5.0 out of 5 stars You think you know about Vinyl... you have no idea., December 18, 2013
This review is from: Rain Dogs (Paperback)
The quick pitch is that it’s about running a record store (actual Vinyl) in the digital age. Sounds like pretty standard slice of life stuff but not once you meet the primary characters… then you get an epic storyline complete with a retirement home full of dystopian retirees pretty much straight out of Mad Max 2 (or 3)! Pick up this book! At that price it's a steal! Then go online and read the rest of the story. You'll be glad you did!

5.0 out of 5 stars Your first mighty step into the world of Zombie Oaks!, November 16, 2013
It came from Dirt Burger is your first step into the delightfully bizarre world of Zombie Oaks. At first glance you might think that you know what you're getting in the form of zombies but get ready for everything you thought you knew about zombies to get thrown out the window! In fact... this first volume actually has almost no zombies but sets the very eclectic stage for a world about to get it's own taste of the zombie apocalypse (among quite a few other things)... without giving you spoilers you will get genetically modified super chickens, Snipers, Mad Scientists, The Every Man, Mutant creatures grown out of the effects of fast food, and a talking tank driving monkey manning the cash register of the local pet store! Seriously? Aren't you curious now? Why not give it a look?!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Solid Return From Tool, December 7, 2001
This review is from: Lateralus (Audio CD)
If you have been following Tool since the beginning then I think you will find that this CD is not as heavy and angry but it has a lot of the melodic styling of Maynard's voice blended with the expert guitar work we've grown to love. Tool is stretching out in this album maturing into what they are best at. This might not be the album that you drive to but it's the music that you'll be missing when you're not listening to it... and it's definitely Tool which is worth the money right there

5.0 out of 5 stars It's about time, December 7, 2001
This review is from: Live (Audio CD)
I've been looking for a Leguizamo CD forever and this one was well worth the wait. The parts where Leguizamo sings were not tremendous but where his singing voice lacks his wit more than makes up for it. If you like John's Humor you will not be disappointed by this CD

5.0 out of 5 stars Ever wanted to be a hero?, November 20, 2000
This review is from: Red Branch (Mass Market Paperback)
This book was a fun read for me. I am a biased reviewer because I like Morgan's books, so know that up front. This one is an interpretation of the story of Cuhulain and the Cooley Cattle Raid this story goes beyond the myth and attempts to describe the hero and his life starting as a boy with his strange obsured origins and continue through his remarkable childhood into his destiny as a warrior and man. I really enjoy Llywelyn's character development and I feel its one of her strengths as an author. It puts heart and a personality to a piece of timeless Bardic lore. This one stands as one of my favorite Morgan Llywelyn books.

4.0 out of 5 stars If you are a die hard fan of Irish Myth, October 3, 2000
This set has a lot of interesting opinions on the famous myths of Ireland and has some beautiful aerial views of Tara but I found the narrator to be repetitive and redundant the only reason I gave the set such a high score is because the tapes are produced fairly well and I think that they would be wonderful videos to show in Literature classes(High School particularly) to emphasize Irish mythology (which sometimes gets glossed over... if it's even covered) The tape about The Warrior Queen Maeve retells rather quickly the story of Cuhulain and the cattle raid of Cooley a good way to introduce others to some of the less widely known Irish Myths.

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Tales at an Affordable Price, September 27, 2000
Great tales of Ulster and the warriors of the red branch. The story of Deidre and the burden of her beauty is one of the greatest tradgedies of mythic Ireland. Also the stories of Bricriu are some of the most entertaining (the irish Loki). These tales far exceed the price tag.

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved it., September 11, 2000
I was a Morgan Llywelyn fan before I read it, but it was this book that sealed it for me. I gobbled this book up it was a quick entertaining read that clued me into some of the more ancient Irish history that I really didn't know about. As with most historical fiction this book will be contested by folks who claim they "know better" but this book works really hard to captures the soul of a king that could not be held back it chronicles his adventures, successes, failures, and the loves of his life. I enjoyed the vivid descriptions she gave of the battles that Brian Boru fought. It also gave a surprising account of Viking history and mythology to go along with the mystique of the Irish which is ever-present in many of her books. A great read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good follow up, and a quick read, September 11, 2000
This book was fun, and much shorter than it's predecessor (Lion of Ireland). It doesn't top the preceding book (Lion of Ireland) but I don't think it was intended to. This book is about Brian Boru's youngest son and how he struggles to live up to his father's impossible achievements. This book kind of struggles and pales in comparison to the the book that came before but for me that was its charm. I enjoy stories where the hero isn't necessarily destined to do great things, and has to work extremely hard to succeed; also the hero doesn't always do the right thing and isn't always loved by his people which made it feel very honest in it's approach. It's short enough that I didn't come away from it feeling like I'd wasted my time and I have to admit that after Lion of Ireland I was curious how the world got on without (Morgan Llywelyn's) Brian Boru.
