4.0 out of 5 stars Good leadership book., April 24, 2011
If you are a new manager, this will help you will be able to get good advice on how to handle different business situations. I recommend this as a source of inspiration for new managers out there.

As for experienced ones, this is a good book to kind of use a benchmark, as a means to compare some of your past actions/experiences with experiences of others. I've been a manager for over 8 years already and some of the stories in this book a familiar, situations that I've been on when I needed to make touch calls. The point context of most of stories here comes from a point of view of entrepreneurs/ C-level personalities. This is a really good book to help people like me who are getting ready for higher responsibilities.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book! Well written!, January 25, 2011
This is a must read for anyone running a business. The concepts are very well presented, the text very well written. The authors shared a lot of their own real world experience. Essentially, the book tells about the 4 cornerstones of finance:

1. The Core Value - in a nutshell this principle is about value creation; value is created for a company through a combination of Growth and Return on invested Capital (ROIC). Sometimes growth alone does not create value!

2. The Conservation of Value - this principle is simple, Value is created (through "activities"/"projects") only when the company generates higher cash flow! Simple, but makes a whole lot of sense.

3. The Expectations Treadmill -shareholders, especially for publicly listed companies, influence the value of a company based on the previous performance of the company. Because of this, sometimes reporting a very good result (say when results exceed expectations) if not managed properly can cause a company to decrease in value - because Shareholders expect a similar/even better returns the next year! Bottom line, it is important that companies be very careful in sharing revenue guidance, and if possible, not release any guidance at all.

4. The Best Owner - in a nutshell, this principle says that the value of a business is not absolute, but relative to who is running/managing the business, as strategies employed, access to markets, access to better operations, lower costs differ.

I highly recommend this book. This will definitely be one of those books I pull off the bookshelf every now and then.

4.0 out of 5 stars A must read, September 7, 2009
This book is a must read for every professional - anyone who wants to succeed in their careers. When you flip through the pages of the book, you might be discouraged at first to read the book because the images seem to be targeting children.

The book illustrates how one can logically solve a problem. The tools presented are very easy to understand and use. I highly recommend this book

4.0 out of 5 stars Practical, easy read..., August 23, 2008
I picked up this book before boarding a flight from Manila to Amsterdam. When I started reading it, I just couldn't put it down. It was so fascinating that I was done with it just a fourth of the way to Amsterdam!

Jeffrey J. Fox wrote a very interesting, easy read (conversational style) book. If I were to sum it up, it's all about proper behavior and disposition that an executive should take. From managing ones career, to interaction with customers and employees, dealing with office politics - this book has a lot of very good and practical advice for experienced executives and aspiring executives alike.

Examples are shared through stories, sometimes humorous but so true you'll catch yourself giggling from time to time reading all 75 tips on how to become (or should I say behave) like a CEO. You'll have a lot of fun and will definitely learn a lot by reading this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic, December 23, 2006
This is a must for Nikon 80 owners who are serious photographers. More than the extra juice you can carry by using 2 batteries, the comfort of switching between landscape and portrait justifies the investment. I got mine 3 weeks ago and I'm loving it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very well written! A lot of insight!, November 11, 2006
This was the first attempt to really study the history of Google. This book gave an excellent account of how Google evolved to how it is today. The author also shared some very interesting insights on how big things can really start with a wild, outrageous idea.

Highly recommended!

I've purchased this book a week ago. So far I've read until chapter four and have learned a lot already. Descriptions are clear and the authors presented a lot of implementation scenarios/samples.
