4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Solid Read, June 23, 2015

This book is pretty interesting and does a great job painting the picture of how this concept is fairly new over the course of history. Cooper's style is easy enough to follow and his research is thorough.

I like how it covers leaders from a wide range of countries. It doesn't lose a beat as it bounces around either. I could definitely see this book being used in an academic setting, which isn't really a surprise given Cooper's background, but it's not strictly an academic text either.

All in all this is a pretty good read for history/political science buffs. If you know someone who's a fan of the genre, this could make for entertaining beach reading.

AmazonBasics USB 3.0 A Male to A Male Cable - 6.5 Feet (2 Meters)
AmazonBasics USB 3.0 A Male to A Male Cable - 6.5 Feet (2 Meters)
Price: $6.49

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply Marvelous, June 22, 2015
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Male to Male USB cables are certainly a niche market, but this a well made product. I'm glad that some of the older cables, like RCA, are being phased out. AmazonBasics has made a nice cable at an affordable price.

It looks very durable. I have some other AmazonBasics cables that all seem to hold up better than most of their competitors. It's easy to coil and looks like it could last years.

This is the sort of product that Amazon could get away with charging a lot more for, being a niche product. I'm glad they didn't. It's hard to beat this cable if you're looking for Male to Male USB cables

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Toy, June 19, 2015
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Nerf guns aren't just for boys. Girls need stylish foam weapons as well. This one certainly offers up that possibility, though I'm sure plenty of boys would like to play with this as well.

This is a fun toy. It shoots well. I like the design. You can go all pink commando on whoever you want. The colors of the darts themselves are also spectacular.

The only real problem I have with this is the messenger dart. It's silly and rather pointless. I won't be using it.

If your child wants a nerf blaster, get them this one. You won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating Read, June 16, 2015
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Dickey has created a narrative masterpiece here. Our Man in Charleston is a well researched account of Robert Bunch's role in the Civil War and that alone would make it worth reading. Especially for Civil War buffs.

You feel like you're in Charleston (a lovely city), but at the same time, you're also learning history. Most books tends to gravitate toward either entertainment or education. Rarely does a book exceed with both.

This is a must read for history fans. I'm amazed that such a captivating account took this long to write. Bravo to Dickey for carving his niche in a well trodden field.

3.0 out of 5 stars Creative but Underwhelming, June 16, 2015
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Part of me just wants to give this book points for effort. The concept is fun. The execution... not so much.

The recipes are fun. It's a creative concept and rare to have a narrative intertwined with food like this. The writing isn't great though. It definitely takes away from what could've been a truly memorable read.

I imagine this book will appeal to Smith's blog following. For everyone else, eh. There are better books out there. The recipes are nice, but not enough to endure this mess.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Resource, June 16, 2015
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
My sister was recently diagnosed with Celiac's so I jumped at the opportunity to read this book. Gluten free can be very difficult and this book takes you through the ins and outs of living a healthy, and more importantly tasty, lifestyle.

This book is filled with useful information. It takes you through all the misconceptions regarding gluten and teaches you what to avoid. My favorite section is the recipes. There's a lot of innovative concepts here that many will enjoy, even those who don't need to have a gluten free diet.

All in all, there's much to enjoy here. A great read and a must have for anyone who needs to be gluten free or wants to be.

Anatomy of a Misfit

2.0 out of 5 stars Anatomy of a Failure!, June 16, 2015
This review is from: Anatomy of a Misfit (Hardcover)
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
When books describe themselves as "this meets that," it creates a certain unreasonable expectation which isn't fair to the author since nine times out of ten it's the publisher who insists on that nonsense. With the case of Anatomy of a Misfit, I think we have a situation where the author tried to make Mean Girls meets Perks of Being a Wallflower. She failed.

I couldn't shake the feeling that the author thought this book was something really fresh and edgy. The characters may talk like they're all that, but it doesn't read like that. They're uninteresting and unlikable.

What's there to like in this book? Not much. It's silly and a waste of time. YA fans may want to give this a read, but I don't think that's a good idea.

Burning Bush 2.0: How Pop Culture Replaced the Prophet
Burning Bush 2.0: How Pop Culture Replaced the Prophet
by Paul Asay

4.0 out of 5 stars A Decent Pop Culture/Faith Book, June 15, 2015
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I'm kind of on the fence about this one. There's a lot of books out there that talk about pop culture and faith. Usually, there's not a ton of research as was the case with this book. It's lighthearted and that's okay.

I gave this four instead of three because I think Paul Asay did a good job giving his base something they'd like to read. I'm not sure how many new fans will be drawn to this kind of writing, but he's got a good following.

I didn't agree with a lot of his points, but the writing was decent enough. A solid read, though maybe not one I'd pay money for if I wasn't familiar with the author already.

1.0 out of 5 stars Liking This Book Is Not Easy, June 15, 2015
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This book reminded me a lot of the movie "The Last Days of Disco." Maybe the author is a big fan and tried to create similar characters. In any event, she failed with her characters.

This book has no likable characters and no humor that doesn't feel like it's part of an inside joke. Perhaps the author wrote it for her friends. That's fine, but it's a waste of everyone else's time.

As someone who probably should have understand this humor, I found myself very disappointed with this book. A huge waste of time. Stay away!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good Spray, June 7, 2015
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
There's a few things to consider with a product like this. It works, but it requires a lot of maintenance. As far as application goes, it's pretty simple.

While it's advertised as sunless tanning, you should almost go about applying this as if It was sunscreen since you need to avoid clothes and furniture until it dries. I didn't have any problems with that, but it's definitely something to consider.

The price is not available so I can't comment on that. I'm not sure this is the kind of product I'd use indefinitely, but it does work.
