3.0 out of 5 stars Great Knife, Terrible Quality Control, August 15, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Like all Shun knives, this is truly a piece of art and a pleasure to work with. It holds an edge exceptionally well and has peerless balance. The 6" size is perfect for 90% of prep tasks. I get much less hand fatigue when performing large amounts of prep with this knife versus the more traditional 8" model. So why 3 stars? This knife, like every piece of the Premier series I've purchased, seems to have very poor quality control. The first two I received had multiple defects including chips in the blade (both), marks in the finish (both) and a cracked handle (just one). The third was acceptable, but was still imperfect (small nick in the handle). Unacceptable for a product in this price category. This is the last Shun Premier series I will buy. In the future I'm sticking to the Classic series.

5.0 out of 5 stars 8 Month Old Loves It, August 26, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My son is usually fascinated by new toys for about 10 minutes. They then get the old heave-ho and are recycled for use a few weeks later when he usually gets another 10 minutes out of them. Not this one. He has consistently been amused by this for hours at a time for weeks. He'll stare at the blinking lights and press the music button over and over. He also like to chew on the handle. A bonus for us is that unlike most musical kid's toys, the sound emanating from the Take Along Tunes is not headache inducing. A great product. My only criticism would be that the sound wheel should be made of plastic instead of cardboard as it has not worn very well.

2.0 out of 5 stars You Get What You Pay For, August 26, 2010
These are from Nason's Lounge series which is a less expensive alternative to his signature collection. They are made in China (as opposed to Italy). I purchased them mostly because of the man-made sole. All of the signature Nasons I own have a leather/wood sole that makes them pretty much useless in the rain. They look great with jeans but these boots are made like complete garbage. After three wearings, they are already showing significant wear. Many of the studs have already fallen off, leaving the boots with several tiny holes in their place. The finish on the boots has begun to rub off. Do not wear these with lighter colored pants- I have black marks on the cuffs of the lighter jeans I wore these with recently. Lastly, the padded foot bed has begun to tear away from the inside of the boot. Overall, I would say stick to Nason's signature line and skip the Lounge series altogether.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Toy for Toddler, August 19, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
These cups are on the smallish side and I wish they were a little more brightly colored. That being said, my eight month old adores them. He will play with them non-stop in the bath, on the floor and in his crib. Since he is the end consumer, I will put aside my minor quibbles and rate them as he would. Five stars all the way!

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Amazon Packing Job Ever, August 18, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Tub arrived absolutely filthy, cracked and with many scratches. It looks like it was tipped upside down and kicked around a warehouse floor. Amazon generally packages items very well. This job was atrocious. The tub was put unwrapped, unboxed into a mammoth cardboard Amazon box. By the time it made it to my home, it was rendered totally unusable. I don't know if this tub was trashed before or during shipping but now I've got to deal with returning this beast.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too Small & Too Cheap, August 5, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Ordered these as they appeared to be the best option other than the "over the window" versions (which do not allow a complete window seal causing annoying wind noise). First, they are very easy to install. However, that's pretty much where the positives end. They are very small and only cover about about 50% of the rear side windows of my mid-size sedan. I can't imagine these would cover more than a third of a large minivan or SUV window. After a few days use, the corners have curled up all the way back to the suction cups. This lends them to an appearance even cheaper than when new. Lastly, they have fallen off several times in the span of only a couple of weeks. They will not be going back on after the next time. Looks like it's back to the old "over the window" shades.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific portable stroller, July 20, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
We needed a light-weight, collapsible stroller that would still be comfortable for our 7 month old on a road trip vacation. We ordered this based on the reviews. I can happily say that we are totally satisfied. Nothing available at our local Babies R Us comes close to this regardless of price. There are a few minor flaws though.
Pros-
1- Comfortable. Our little guy is very happy in the "Ignite" and seems to be genuinely comfy.
2- Safe. The five point harness keeps him in no matter how hard he squirms. The stroller overall is also reasonably well-built and we have no concerns about it's structural integrity. The fact that it's rated to 50lbs speaks to that fact.
3- Height. Of all the umbrella type folding strollers we tested, this is the only one that requires no scrunching down for Mom (5'9") and Dad (6').
4- Good Value. We were willing to spend more for a portable stroller but this more than met our expectations at a very reasonable price.

Cons-
1- Not that portable. Because of the more substantial nature of this stroller, it's not nearly as compact when folded as most umbrella strollers. When folded, it's probably close to a full foot longer than some others we looked at. That being said, the increase in comfort and stability for our little one coupled with the ease of use for us more than makes up for it.
2- Storage accessibility. The main storage area under the seat of the stroller is blocked by it's X folding frame. This makes it a little difficult to put anything substantial in it.

Overall, this is a great little stroller that is miles ahead of other umbrella strollers available at its price.

1.0 out of 5 stars Another cancelled order..., July 17, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: National Geographic (Magazine)
As others have stated, probably not a great idea to order Nat Geo through Amazon. I placed my order in June and received a cancellation e-mail from them today. If Amazon can't fill the subscriptions at this price, they shouldn't be offering it. Great magazine, just don't order it here.

3.0 out of 5 stars Grinds well- but be prepared for a mess each morning, July 17, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This product is attractive, well-built (I suspect it will function properly for years), relatively quiet and produces a wide range of grinds. That being said, I'm sending it back. The design of the ground bean container is atrocious. It is literally impossible to remove it without spilling grounds all over your counter top. The instructions claim that a few taps to side of the machine will rectify this (it's apparently due to a built-up static charge). You can tap, knock, hit and slam away and you are still going to end up with grinds everywhere. On top of that, additional grinds remain coating the sides of the container after you've emptied it into your coffee maker. This results in you having to clean it every time it's used. Additionally, between the grinds that spill out and those left behind, there is quite a bit of wasted grinds after each use. Good beans are expensive- I don't like to waste them. Overall, a good product marred by a very annoying design flaw.

4.0 out of 5 stars They work, just don't expect a miracle, June 25, 2010
I had tried Whitestrips when they were first introduced about 8 years ago. They were slimy, hard to put on and did not stay on. They were somewhat effective but not nearly as strong as an in-office dentist treatment. This product improves upon the originals in several ways but still does not compare to a true professional treatment.

Pros-
1) Easy to put on (once you get the pouch open!)
2) These actually stay on as opposed to the originals that constantly slid off
3) Relatively non-invasive and non-slimy while on
4) Produce noticeable, although not dramatic results
5) Relatively inexpensive at about $35 for 20 sets of strips

Cons-
Really the only one is that they just don't work as well as advertised. Granted, as I said they do work. However, if you've ever had any type of professional whitening treatment you know that there are more powerful options out there. That being said, they come at a price tag far above the Whitestrips cost of $35.
