2.0 out of 5 stars Terrible packaging & no measurement labels, June 21, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I ordered this set and when it came, pieces were broken. I returned, reordered, and the new set was broken too. There was no bubble wrap in the packaging, so no surprise!

I didn't realize when I ordered that the cups and spoons were unlabeled -- not very useful for measuring ingredients for a recipe!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good., June 2, 2013
For a beginner:
If you are new to protein skimmers the first thing to know is that you generally want to divide the "gallons rated" value by half. So this 100 gallon skimmer will best work for tank up to about 60 gallons.
Also, this is an in-sump skimmer meaning that it needs to be in a separate aquarium to do its job. It cannot be placed outside on a surface and always needs to be submerged in water. There are 2 water lines on this skimmer... the min water line is just about where it says "reef octopus" in on the acrylic tube and the top water line being just under the large black band under the collection cup. To give you an idea, this means the skimmer should be in a water level between ~6.5-10" of water when operating.

It's pretty easy to put together and don't expect much instructions from the manufacturer. LIke most marine products you have to look on message boards often to find support. Once put together, there is a red dial to adjust the bubble level in the skimmer so it collects the ideal amount of waste. There is no set amount the dial should be turned, you must play around with it for a few days to figure it out. On normal operation you should have to empty the collection cup about once a week.

A couple of issues with this for me was the skimmer just didn't skim as well as I would have liked it to, after playing with it for months now I still think it could do a better job at removing the junk from the water. Also, I wish that it would be easier to disassemble for cleaning purposes because it can get quite clogged and it's a pain to clean.

Final advise: shop around when looking for saltwater tank products online. Amazon many times does not have the cheapest price and you can find this and many products elsewhere for 25-40% cheaper.

The Complete Book of Bonsai

2.0 out of 5 stars Pretty bad., May 25, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This books gets glamorous reviews so hey I figured being new to bonsai this would be a solid purchase. Wrong.
A good chunk of the book is dedicated to how the author found his inner spirit and why he fell in love with bonsai. Why do I have to read this? Why is this included? I'm not trying to read a memoir but instead tips on how I can keep my plant alive.
My biggest issue is the book spends too much time about the art and the different styles versus helping me understand how I can make sure the soil / roots don't rot etc.. It needs more trouble shooting tips to find out why my plant dies. What kind of diseases are out there, how I can prevent the diseases and how to deal with them easily. I don't want to read the authors 200k text about the wonders of this hobby... I just need straightforward answers.

2.0 out of 5 stars Ok. Why preservatives?, April 9, 2013
These cereals taste just like you'd expect them to. I read the ingredient label this morning tho and don't like that it contains BHT which is a preservative made from oil based compounds. BHT is also in jet fuelds and other industrial products... and this cereal. I refuse to buy goods with preservatives that do not need them. Why ruin an otherwise good cereal with these ingredients?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, February 22, 2013

This fits the 3500-3000 Champion generator we bought a few weeks ago. The cover fits really well so it is tight but you can still remove it easily. The bottom has a string so you can tighten the cover so no dust can get underneath.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointing Picture Quality, February 22, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book is very well written like all of Michael's other books. It is easy to understand and very well organized so you can easily find the information you are looking for about each fish. However, I found that many of the pictures for the fish are blurry looking like as if someone blew up a picture that is low quality to make it bigger and to fit the page. Now since one of the most important part of the book is picture identification (e.g. when you're at the store) I find it unacceptable to have pictures where you can see the pixels on the image. The publisher needs to do better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little pumpts, January 5, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I use this pump to get water thru an overflow system that would otherwise loose siphon during a power outage or any other stop in the flow.
The pumps last quite a while and if they stop working, generally letting them cycle clean water for about a day fixes the problem. Would recommend getting the cleaner filter to keep the pump lifetime longer.

This GFCI works very well and have not had any problems installing it. The instructions are very clear and offer a step by step manual to how to wire the GFCI in case you have never done one before. The actual unit is sturdy and seems to be well built. No complaints.

5.0 out of 5 stars So real, December 12, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought these to scare my family with. They look quite real and measure about 2 inches in length. They have a little shine just like in the picture but it's not too much to give it a plastic look. Recommended if you want to scare anyone with a cockroach phobia!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Product, December 12, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a good product that can make your aqualifter last a little longer by getting things out of the water that could harm the motor. Look into getting this somewhere besides Amazon because it shouldn't cost more than 3-4$ even at a pet store.
