1.0 out of 5 stars Just Dangerous on an Airplane, December 2, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased these so I could sleep / turn head whilst wearing, for which they are great. Previous Bose NC headphones had a high-gain / low-gain setting which was accessible by removing the cable. These don't - which mean when the airline makes an announcement, they are deafening. I mean 'rip your headphones out of your ears by the cable like they just hit 1000 degrees and were burning your ear sockets deafening'

Seriously sickeningly loud. Great noise cancelling and simply brilliant with an iPad, notebook or ANYTHING OTHER THAN AN AIRLINE. PS - also great if they are unplugged from anything and just cancelling noise too!

If watching a house movie on a plane, the $2 headphones are the go.

1.0 out of 5 stars Environmentally Unfriendly Labels, November 7, 2014
Just a small thing, but the labels on this are nearly impossible to remove. Won't peel off, won't soak off in water or vinegar and requires a harsh chemical like white spirit to soak it off.

This is just poor and lazy branding which should be easy to fix

There is a touch-light on the phone end which lights up showing you where to insert into the phone but only when you touch the cable. Sensational!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't Work with Android, October 12, 2014
Don't get me wrong - Belkin have an Android App but this just wastes huge amounts of time TRYING to get it to work. You can see devices with an Android App, upgrade firmware and create rules, label devices etc...

It just fails on two small points - switching on when the rule says it should and then switching off when it is meant to.

When you configure with an iOS device
1) It works every time; and
2) You get way more configuration options (like having it come on 15 mins prior to / after sunset)

I would wait until they have the bugs ironed out

1.0 out of 5 stars Try something else, March 16, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This scale has great features and looks cool but it is just inaccurate. Why display a reading to one decimal place if it is out by a couple of kilograms.

Further - how can a scale show two different readings in two minutes???

Either a serious quality control problem or I got a dud. Probably too late to return it but I bought two (one for a mate) who is having similar hassles. Conversely the Tanita 500 I had previously (looked kludgy by comparison) could tell me whether I had pee'd or drunk a glass full of water.

I couldn't be sure but after having used it for a few months, I would swear it is a known problem which has had a 'bandaid' software patch to limit mis-readings by including an algorithm based on my past weight measurements. It would be interesting to get one in the lab and measure a bunch of objects around the 80kg range repeatedly (78kg, 85kg, 82kg). My guess is that they would all come up with the same reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Camera - Great for almost everything!, February 21, 2014
The Panasonic Lumix TZ40 is hands-down my best ever camera purchase. I can't for the life of me figure the reviews about Japanese menus, but figure Amazon may have purchased a bunch intended for the Japanese market that weren't defaulted to english language. Ignore all these reviews. I had to change language to Japanese on mine to see what they were talking about, and was able to change it back to English simply enough but had not considered the menuing to be problematic until I tried operating it in Japanese (easily fixed).

The zoom on this camera is nothing short of breath-taking. I am regularly having to rest both elbows to get stability but this is clearly a physics thing, not a limitation of the camera.

The camera is fast, works ok in low light (keeping in mind it's not an f/1.8) and the smarts are not overly intrusive. Panoramic is good (multi-directional, good guides etc...) and I without flash, I rarely bite into a second battery taking 400-600 shots.

For anyone looking to travel, or with kids - I reckon this is the camera. In fact - I would argue that >80% of the people lugging around a DSLR should shelve it and take a TZ40 with a spare battery or two.

And if you have never tried a compact super-zoom camera, then just order one. Don't bother researching or vascilating, just go and grab one. You will find your entire photography style changing when you can get good close-up photos from further away!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome product, July 23, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Well padded - fits a MacBook Air in perfectly or the Magnesium Toshiba Ultrabook.

Room for cables or in my case a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 and Kindle where each are separated and won't scratch each other.

Great protection and super light weight. I wish I had have purchased it before the small dent in the top cover of my MBA :)

Not big enough for the old MacBook Pro and haven't tried a Retina MBP yet but suspect it would be a little tight

Glad the started making this product again (couldn't get my hands on one for 12 months or so)

1.0 out of 5 stars Padding flakes after six months, can't get replacement, July 23, 2013
The headphones are good - maybe not the best - but solid noise cancelling functions and comfortable.

The padding material (ear piece and across the headband)are of a very poor quality and start flaking after about 6-12 months.

You can buy replacement ear piece padding but not the headband, which means you end up looking like you have terrible black dandruff as the vinyl headband padding gradually works it's way off onto your head.

Really poor effort not having a replacement for this component Bose!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Flimsy - inner screen cracked within a week, July 9, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This camera has a multi-layered display screen and the inner screen cracked. It had not been dropped, just got a big crack along the bottom corner which can be seen clearly under the outer layer of glass.

It doesn't seem to impact waterproofing but doesn't look great. Other features seem fine but for a camera that is meant to be ruggedised this is a fail.

I have previously had Panasonic rugged cameras which have been used mountain biking, run over by vehicles and dropped onto rocks without problem. This camera was for a tourist trip to NYC and Hawaii. Didn't stand up to the rough and tumble of a padded case in a padded backpack.

Get an Olympus or Panasonic if you are doing anything outdoors.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't bother, February 8, 2013
First of all, this product doesn't work with Chrome on a Mac. Apparently they didn't think enough people use Chrome to make it worthwhile. Secondly, it doesn't appear to work with Safari either (when you ring their support they get you to install Mozilla Firefox as their first step of the resolution).

When that doesn't work they ask if you have a PC, and then tell you to install Firefox on the PC because they have been having some problems with Internet Explorer and Silverlight.

After five minutes or so the support guy tells me that Logitech has recently upgraded their router and people are having problems installing / syncing from Mac computers since the upgrade. He is not able to tell me whether anyone has successfully synced their remote with a Mac since the router upgrade.

If you have absolutely any romantic notion about buying one of these puppies I suggest you read the forums - just type "can't sync my harmony touch" - in fact google get so many hits, for me it came up after I typed "har" without finishing the "mony touch" if that is any indication.

If you STILL think you want one of these remotes then remember it requires Silverlight - which in itself should have been a great warning sign. It is a buggy and flaky as I ever have seen and mine is going back tomorrow after spending three hours myself and another 45 minutes with an online support guy.

I have owned almost every harmony remote that has been made (505, 515, One, 900 etc...) and they have all been real easy to program. This sucker just won't sync. It times out, crashes and fails. The product is one giant epic fail by Logitech.

And you think they could tell people they have upgraded their router and it is not working with Macs at present. I guess the only saving grace is that the tech could not get mine working with a PC either... Fail Fail Fail
