4.0 out of 5 stars Gettysburg address for our little ones, September 4, 2011
Lincoln wrote the most important speech in American History-the short but very powerful Gettysburg Speech. This book will expose your kids to this speech in an appropriate way. The illustrations add meaning to the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lincoln is a true man for the ages!, July 11, 2011
Doris Kearns Goodwin does a masterful job on this book about our beloved sixteenth President and his adversarial peers. Lincoln's honest and sincere character shines through on each page. His political genius is very apparent and shows why he is our countries greatest President. There is so much to learn in this book-it should be near the top of any one's reading list on U.S. history. A very complex and incredible tale. Highly recommended!

3.0 out of 5 stars Doubting Thomas, July 7, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is an entertaining and interesting book but nothing more from my point of view. I must say I am very skeptical. I would like to believe in this book more than anything but I just cannot do it! For me to believe I need to experience heaven or anything else for that matter with my own eyes. Unfortunaltely, faith is not a big part of my vocabulary.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fine children's book from a well known series of books, May 16, 2011
Augusta Stevenson did a fine job with this biography of our 16th President. This book focuses on the childhood of this great man and touches on his many incredible qualities-integrity, discipline, humor, etc. After reading this book, choose others from the series titled Childhood of Famous Americans. You and your children will get to know famous American's from a whole new perspective! Learning together is a great way to bond with your child!

4.0 out of 5 stars The best secret is to leave your asset alloction in a rather tight range!, May 7, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
After reading this book I am a little disappointed. I am not going to change my mix of excellent domestic and international equity mutual funds now that I read the book. What I did like is Greenblatt's recommendation to trade as little as possible in either up markets (people tend to buy more equities when it's comfortable to invest in a bull market) or sell as much during a bear market (people sell at lower prices when they panic during a bear market). Simply determine your COMFORTABLE stock allocation-let's say for example 50% and then stay in a 40% to 60% range of equities NO MATTER WHAT! That is EXCELLENT ADVICE and that recommendation alone is worth reading the book!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Picture is worth a thousand words!, April 30, 2011
This wonderful book of photographs of Lincoln and his times is an excellent resource for children of all ages. Photos really do bring history to life from the very first picture taken of Abe in 1846 until just before he was tragically assasinated in 1865. One can really see how the Presidency and the long Civil War took it's toll on Lincoln. Terrific text compliments the fabulous photographs. I recommend you purchase this book for the entire family to enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Green Eggs Please (With a touch of ham)!, April 18, 2011
This review is from: Green Eggs and Ham (Hardcover)
"Green Eggs and Ham" is a timeless Dr. Seuss picture book first published in 1960. I grew up with this book and have enjoyed sharing it with my kids and grandchildren. Wonderful wacky rhymes and weird whimsical illustrations. Dr. Seuss was a genius. Why don't you make your kids green eggs and ham and at the same time read this book to them!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lincoln And The World He Lived In, April 17, 2011
What a unique book! Genevieve Foster shares with the reader a worldwide history lesson from the time of Lincoln' birth in 1809 to his tragic death in 1865. This is truly a masterful display of "horizontal history". I believe this expanded look at history is not only refreshing but puts contemporary lives and events in perspective. A true classic first published in 1944!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Book of Quotations, April 16, 2011
Not only is Lincoln one of our greatest President's but he is also an absolutely incredible man. You will learn a great deal about our beloved 16th President from this little book-his incredible intellect, high morals, and amazing humor. If I could have met just one person in the history of our planet, it would be Abraham Lincoln. Highly recommended!
