5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic movie, February 6, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a really good movie. It combines live-action story-telling with animation, to tell the story of the album. See this film in its intended state, it's better that way.

3.0 out of 5 stars Selection could have been better, November 26, 2013
I have been a devoted Kubrick fan for many years, and I almost bought this package, then I realized something was missing. "A Clockwork Orange". I have seen all of these, and Eyes Wide Shut is a good film, but I don't believe it ranks with his other great works. If this included "Clockwork" instead "Eyes", I would own it now, I don't know how they decided to put these four together, but I just think the selection could have been better.

3.0 out of 5 stars An above average movie., June 10, 2013
This review is from: A Good Day to Die Hard (DVD)
Bruce Willis is back and is trying to connect with his estranged son. His son is in Russia, and is not there on vacation. The two end up teaming together on the mission that he is participating in. This one combines action and humor just like the others in the series, and the formula succeeds once again, though to a lesser extent. The story takes an unexpected turn that keeps the film interesting. This may be the weakest entry yet in the series, but it is still a good time at the movies

4.0 out of 5 stars Overlooked and underrated movie., June 10, 2013
A young man encounters a monk who gives him some beans purported to be magical. Upon one of them sprouting, he follows a beanstalk to rescue a beautiful princess from a land of giants. This was a really entertaining and fun film that caters to adults and the PG-13 set, rather than young children. The giants are menacing and ugly, the personalities of them are unique and visuals of them are terrific. The princess is someone that any man would risk his life to save and the action is non-stop. This film was quite a bit of fun.

3.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining., June 10, 2013
In this prequel to the TWOO, a young magician from Kansas finds himself transported to Oz, and is mistaken for the great wizard they have been waiting for. He befriends a flying monkey dressed as a bellboy (don't ask) and a porcelain doll. These characters are quite funny and cute, and are good assets to the film. The three witch sisters he meets, two good, one bad (You'll know which one is bad) are portrayed by excellent actresses. Overall the movie is cute, but not too cute, and has some light moments. This is one the kids will definitely enjoy, and parents will be entertained.

4.0 out of 5 stars Stick with it, it's good., June 10, 2013
This review is from: Stoker (DVD)
A young woman has just lost her father in an accident and her uncle, the father's brother, shows up at their home. He wants to be close to her, but she keeps him at a distance. His creepiness begins to grow on her, and the film takes a startling turn. This is a movie that you may be unsure where it is going, but once it gets there, it is quite eerie. This is a difficult film to review without revealing spoilers, so let's just say that if stick with this one, and see how it unfolds, it is well worth the time invested.

3.0 out of 5 stars Excitement abounds., June 10, 2013
This review is from: The Call (DVD)
A 911 operator receives a call from a young woman who, in part due to the operator's mistake, is abducted and murdered. Later, a similar call is received and the operator finds herself trying to save another teenage girl. Will the result be the same? This tense thriller features two very talented actresses and does not let up on the action. Is this a realistic portrayal of what the pursuit of an abductor may be? It is to a point, possibly, until the film's conclusion. Regardless, this action thriller provides enough tension throughout to keep any viewer engrossed.

2.0 out of 5 stars I want to like this, but..., June 10, 2013
This review is from: Quartet (DVD)
At a home for retired singers and musicians, and group of friends are preparing for a show. A new woman arrives, and this provides some tension for one of the men at the home. The new arrival is invited to join them in the show. Filled with veterans of stage and screen, this film caters to an older audience, who may appreciate the music and the story of these elderly people who are living in a retirement home. Young people may not like it so much, as the operatic music and the storyline are not necessarily that appealing to the gen-x and younger demographic.
