4.0 out of 5 stars Good gaming mouse, but really best for very small hands, March 6, 2016
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I like the design of this mouse. It's very attractive with the RGB lighting. The mouse looks and feels like a quality, well-constructed component--more on that below. It works as advertised. The removal side-panels held by magnets is a nice feature, as is the height adjustment on the heel plate.

There are two significant drawbacks to this mouse, in my opinion.

The first is that you really need really small hands for this mouse. My hands are not particularly large, but this mouse is so tiny, it feels like it was made for a ten-year-old. You pretty much have to use a claw grip--it's just too small for even a modified palm grip.

The second issue is the side buttons. They feel flimsy and depress far too easily. I like the audible "click," but it's just far too easy to push them when you don't mean to.

Also, the absence of a dedicated "sniper" button is noted. Sure, you can assign "sniper" to one of the side buttons in the software, but they are really too high on the mouse for it to feel the same.

It's a pretty mouse. I'm learning to live with it...but the size is almost a deal-breaker. It's just so small.

This is a decent gaming mouse but not perfect. The ergonomics are good--the main physical flaw on the mouse is the scroll wheel, which is stiff and has no side-tilting abilities. The software hangs frequently on my Windows 7 system--I would like to see a more stable version of the software.

The ergonomics are great--if the scroll wheel were better and the software didn't crash, this would be a five-star mouse.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Headset, October 29, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
These are some of the very best gaming headsets you can buy...IF you have some knowledge about your sound card and setting up speakers. I think there is a tendency to think of headsets as something very plug-and-play, you plug it in and it just works...but if you approach the Tiamat 7.1 in that fashion, you will never understand what you have and you will very likely hate it because you don't know how to use it.

You MUST have a 7.1 sound card to take full advantage of this headset. If you have onboard 7.1 audio, you may or may not be able to get these working correctly. I STRONGLY recommend you get a decent 7.1 sound card.

As far as your sound card is concerned, these are not a headset or headphones...this is a full 7.1 speaker system, and understanding that is absolutely the key to setting them up and getting them working correctly. The computer doesn't know and doesn't care that all the speakers are attached to your head. <smile> In games, if headset is an option, don't select it; select 7.1 speakers or surround speakers.

Things to check when installing: the color bands on the plugs can be hard to distinguish, a flashlight is recommended. Make sure you get all cables plugged in including the USB cable that powers the headset. On the sound card, make sure full 7.1 is enabled and no channels are muted. Make sure the volume is up on each channel and start with them set to the same volume. Turn on bass redirection--if you don't do this, you are not going to hear much through the subwoofer, so it's important. Set the crossover frequency to 80 Hz. Do a channel test on each channel and you should hear each clearly and distinctly through the headset. The colors are very close on the mic plug and the center / subwoofer channel plug--if you still aren't hearing anything on the center or subwoofer, try swapping these plugs and try again.

When set up correctly, these are very nice headsets. They have plenty of bass--pretty much more than I can stand if you turn it all the way up. They have good volume and a very clean sound. Though great for listening to music, in games is where they truly shine. This is true 7.1 surround sound, and you can clearly hear the positional audio effects. Sounds behind you sound like they are behind you. If you find a continuous sound source in the game, you can turn around and hear the sound move around you.

I also have a virtual 7.1 headset. While positional audio works on both, the Tiamat 7.1 is superior. You simply can't get better than the real thing.

Sound quality is quite good through the headset when it is set up correctly. Good clean bass response, good midrange, and decent highs. If you are going to be listening to music, spend some time with your equalizer to optimize the sound like you like it--it will be time well spent.

In summary, these aren't the easiest headsets to set up, but if you are willing to put the time in to learn what you are doing, AND you have a high-end 7.1 sound card to drive it, the Tiamat 7.1 is one of the very best gaming headsets on the market.

5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive plastic recorder--not a toy, May 30, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Background: I studied recorder and Baroque flute in college, in addition to the "normal" (metal) Boehm-system flute. I have a beautiful pallisander alto after Terton that I bought while in college, but it is getting old now as that was thirty years ago, and I don't want to shorten its life by using it for daily practice.

After doing some research the general consensus seems to be that this Aulos alto patterned after instruments by maker Richard Haka (1645-1705) is about the best serious plastic instrument currently available. I was a bit skeptical--any musician who has ever encountered the ubiquitous cheap plastic grade-school recorder can tell you that "plastic" and "recorder" just don't belong in the same sentence--but I was pleasantly surprised.

This instrument has a curved and narrowing windway with chamfering on the block and facing edge. It has resistance and a surprisingly well-focused sound, very edgy, and the sound can be driven into buzzy without breaking up. Intonation and response are good. The upper register is a bit touchy and requires a little more open thumb technique than I'm used to but it's not hard to adjust to.

Does it sound as good as my old pallisander alto? No--the wooden instrument is louder, has a tighter voicing with yet more resistance, it is capable of more projection, especially on the lowest notes, and the upper register is sweeter and easier to hit. The Aulos isn't quite as forgiving on the highest notes and requires very precise thumb control.

But it is still very very good. Unlike the cheap plastic recorders that so often give the recorder a bad name, this is a real musical instrument. It will play well if you can play it well.

It has two enormous advantages: price and durability. Good hardwood alto recorders often carry four-digit pricetags, and can only be played for about an hour a day without risking damage to the instrument. They require playing in, and oiling, and must be carefully maintained.

This is a real performance-ready instrument that costs less than one hundred dollars, requires little care, and can be played for hours a day if you wish without any initial "playing-in" time and without any risk to the instrument. This would be ideal to learn on and would be a great instrument for a serious student who isn't ready for the financial commitment of a hardwood instrument.

The only thing I really can't recommend it for is ensemble or consort playing--at least, past a certain level of ability. The nature of its tone is such that it is well suited for cutting through and playing solo literature, but it's not a tone that would necessarily blend well with other recorders.

I am very pleased with this purchase. I would highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great bidet, even though the install can be tricky in small bathrooms, May 23, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
First, the install. I have installed two of these now, and where the toilet is located and how much room there is to work around it makes all the difference between an easy fifteen minute install and a very uncomfortable couple of hours. Especially if your toilet is in a small bathroom or a corner alcove, clean your toilet first--it will make the install more pleasant. You should really clean the toilet before install anyway.

Use caution when attaching the "T adapter" to the base of the toilet bowl--if you are installing by feel, it's very easy to accidentally loosen the bolt that holds the fill valve in place, which can cause a major leak. This is easy to do because the direction that tightens the adapter fitting is the same direction that you would turn the bolt on the fill valve to loosen it.

Reviewing the product itself, it works dependably and well. The self-cleaning feature on the nozzles is valuable, and I also appreciate that the nozzles are covered by a plastic shield when not in use to keep them sanitary. The whole unit is easy to clean.

As far as its use, I am very pleased. Do be a little gentle with the water pressure until you become accustomed to using it, as it is capable of delivering quite a blast of water if you have good water pressure.

I am very pleased with this unit and would recommend it. You get a lot of value for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works surprisingly well--does a better job of capturing a warm, May 23, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Bought for doing "quick -n- dirty" recordings of flute. Works surprisingly well--does a better job of capturing a warm, realistic sound than a $200 microphone that I bought used and doesn't require a separate "phantom power" source. Both surprised and very pleased, at the price you simply can't go wrong.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really nice speakers, May 19, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
These are outstanding speakers--multiple inputs, both analog and digital, with a clean, powerful, balanced sound. If you compare them against "computer speakers," they seem quite expensive, but no computer speaker is going to deliver this clean, balanced sound. On the digital side, these can decode both 5.1 DTS and Dolby.

The bass is powerful without being overpowering--although you can adjust it to be overpowering if you prefer that. In spite of their size, the heavy satellite speakers produce not only very clean high frequency response, but also clear midrange, which speakers this size usually cannot do.

Digital output especially is warm and clear.

I recommend "playing them in" with moderate volume for several days before really pushing them on the volume. This is good practice with any new speaker system.

5.0 out of 5 stars Useful flute swab, May 19, 2015

It does what it is supposed to--quickly and easily dries the bore of your flute or other small woodwind.

This is especially useful on wooden instruments as it easily and very thoroughly removes condensation that could lead to a crack in the instrument.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice inexpensive watch, May 19, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Nice watch--price is excellent. I love the bit of steampunk feel that it has.

The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that there is insufficient contrast between the hands and the background metal to allow you to read the time at a glance.
