4.0 out of 5 stars Fun Ride, January 7, 2013
Django unchained is similar to Inglorious in that it retains the entertaining if unashamedly ignorant nature of the latter. However, where it falls short of Inglorious is in its reliance on just 4, static, characters to drive a "single" plot (Basterds had two divergent plots and although many of its characters were static, it had a lot more of them. Though some may argue that there were one too many) , something which, considering the length of the movie, wears a bit thin towards the end. Despite this, all the characters are well done and are very well acted with Samuel L Jackson's character proving to be the most interesting of the four (his style reminded me a bit of Grima from the Two Towers).

The micro usb connector is very sturdy. It has held up better than the one that had come packaged with my phone which
got "bent" after a week. The cable itself seems to of high quality and is good value for the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars good phone with an epic display, July 1, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The display is a major highlight. Its absolutely gorgeous. The build quality of the phone is decent. It feels better in the hand than the motorola atrix series. The battery life is horrible and the skin on top of gingerbread is hideous. However unlike several unlocked phones,Most of att's stuff is removable which is a plus point.

Update:

ATT has finally, almost two months after the ics rom leak, decided to give us the official rom. ICS, inherently, improves battery life and lg's skin is pretty awesome. Sadly, the bootloader is still locked. Now to ask ATT santa for jelly bean by the end of this year.

The link below contains update directions.

4.0 out of 5 stars nice dress watch, May 31, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The watch is good value for the price.the dial layout is very simple and very legible. The two hand arrangement also helps in the watch's legibility. The watch also seems to keep accurate time. I timed it with a stopwatch running on my phone for a day and it seemed to be in tandem with the stopwatch. However, I couldn't be entirely certain as the watch doesn't feature a seconds hand. The lume on the watch is terrible. there's a fine strip of lume on each hand which doesn't help in the least. The case back features an engraving of the Hamilton logo which is in the form of a square. The engraving in itself looks nice. However, its matte finish doesn't work well with the polished back. In addition, the case back doesn't have proper proportions. The part above the logo has some lettering which is absent on the sides. The emptiness is further magnified by the difference in sizes between the back and the logo.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Phone, March 18, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I got this phone to replace my Nokia N8, a phone which despite its gorgeous and sturdy hardware frustrated me to no end. Let's get this over with shall we,I properly hate the 3d feature. It feels like a gimmick and destroys the battery life. However, to account for 3d's battery sucking nature, the phone comes with a greater capacity battery than the similarly specced htc sensation. Because of my abhorrence towards the 3d camera, the phone, unlike my friend's sensation, easily gets through a day of moderate usage(awesome side effect). The only gripe I have is regarding the hardware aspects of the phone, mainly the ergonomics and the display. Talking of the former, the ergonomics of the phone could have been much better. The biggest culprit here is the camera key, which juts out from the side. The design of the camera key leads to it pressing into the skin and often getting pressed accidentally.Putting a case on the phone, however, negates this problem. The display, while of qHd resolution, has very bad viewing angles. Despite saying this, I would take this display over pentile matrix displays like those of the atrix's and the droid razr's every-time.

The case seems to be pretty sturdy. The kickstand also works really, though getting it out is a pain. The slide out mechanism for removing the case also works really well. Overall, very nice case

Cowon iAUDIO 9 8 GB MP3 Player (Black)
Cowon iAUDIO 9 8 GB MP3 Player (Black)

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good small Player(4.5 stars), July 6, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Pros:
The cowon iaudio 9 has excellent sound quality and great support for audio formats.
JetEffects is a winner in my opinion, especially the BBE headphone eq.
Drag and drop support is great.
eq.
Cons:
The build quality feels kinda cheap for a $120-150 mp3 player(only reason for the 4.5 stars).
The external speaker is pathetic.

Aside:
The max volume,as others have pointed out, isn't very loud, but it is fine for my usage.
Its is more than loud enough for earphones. Though in saying that, Users with open air headphones will find the
max volume a touch low.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good Phone., April 17, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Very Good Phone.
Pros:

-great build quality
-beautiful, (almost)unibody aluminium chassis. Will probably go down as one of the great industrial phone designs.
-Speaker's really loud
-battery life is decent
-great Gorilla Glass Protected 'nHD' AMOLED screen
-Symbian^3 is highly customizable and multitasking friendly
-camera can rival "point and shoot" image quality, though not always. Camera Pro app is a must.
-Call quality is great.
-great GPS reception.

Cons:

-browser sucks big time.Thank god for opera.
-OS can be sluggish
-Symbian^3 can be obtuse for new comers. I have been using nokias' ever since i bought my first phone, so its not a big deal for me
-stock symbian^3 looks ugly
-only 3 homescreens. This wouldn't that bad if the widgets were re-sizable.
-Symbian^3 has inconsistencies
-promised pr2.0/ Anna update still hasn't materialized
-Ovi store doesnt have as many apps as android market or App Store. All the essentials are there though.
-Portrait has no qwerty.Anna update will fix this. Non issue for me as the screen is so narrow that even if it had one, it would probably be very cramped.

The following are the other unlocked phones I had taken into consideration when making my choice

palm pre2: Exactly the opposite of Nokia. Software is the only thing going for it.
Main reasons for not buying it:
-poor battery life
-doesn't work so great outside the states

dell Venue : Great Phone, but expensive.
Main Reasons for not buying it:
-$130 more expensive than the nokia
-Dell's reliability with the streak is iffy
-battery life isn't that great

Htc Desire S: Awesome Awesome phone.
Main Reasons for not buying it:
-$130 more than the nokia n8 (in INDIA)
-wifi reception issues with some phones( check techRadar's review, though engadget don't report of such a problem)

Nokia E7: Great Phone
Main reasons for not buying it:
-Expensive,$679, at the time.
-same internals as the n8, but with a worse camera module

-the E7 currently though is a fantastic buy at around $500 on amazon.

The n8 is a very good phone and one of the best symbian phones out there(at par with the e7 & e71/72 in my opinion). It won't convert people from their iOS, Android and WP7 devices to nokia, but it serves as a great upgrade for those familiar with symbian.

Update : a couple of weeks later: One thing that i have noticed, and which has really impressed me ,is the GPS receiver. The phone locks on pretty quickly. The n8 still lasts a day and a half on normal usage(1-2hrs of talktime and round the clock wifi reception). The battery life reduces to a day on moderate usage.
Quirks: Symbian Anna update still hasn't materialized. Phone becomes "laggy" if left switched on for a continuous period of 3 or more days. A restart fixes the issue though.
Overall, still very happy with the phone.

Update (8 months later) : The symbian anna update has made it much much more usable. Homescreen transitions are smoother and apps load quicker. The phone still feels as robust as it did when it was. On the flip side, the phone's lack of memory is a big problem. I tried opening the full version of theverge.com on opera, which was the only app running, with only one active window and it still contrived to run out of memory. Overall, very satisfied with the purchase and can't wait for symbian belle.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good basic phone, March 30, 2011

The phone is very good for the price. The lack of a volume rocker on the side is
glaring and it can be very frustrating when trying to change the volume during calls.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant little laptop, February 12, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The Laptop is really great value and a very good alternative to the macbook air or the macbook pro 13" as it slots bang in the middle in terms of its weight. The construction is pretty good but a level below the all aluminium macs and the rugged thinkpad w series. It is better than the lenovo x series though. The keyboard is a chiclet type one and has good feedback, but the lack of back lit keys is disappointing. The battery life is good, clocking at around ~5 hours, but I haven't tested it under heavy load i.e graphics intensive programs.

Pros:
processor is fast and better than the laptops in its weight and price (~$800-1500) category.
It weighs 3.2 pounds
screen is bright and has good (not great) viewing angles
Love the minimalist design
magnesium alloy construction
track pad is substantial. It is about the same size as the air's trackpad, though the air's does gestures much much better.

Cons:
hard disk drive can be audible at times
speakers have a tendency to crack at high volumes( read as, "they suck")
A back lit keyboard would have been nice
No discrete graphics - here I feel that toshiba could have used something like the 310M or the 320M and then integrated NVIDIA optimus.
Toshiba Bloatware comes standard, though the themes are nice.

NOTE: The only reason I am giving this a 5 stars and not 4 stars is because there is nothing better in this weight category at this price point.
