4.0 out of 5 stars Addictive, February 28, 2015

Yes, the workload assigned to the primary characters is ridiculously, unrealistically enormous, and is something that, more realistically, would be spread over several 'couples, cells'. Yes the primary FBI characters are often maddeningly bumbling/incompetent (due to lapses in the quality of the script). But overall, it is easy to get hooked on the series because you just cant resist having to find out what happens next. Also, much of the acting is superb, especially the job done by Annet Mahendru. She is simply perfect- including her flawless, accent- free Russian.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Must Watch, December 18, 2014
Exceptionally well acted by all that appear in this series. Remarkably well written and directed. Thoughtful, compelling, mature, insightful windows into the complex/ troubled worlds of some very interesting personalities. The only (minor) negative: in two or three episodes in which the lead character is joined by his wife in a session with another analyst, he behaves uncharacteristically and insipidly clueless about how to deal with his wife's infidelity. Yes, I know that the intent is to demonstrate that no matter how well we might understand other's problems, we are all prone to being ignorant about our own issues. However, in these sessions, that message could have been conveyed very effectively in more subtle ways.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Throw Away, December 12, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
For those with small heads, these might be acceptable. My head size is on the higher end of a normal distribution and, for me, this item is a throw away. The size adjustment range falls far short of being adequate. There is a very good reason why traditional ear muffs fit OVER the head. It is because they stay put no matter what. These newer designs are intended to slip on from behind, and it appears that they might be of marginal utility if you are active- even if you have a small head.

3.0 out of 5 stars Zero Entertainment- Yet Worth Watching, November 15, 2014
Some productions are worth watching strictly for their entertainment value. This series is not one of them. There is nothing entertaining about being exposed to depravity, to sociopaths, to incompetence- both individual and bureaucratic- to characters that are often prone to make stupid decisions, and those that display inappropriate behavior. However, it is very useful, now and then, to be reminded that such "imperfections" exist in our society, in our social organizations (especially in governmental bureaucracies). This series' primary value-add is to serve as such a reminder, and is worth being exposed to for that reason.

3.0 out of 5 stars Somewhat Tedious, November 7, 2014
Although at least half a dozen of the actors do a superb job (while quite a few others are mediocre), the series is, fundamentally, a collection of what were once kindly referred to as "B Movies". Much of what is scripted/presented is tedious. If not for the frequent (simulated?) sex scenes, it is doubtful that the series would have had the viewership/ratings that it had. For me, being exposed to this first season is enough. It would be a waste of time to see the rest of the series.

Superb performances by Spader, etal. Clever scripts, Fine cinematography. Best, by far, in it's time slot... in fact it is in the top 3 of broadcast TV offerings.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Unique, Beautifull Interpretation, August 9, 2014

This review is from: Sweet Betsy From Pike (MP3 Music)
Ostroushka is a master. His mastery of the mandolin (and violin) is remarkable, and his unique style is exceptionally endearing. This nostalgic, low key rendition of 'Betsy' is beautifully done. However, the piano segment- although performed flawlessly- doesn't "fit", is somewhat out of place. Otherwise: "Five Stars".

5.0 out of 5 stars A Gem, July 25, 2014

Technically superb- strictly DDD, no compression, and without the distracting background noises that spoiled the low volume passages of far too many CDs recorded in the 1980s. Artistically excellent- the tight conducting, musicianship, the superb voices. The score is outstanding- ranging in breadth from sublimely melodic passages to ones that are robust, triumphant, powerful. Having recently attended a performance of this opera by the Opera Company of Middlebury VT- brilliantly reset by artistic director Douglas Anderson to "Algiers, Kansas" in the 1950s- I could not help but visualize that superb, hilarious production while listening to this CD- and thus heightening my enjoyment of this recording. If the MET were to use Anderson's production (along with his customized supertitles) it is highly likely that it would be hugely popular, and become a staple that they would want to bring back again and again.

1.0 out of 5 stars Blatantly Misrepresented, June 23, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I don't know what "Volvo" drives this is supposed to fit, but it DOES NOT fit my Volvo Penta stern drive- not even close. There is nothing unusual about my Volvo drive: about as standard as they come. To fit my standard Volvo drive requires that the distance from the center of the cups to the inside of the sharp bend in the metal component (the "tip" of the "V") be at least 5" - 5.5". That dimension on this flusher is only 2.5". The cups don't cover the drives water inlet AT ALL- not even close.
