Couleur Nature Malini Table Runner, 16-inches by 72-inches, Brown/Blue
Price: $22.07

3.0 out of 5 stars Naturally lovely, October 3, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This runner is a nice, thick cotton print with rich colors. I was a title hesitant to order it because I thought it might be too bluish, but as it turns out, it's really more of a dark chocolate brown background with more prominent pale olive green and cream. Love the way it looks in person!

It did shrink slightly with washing but maintained it's shape and was only mildly wrinkled out of the dryer, so it didn't require heavy duty ironing as some cotton does. Colt held as well.

This is definitely a nice quality, casual runner, though a bit too pricey in my opinion, which is the only reason I gave it three stars rather than five.

Spot it! Hip Card Game
Spot it! Hip Card Game
Price: $12.99

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun alternative to a regular deck of cards..., September 18, 2014
This review is from: Spot it! Hip Card Game (Toy)
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
The original Spot It game is cute and fun for even little ones. This Hip version is only really different in that the drawings on these cards are a bit more "grown up" with a more hip vibe that teens and up might find entertaining.

There are variations of the game, but they are all relatively simple & quick, matching up the like symbols such as high top sneakers, a mustache, video game controller, sushi, and of course, everyone's favorite food, bacon, just to name a few. Where some of the most fun comes in is hearing everyone shout out their matches, particularly when they are phrases like "bro" or "sup", and when they are funny sounding like "tightie whities".

It is still the simplest of games no matter how you play, but can be fast paced & fun with the right crowd. It's other big advantage is portability. In a little tin (about 4" round) it fits in a bag to take along to the restaurant and keep the family busy while waiting, easily goes camping or can be brought to a party for some quick ice breaking.

I do imagine it as an entertaining game mainly for young kids and teens, or adults who perhaps turn it into yet another drinking game. Otherwise, the average family will play it and find that it goes pretty fast and may loose its appeal pretty quickly.

OXO Good Grips Jar Spatula, White

5.0 out of 5 stars Does OXO stand for Hugs and Kisses? Because it should!, September 18, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I decided to order this long handled jar spatuala mainly because of my love for other OXO products I own. They just seem to know how to make things that are easy to handle, feel like just the right weight, and have superior function.

I'm glad I got it. While I suppose it is specifically meant for use in jars of mayonnaise, etc. to get every last bit of product out of the container, it is also excellent for cooking, stirring, and baking since it doubles as a spoon that will not not damage my cookware and can tolerate high temps of things like candies, melted chocolate, etc.

Nice gadget at a nice price. Impressed again by OXO.

3.0 out of 5 stars To kit it or not to kit it..., September 10, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This is a great item for those super organized types...but, the design has a bit of a potential flaw. The idea is to take the mini post it pad and flags and stick them inside a notebook or binder with the included sticky flap that folds over and holds them for handy use. That is a nice idea. What is not so great is the bulk they cause. Though the stickies are minimal, the entire setup is about a 1/2 inch in thickness. This might work in the front of a 3 ring binder but would not work in an ordinary paper notebook, at least not for types like me that would be bothered by the lump it creates.

The positives? The flags are terrific for holding or marking pages, and the little post-it's could be used to make notes (in very small writing since it's a little square -not your typical post-it size). The unit says it's refillable, so you can replace what you use up instead of the increased waste of purchasing another entire kit.

Bottom line: an okay buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars School's definitely IN for this planner!, August 24, 2014

Love this planner!

It has a month at a view section, then daily for day by day planning, so both are easy to see at a glance.

Vinyl cover is a nice, protective touch to last throughout the year, even getting carried around in my bag.

Size is perfect for throwing any typical 8.5x11 papers into for protection. Yet, it is lightweight and flexible, too.

Great way to organize my school year as a Paraeducator. School's not just for kids, you know!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great beach days on the cheap!, August 24, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
These sarongs are a nice size, great material and held up pretty well to washing even in the washing machine.

My twenty-someting daughter and I were preparing for a beach vacation and wanted something quick to use for a cover up, to dress up an outfit or use as a shawl and these were perfect for everything we could come up with.

Plus, they were only about five dollars a piece (since you get three colors in every order!) so we got two packages, ending up with six colors to choose from. Super bargain without looking like a bargain, since they were well made, of a nice, more substantial, slightly shimmery gauze-like material.

Terrific buy!

3.0 out of 5 stars What a Life!?, August 24, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I have been playing various versions of Life for my whole, well, life! It has gradually strayed from my first 70s version as a kid. In some ways the updates are great, but overall, not so much. For families that have never played it, it will be perfectly entertaining, but for those who are wishing for the old school game of their childhood, it is not really here anymore. I'd recommend it to young families more than a reminiscent crowd, for sure.

Pros & Cons:

No need for one person to volunteer to be the banker.
But,
the convenience of a hand held banking device means no more messy piles of money...but also means no more counting up your pile of cash, having any idea how anyone else is doing, or doing any real paper/personal transactions. Of course, that is probably closer to banking in today's "real life", but it takes away something when you are simply pressing buttons each time it's your turn, then handing the banking reader to the next person. Make a mistake on loading info and it follows you throughout the game.

About half way through game play, the opportunity to go to night school and change careers arises. It's a nice touch, offering a new opportunity if you feel your original choice did not work out...and of course a life lesson that it is never too late to make a change of direction.
But,
When I was a kid, the very first important decision was "career vs. college" and there were distinct reasons for choosing one or the other based on your strategy of getting to the end faster (and getting a bonus that no longer exists in this version) or getting a better paying job due to your college degree and collecting higher paychecks (another difference, since there are non-college occupations that pay nearly the same as the degreed ones).

Game play goes fairly quickly, but not too fast. There are rarely big losers or winners and it's a bit more evenly played with close game results which younger ones might appreciate. Right up to the end, there is no telling who will come out on top.
But,
There is very little strategy in this version. The choices you are able to make have very little effect on your end total. Most of the spins and spaces lead to random pluses and minuses (much like the old version) but really feels much more like a luck of the draw overall, rather than anything you strategized. Still fun, but for older kids/adults, there is no way to "try" to come out on top.

No more little Life cards/tiles to keep track of and the Life activities are more varied and pretty funny. They are entertaining, probably even more so to younger minds.
But,
They added a bit of a silly twist that is only going to appeal to a younger (or drunk) audience, like "do a competitive drum solo on the table", "give everyone at the table a compliment", "tell a joke and if they laugh you win". We skipped the "do it" portion of the action and went with the basic instruction only when playing with older kids & adults since nobody was willing to dance, sing, etc. like a younger group might enjoy.

In an ideal toy world, I suppose I would have two versions (like Monopoly and Junior Monopoly) where there is a Life game that involves some life choices that can be strategized for older players, and a Life game that is simply "spin til you win" like this one, for younger players to compete with luck.

Remington Products R3 Power Series Rotary Shaver
Remington Products R3 Power Series Rotary Shaver
Price: $29.97
6 used & new from $28.25

4.0 out of 5 stars Sleek cheeks!, August 14, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Nicely priced shave!

My husband has used multiple rotary razors and has become the guy who thinks you have to pay big money to get a good, accurate shave. He was incredibly impressed by the general quality, hand feel, and close cutting. The pop up trimmer is a good size and works great.

His only complaints were:

The inner plastic housing looks a bit flimsy and it's hard to be sure about the longevity potential.

The blades are recessed and he says this leads to a sensation of not being exactly sure where the shaver is cutting. However, when done, it did a nice job.

Great value for sure. Even if you have to replace it a bit more frequently, it's probably worth it to avoid having to pay nearly 300- in some cases for one of the newest & fanciest brands.

Acme Made Skinny Cover for iPad Air, Matte Black (AM36719-PWW)
Acme Made Skinny Cover for iPad Air, Matte Black (AM36719-PWW)
Price: $37.77

4.0 out of 5 stars Slim style goes the mile..., August 14, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Traded my worn thick leather cover for this one and I'm so glad I did. I thought I would want a heavy cover for protection, but honestly, I have never dropped my iPad and the added weight seemed counterintuitive to having the lightweight Air version.

This Acme skinny cover is truly skinny, yet covers nicely, shuts off the device when closed and fits much more easily into my foam iPad zip pouch for travel.

The outer cover is easily wiped clean, and the inner fleece, by swiping the screen when closed, makes for a virtually clean screen when I open it up. No more carrying around a cloth and constantly wiping off fingerprints, etc.

It's easier folding back for taking photos, and the flip stand stays put. The sleek case is easier to hold upright, too.

Why four, not five stars? I miss the stylus holder that I had on my other case. I realize that might ruin the sleek profile, but it's such a nice feature being able to slip the stylus in/on the case so it's always handy. Also, while it is well made, it's still a bit pricey.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get a Boost from the Garden, July 18, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
If you are looking for a reputable organic company with a quality product, this is it. Adding Kind's vitamin B12 spray to my short list of supplements was well worth it. I cannot obviously say that you will have the same result, but I have found that a quick spray under the tongue at my 3pm slump part of the day has really helped me maintain energy, when I used to struggle for a nap, or a snack to perk me up.

This is a certified whole food supplement made up of a blend of organic fruits & vegetables (beets, carrots, apple, berries, garlic, and much more- a nice wide variety of colors and the benefits each of those provides) . It has a fruity, pleasant taste that does not linger. Also, nothing artificial added, so it is just a simple naturally sourced vitamin boost- Vegan too, if you are concerned with that.

Though it does not state it specifically, I use it sub lingually, thinking that perhaps it will enter my bloodstream more quickly and/or effectively. I do notice a nice, steady energy and sense of well being after using it. Don't expect a sudden burst, or caffeine like jolt, just a pleasant uplift. Easy to slip into a purse, backpack, or desk to have handy when you feel sluggish. Reasonably priced, too.

Definitely recommended.
