items which can be made for the house or the family. I like the simplicity of the items. What is excellent, and its too bad it is not included in the book are some of the drawings and the wardrobe ideas which are found on the Heather Ross blog site. They would have really enhanced the book and added a bit more practicality/real world application to the book. Nevertheless, it is a great book and beautifully done.

2.0 out of 5 stars Pretty on the surface..., November 15, 2008
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I love her website, I love her fabrics and she always is coming up with unique designs. What a huge disappointment this book was. It is extremely pretty to look at, however there is nothing of substance here. It feels like at the "second-string" ideas were put in this book. Go to the website and you'll see gorgeous, unique dresses, purses and home dec ideas, but sadly, you won't find them in this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Should have had a spiral binding!, January 5, 2007

Great book - lovely to look at, simple patterns for quick sewing with good results. BUT.....it should have had a user-friendly spiral binding!!!! If I'm going to put this book to use, I want it to be flat on my work surface.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Modern Christmas Movie!, November 25, 2006
This review is from: The Christmas List (DVD)
I was sure to catch this little gem this year! Lovely, fun, family movie for the holidays. They don't make many modern holiday movies which are really good - this is one of them. Can't understand why it isn't out on DVD?!? Many seem to enjoy it and it is just so much fun!

5.0 out of 5 stars Necessary Information......, March 14, 2006

and should be required reading for every U.S. citizen who loves freedom, opportunity for those who wish to pursue it, the Bible and the red, white and blue. This book provides clear explanation of the Islamic principles and counters with examples from the Bible. True differences are pointed out and it is frightening when one invisions the possible future if we allow ourselves to let fear of bluntness and this notion called political correctness drive our actions. Like one reviewer wrote, Bush really does need to read this book, as does every good U.S. citizen!

5.0 out of 5 stars I Like It!!, December 27, 2005
It's odd, it's different and it's British - what's not to love?!? Very neatly packaged book with a good informative section and accessible projects which some might view as oddities, however I have state - just how many sweaters can a person own and use? Sometimes it's good to get off the beaten track and do something different. This is it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating....., December 27, 2005
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Just fascinating! What an intriguing look into a very odd life of both mother and daughter. The abundant pictures enhance and keep tale flowing forward. While some of the details are speculative, the reader can get a very clear picture of Dare and her mother. It's almost like passing by a wreck. It horrifies you, yet you can't help but "stare" (in this case, keep turning the pages!).
