4.0 out of 5 stars works OK but I had to add a base, February 27, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Works OK for my Syrian hamster. Just fits in the 12" length of the 12x16x24" wire cage, but the wire support flexes a lot and it wandered around on the floor of the cage eventually rubbing against it and causing noise. I ended up making a thin wood base that the wire part fits into, to locate the wheel centered in the cage; after that it is pretty quiet even though (as I discovered after making a magnetic-triggered turns counter) this hamster runs 5-10 miles each night.

4.0 out of 5 stars works OK but not perfect (rattle), February 27, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Works well in general. Daytime video quality is decent, but not as good as my 5-year-old 1080p camcorder. Night video is OK but not impressive. My unit had an internal rattle that made recorded audio irritating to listen to. I pried the outer case apart with a screwdriver, unscrewed the PCB and found a two-piece metal shield over the main chips (Novatek 96650 + RAM?) was loose and rattling. I fixed that with some superglue and re-assembled, it sounds OK now (for a dashcam). Don't take it apart unless you're comfortable with small parts and flex connectors. I put a few internal photos on my Google+ (Picasa) page under "KDLINKS X1 dashcam with Novatek 96650 processor". The small flat pouch-type internal battery is marked 3.7 V 110 mA. I only discovered dashcamtalk dot com after buying this one (they call this model good but overpriced).

5.0 out of 5 stars OK as replacement for Permacel P665, September 22, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Works as a replacement for the original "gold standard" Permacel P665 Gaffer's Tape, which is no longer made. Comparing this to my old roll of P665, the color (black) is the same, the fabric texture on Scapa 225 is a little more coarse / uneven than the P665. That makes 225 more of a matte black (slightly less shine). The adhesive side of the Scapa 225 is white in color, while P665 has a slightly yellow / straw color. The Scapa 225 peels off the roll much more easily than P665 (like masking tape), but adhesion to a finished wood floor is about the same between the two. Both tapes will peel up and re-stick many times. Tape thickness is the same on both (11.5 mils, 0.29 mm). Folding the tape against itself with 2 sticky sides together and pulling, the 225 adhesive will usually pull away in places from its fabric backing. That usually does not happen with P665 (of course my roll is pretty old, but the tape is still sticky.)

4.0 out of 5 stars Good value for fire/flood protection, but documents need secondary container, September 12, 2014
Worthwhile as a fire/flood safe and as casual theft deterrent. The sides are smooth and flat, and it is easy for even a small guy to slide it across the floor. The bolt-down feature takes care of that. I do not know, but suspect some effort with a sledgehammer could defeat this one (and any other "safe" at this price point). Fits 8.5x11" paper lying flat but legal size only wedged in at an angle. The manual, and a sticker on the safe itself, warns that documents should be placed in an "airtight dishwasher-safe container" before putting them in the safe. So is there a source for that kind of container for letter-sized paper? Also, you are supposed to leave it open for 20 minutes every two weeks.

5.0 out of 5 stars smooth rolling, August 7, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The bearing seems very smooth, but in my case low speeds and just a few kg, nothing like its rated 600 kg load capacity. I notice that the list price here has more than doubled in the two weeks since I ordered it, which is curious.

4.0 out of 5 stars good super-wide view, July 31, 2014

Works nicely with Raspberry Pi camera module to give a super-wide field of view. A bit blurry around the edges, but that is to be expected.

Just a comment on Amazon's current pricing scheme. At the moment you can buy one, or a 2- or 6-pack of units but strangely, the price for the bulk packages is more expensive than just getting 2 or 6 of the single item.

4.0 out of 5 stars good value in a small drill press, May 13, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The WEN 4210 drill press works nicely so far. At first I thought one of the four base mounting bolts was missing, but it was hiding inside the hollow crank handle for the work platform. I also thought the light bulb fixture didn't work, but it was just hard to screw in the bulb all the way (after that it does work). I used a 10 W LED bulb which gives a good amount of light: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H8M6V06

The laser cross pattern wasn't aligned, but that was easily adjusted. Spindle runout is under 0.001" but the shank of a drill bit showed about 4 mils runout, so maybe I need to get a better chuck than the stock one provided. (Later, I got a TM32KL keyless chuck www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004CVJC3E which works well). The diameter of the two holes in the base for mounting to a workbench is 13.0 mm so that is big enough to use a 1/2 inch bolt. The motor gets quite hot after running for a while, so I presume it is designed for only occasional use (not for a drum sander, etc).

There is a slight rattle noise which becomes quieter when actually drilling a hole.

There is a rotating lock collar which can be used either as a depth stop, or to fix the spindle at one particular depth. In the latter case it partially fixed in that only the retract spring holds it back against further extension. That is, unless it is set at full depth, in which case it can be truly locked.

4.0 out of 5 stars solid, rough, functional, April 17, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
It's a solid piece of metal, pretty rough around the edges. What I expected for about the cheapest vise available, but it does the job I expect it to. The maximum opening is just under 2-1/4" unless you remove the faceplates on each jaw. The thread was very stiff when opening more than half way; became a little better after adding oil and working it back and forth. The moving jaw has a few degrees of wobble and about 1 mm of in-out travel when not clamped down on something, which doesn't really matter for its intended purpose. The base on mine is roughly machined flat but is slightly warped, corner can rock up and down maybe 0.3 mm when not clamped.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not intended for Rockwell Bladerunner jigsaw, April 14, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I am giving it 3 stars because it can cut OK in a straight line, but I bought it based on the claim of "tight curves" and "cuts backwards". My test cuts were on 1/4 inch plywood. On my Rockwell "Bladerunner" table jigsaw, this blade will not turn very much, and it will not cut backwards. Instead it will heat up and scorch the wood and discolor the blade when attempting to turn or reverse. This is because the teeth on the rear side of the Spyder blade only extend partway down the blade from the tip, and with my jigsaw's stroke they never actually reach the wood. By contrast the Rockwell 6 TPI "scroll" blade included as stock with the Bladerunner can turn much more tightly, and leaves a clean and un-scorched cut. The Rockwell blade has teeth that protrude on either side of the blade which makes a wider kerf, allowing room to turn the blade. I will try to attach a photo to compare the blades and the results.

Also, the package I received matches Amazon's current product photo (Spyder 300011) but does not match the current product title (Spyder 300004).
