2.0 out of 5 stars Some decent parts, mostly boring and just wrong, October 23, 2013
There are some well-written tense scenes in the book, but most of it is just spent wandering aimlessly, with things that aren't particularly amusing happening for no reason. It's taking a promising premise (powers based on quantum mechanics and world jumping/interaction) and just squandering it completely. A serial killer that gets sick in a different way every time after he kills someone. Why? *Waves hands* Quantum mechanics! And the attempt to say that quantum mechanics means faith and heaven is real or people's lives are interconnected in some way is just a horrible misunderstanding of the field. It's an affront to the idea of using science as a tool to make specific, repeatable predictions about the world. It wouldn't bother me so much except that Koontz goes on after the book that he REALLY thinks this stuff is true. And that every religious character is perfect and wonderful and the only atheist is a deranged serial killer.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fine, but not a slidebelt, September 21, 2013

Got this and had to return it because at the time it had the wrong width listed. Ended up getting a Slidebelt instead so now when I see other belts I think "why would I ever wear this"?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great belt, August 8, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I never knew what I was missing out on. This is significantly easier to put on and take off than a regular belt. The build and mechanisms feel quite solid and it makes a satisfying click when it ratchets in. The buckle separates and attaches easily and cleanly from the belt, meaning you can switch out for different colors, replace the strap separately or even modify the length of the belt with scissors. The strap isn't too wide so it fits within the loops of all my pants (which many belts don't do). It's also stiff enough to easily thread through the loops. The sizing listed was spot-on; it ended up squarely in the middle of the track for me.

I don't think I'll use another belt ever again.

(Update) Over a few months the teeth that hold the belt on can wear out the strap and start popping off more easily when dropped or start tearing out. Fortunately the fix is easy: just cut off the quarter inch or so that has the holes in it and it works fine again.

2.0 out of 5 stars The audiobook is nearly unlistenable, November 11, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The narrator starts out his sentences incredibly loud, then trails off into a barely audible mumble at the end. If you turn the sound up high enough to catch the ends, the start will be intolerably loud. I had to run the whole book through a Dynamic Range Compression filter and re-burn to CD to make it a tolerable experience. But the content of the book is pretty good, so I'm giving it 2 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite trance album, October 8, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Nightmusic 3 (Audio CD)
The first disc is just magical. The 8 tracks at the end of it (from All the Way to Red Moon Slide) are just a continuous stream of awesome. It's a high point of the Nightmusic series and of trance in general.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice music but the least of the 3 Nightmusic compilations., October 8, 2011

I liked this album but it simply didn't impress me as much as Nightmusic 2 and 3. There were sections of those that were just magical but I didn't find anything like that here.

Butterfly TW23 Outdoor Home Rollaway Table Tennis Table
Butterfly TW23 Outdoor Home Rollaway Table Tennis Table

4.0 out of 5 stars Good table, but beware of the net!, September 14, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The table is quite sturdy and it's really easy to take out and put away. The problem is that the net doesn't have enough tension. Shots often hit the net and flop over, making for a fair number of randomly un-returnable shots. As I understand the net should have more tension that that: so that shots are a lot more likely to bounce off or at least become returnable if they hit the net. Also there's no way to adjust the tension with the given net.

I called Butterfly about what replacement nets would be compatible with the table and they said the Stallion and National net sets (with adjustable tension) would be, but that you COULD NOT fold the table up with that net installed on it. Since we're keeping the table outdoors and it has to be folded up to fit under its protective cover, that means we basically would need to install and remove the net every time we wanted to play. Now I have to figure out whether I want to put up with a floppy net or deal with all of that hassle. :(

5.0 out of 5 stars Work fine, seem sturdy enough, April 26, 2011

With that one negative review I was expecting brittle plastic, but they seem decently flexible and thick enough for the job. I used them on some normal-sized beet and pear cans and they fit quite snugly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best handheld game period., March 26, 2011
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Elite Beat Agents NDS (Video Game)
Fantastic game. Easy to get into and understand, but can get devilishly difficult. I played through on the 2, 3 then 4 star difficulties, then all over again on a new cart. Even now I'll play my favorite stages again when I feel like it. "September" or "ABC" never fail to lift my spirits. The stories and animation are stylish, absurd and fun. There are plenty of good songs.

It's a shame there will probably never be a sequel.
