Philips Sonicare HX3631/06 Powerup Battery Toothbrush, Medium, Scuba Blue
Philips Sonicare HX3631/06 Powerup Battery Toothbrush, Medium, Scuba Blue
Price: $14.99

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Value, October 22, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Electric toothbrushes come in all shapes and sizes these days. If you don't have the budget or the desire to get one of the super fancy ones, you can buy one like this Phillips Sonicare. For the price, it's hard to beat.

But what does that really mean? This toothbrush does have some flaws. The battery is kind of annoying and the fact that it doesn't recharge is a problem. The brush itself is a bit rough at first until you get used to it.

The question is how much of this can be credited to the old "you get what you pay for" mentality. A toothbrush that costs this little isn't going to be perfect. It's a good segway into the world of electric toothbrushes, but it's probably more of a stopgap than a permanent solution.

The Best American Comics 2014
The Best American Comics 2014

5.0 out of 5 stars A Diverse Selection of Comics, October 21, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
As a casual comics fan, this book was a real treat to read. I'd heard of a few of the names, particularly Adrian Tomine, but most of these comics were unfamiliar. Most were also very enjoyable.

This anthology is different from many others in the sense that it includes material that's part of a larger story, rather than something like a short story collection which doesn't have such abrupt endings. I suppose this could be problematic for certain people, but I enjoyed the sampling of so many different types of material.

If you love comics, you should definitely pick this book up. It's a fantastic resource for discovering new talent and I really enjoyed reading it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable Quality, October 18, 2014

iPhone cases are tricky. Some are too big. Some are too small that they don't even offer adequate protection. So like the three little bears, there has to be one that fits just right, right?

This is one of the least obtrusive cases I've ever used. The grip is fantastic and it hardly feels like it's on at all. It fits perfectly in your pocket with next to no added bulk.

Design wise, it's a good looking case. It's definitely masculine in nature, but I've received a few compliments on it already. It also looks like it can take a punch or two.

The price is hard to beat for the quality. I've really enjoyed this case. It's durable and will last you a long time.

Moriarty
Moriarty
by Anthony Horowitz
Edition: Hardcover
Price: $19.88

5.0 out of 5 stars Horowitz Is a Great Contemporary Holmes Writer, October 13, 2014
This review is from: Moriarty (Hardcover)
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
As Sherlock Holmes gets more and more mainstream popularity, somewhat hard to imagine given its immense longevity, there's naturally going to be adaptations that aim to capitalize on the TV shows and the movies. As with any modern day take on a beloved character, it's natural to see mixed results.

Horowitz avoids that. The vote of confidence from Holmes' estate is a good ice breaker to separate this from the other available modern Holmes, but its the prose that really wins you over. Horowitz doesn't try to mimic Conan Doyle, but rather he tries to pay tribute to him. He captures Moriarty's essence, which is more than enough.

This book is about as good a modern day Holmes book as you'll find. It's enjoyable in its own right, which should excuse it from unfair comparisons to the Conan Doyle's actual work. If you're looking for a good Holmes story, be sure to check this one out.

Disney Princess Aurora Hooded Bath/Beach Poncho Towel
Disney Princess Aurora Hooded Bath/Beach Poncho Towel
Price: $12.69
6 used & new from $7.25

5.0 out of 5 stars Not a Great Towel, but a Wonderful Fashion Statement, October 8, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This Poncho towel has a couple flaws, but none are dire enough to negate its deserved five star rating. Admittedly, this is not a great towel. It doesn't absorb much at all.

But one look at it shows you that this isn't really meant to function as a towel. It's a princess poncho that your kid will go crazy for. It's adorable and very reasonably priced.

This is probably better suited for the beach than the bath lest you wish to deal with water all over your floors. The sun can also dry your kid off in a way that the towel might not. But your child will be happy as she struts around looking like a princess. That's really all that matters.

3.0 out of 5 stars Has Some Nice Features, But is Somewhat Dated, October 8, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
As I installed and browsed through the features in this Roxio Toast Titanium 12 Mac, I kept asking myself the same question. Does this do anything that free software hasn't been able to do for years?

The simple answer is not really. It does some things better than the free software. Screen capturing is simple. DVD burning is nice, though with encryption issues, it isn't as useful as it could.

The bigger question is whether or not this thing is worth $90. Maybe. I'm sure there are niche markets out there that appreciate the setup of Toast better than the free offerings. But to the average user, this is all stuff that would have been really useful to have five years ago. Now it's just sort of unnecessary.

Deluxe Light Up Flutterbye Fairy - Rainbow

3.0 out of 5 stars A Bit Difficult to Use, But Fun, October 8, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This toy reminds me of those Sky Dancer toys which I guess they still make. This one aims to be more of a controlled toy that's sole purpose isn't to fly out of control and leave dents in your ceiling. That said, it'll still manage to do that if you're not careful.

One you manage to liberate the Flutterbye fairy from its packaging, you have to charge the thing for about half an hour. After that, it's pretty cool, albeit difficult. Parents may want to figure out how to work the thing before leaving children alone with it.

This is best utilized outdoors, where the fairy has more room to do its things. Indoors are tricky with walls and ceilings and I question the toy's durability with something like that.

It's a fun toy. It's a little pricey and somewhat limited in its function, but when it's working it looks pretty neat. Definitely something kids will get a kick out of.

Oxo Steel CorkPull Wine Opener/Corkscrew
Oxo Steel CorkPull Wine Opener/Corkscrew

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Corkscrew, October 1, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Wine openers can be a bit of a mixed bag, especially the heavy duty ones. You'd think that mankind would have figured out a way to perfect the art of accessing this ancient beverage by now. I won't say this one is perfect, but it's quite good.

It requires next to no effort from the person. You can be as inebriated as you want while operating this thing and it'll get the job done. No more finagling your way around corks when you've had a few too many.

That said, it's a bit slow. It's effective, but slow. How important that is will vary, but it's something worth considering.

This wine opener gets the job done and it doesn't screw things up. It's a worthwhile investment if you enjoy wine.

Epson Expression Premium XP-820 Wireless Color Photo Printer with Scanner, Copier and Fax
Epson Expression Premium XP-820 Wireless Color Photo Printer with Scanner, Copier and Fax
Price: $159.99
16 used & new from $159.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Multifaceted Printer, September 23, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Printers are a pain, perhaps unnecessarily so nowadays. This Epson Expression bucks that trend, something that's rather surprising considering the number of features it has. Alas, simplicity and multiplicity worked quite well together.

The printer does a fabulous job on photos. The pictures I've tried out look marvelous and one has to make sure that they don't get caught up in its addicting nature. I suppose that's a good thing.

The printer handles its other tasks quite well. It's easy to hook up to a network for wi-fi printing, something that can often be a pain. Being able to print something from a different room is a nice feature that's often hard to actually put into practice.

If you're looking for a color photo printer that can handle all your other printing needs, look no further. This printer is the complete package and it does everything well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Reasonably Priced Quality Apron, September 10, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This is sort of the rare exception to the novelty seasonal item in the sense that it's price accurately reflects the product. This apron is funny and should supply you or your spouse with a reasonable number of laughs at a Christmas party. I suppose it's worth noting that it appears to be a suitable apron as well.

The price point is key. It's twenty dollars. I'm sure the seasonal theme might cause a supplier to jack the price up, but it fits here. The quality is good. It isn't great, though that's to be expected with something like this.

This apron serves the purpose you'd want it to. That's about all you'd need to know.
