Find Happiness Now: 50 Shortcuts for Bringing More Love, Balance, and Joy into Your Life
Find Happiness Now: 50 Shortcuts for Bringing More Love, Balance, and Joy into Your Life
Price: $9.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Jonathan Robinson's newest book leads you on the path to FIND HAPPINESS NOW, April 18, 2014
Just as we are all created differently, what is happiness is one person isn't necessarily going to bring happiness for another.

In his newest book FIND HAPPINESS NOW author Jonathan Robinson shares what he calls the "Greatest Hits of Happiness Ideas" with readers, and allow us to use the book to start wherever we are in finding what truly brings us happiness today.

Because of his own personal journey Robinson is more than aware that people are unhappy for various reasons. What he tries to do in the book is help us to use the book as a guide to address whatever our own issues might be, and start at that point in making life better one day at a time. The entire book is a wealth of information, but you don't have to read the whole thing at first. Look at the segments discussed and choose what is the right place for you to start. For more the sections LOVING YOURSELF and LIVING YOUR DREAMS spoke the loudest to me, but after reading those two I went back to the beginning to see what I might be able to benefit from in the other segments.

The big takeaway for me in FIND HAPPINESS NOW is the importance of not defining happiness by what we have and instead focus on who we are, what really brings us peace. This means that we don't allow the many external forces to dictate what happiness looks like for you. The right foundation is to find out what is truly meaningful for you and go for it.

Even if the voice in your head is harping on what you can do, make the decision to change the channel to something that encourages you instead of discourages you. It can be done, and thanks to resources like Jonathan Robinson's FIND HAPPINESS NOW we are able to do it.

Missing Class: Strengthening Social Movement Groups by Seeing Class Cultures

5.0 out of 5 stars Betsy Leondar-Wright's MISSING CLASS examines how you can truly tackle the issues of the world from the inside out, April 18, 2014
I have to say that when I first heard of Betsey Leondar-Wright's book MISSING CLASS I wasn't sure what to expect.

I believe that part of my apprehension was because of the way the word "class" is thrown around these days. In fact one of the most popular definitions of Class online is "the system of ordering a society in which people are divided into sets based on perceived social or economic status." This might sound a whole lot more harsh than it is, and that is exactly what Betsy addresses in MISSING CLASS.

When it comes to looking at issues that matter in the world the way we choose to go about it has a great deal to do with where we are coming from in the world based on our ideas, upbringing and experiences. For Betsy she wanted to know how it was that individuals who seem to have a common interest when it came to addressing a problem was still so splintered in their approach.

She shows in the book that those who have a certain shared experience or more prone to look at situations differently than those who don't have the same experiences. Because of this she was able to show that by reaching people where they are---based on who they are---more was able to be accomplished.

The great thing about Betsy's book once I read it was that it is something that can be applied in all areas of our lives. Everyone who comes from Mississippi are not racist, just as all people who come from New York are not rude. When we dig deeper into who people really are we are better able to address together the problems we are looking to fix---and experience more success in doing so.

Written in such a way that even a layperson could understand, MISSING CLASS examines how you can truly tackle issues of the world from the inside out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jill Hardie's THE SPARKLE EGG Shows how you can really share the message of Easter, April 18, 2014
This review is from: The Sparkle Egg (Hardcover)
I think we can all agree that we have done something that made us feel bad or at least unworthy of love and forgiveness.

It's something that as humans we wrestle with all the time, no matter what our age. The great thing for individuals of faith, however, is that we don't have to feel as though all is lost. Christ Jesus came to this earth, suffered and died for our sins---and then rose so that we could have a mediator to God for forgiveness. Because of this, regardless of what we might have done, if we are truly sorry and repentant, there is no need to think forgiveness can't be ours.

In THE SPARKLE EGG we are able to meet Sam, a boy that told a lie to keep his parents from being upset with him, but felt that even after the truth came out he wasn't truly forgiven. Through a talk with his father and his mother's urging to share his transgression through The Sparkle Egg Sam was reminded of the true meaning of Easter.

At a time when the commercial aspect seems to overshadow all holidays that are celebrated by people of faith, author Jill Hardie has once again shown how you can have your fun and enjoyment but keep at the forefront what we are truly recognizing.

Definitely a book that individuals of all ages will appreciate, THE SPARKLE EGG shows how you can really share the message of Easter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Author Robert Stava shows the reader that even the most festive event can be terrifying, April 18, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I always appreciate reading a book that takes you into the lives of the characters, peeling back the superficial skin of who they appear to be and allows you into the darkness that lies underneath. That is EXACTLY what author Rober Stava has done in THE FEAST OF SAINT ANNE, and he does it in such a way that it intrigues the reader and pulls them in page by page.

Welcoming us to Wyvern Falls, Stava introduces us to 4 stories and a host of characters that are sure to have you discussing them with others. Each has their own layers that will not just engage you but give you just a bit of a chill. I love it when you are able to feel the action just by the way the author chooses their words---and Stava had definitely been deliberate in that regard.

In the end you come away with a volume that is sure to have you talking and wanting to experience more.

Giving you fully realized characters and storylines, THE FEAST OF SAINT ANNE shows the reader that even the most festive event can be the most terrifying.

Fates' Thread: A Memory of Jesus
Fates' Thread: A Memory of Jesus
by Judith Iglehart
Edition: Perfect Paperback
Price: $11.89

5.0 out of 5 stars Judith Iglehart's FATES' THREAD is sure to cause fascination, conversation with readers, April 17, 2014
As a person of faith and a believer in God's Son Jesus Christ, I think the understanding of what life was life for him on the earth outside of what the 4 Gospels reveal is something that we can just speculate about. For individuals like Judith Iglehart who also wondered about the appeal of Jesus and the relationships he formed during his time on earth it makes for a great story, and that is exactly what she has given us in her book FATES' THREAD.

Some that I have talked with about the book take issue with anything that makes Jesus seem too human---but he WAS human during those thirty-plus years while on the earth, and what Judith allows us to see is how he could so understand the tests and trials that we face today---because he was confronted with the same.

Through the character Julia we are able to see how an outsider viewed him not just as a gentle yet powerful man but an individual intent on fulfilling his Father's calling for him. I enjoyed this novel and the way it allow us to see the way that Jesus described the resistance to his message and why he was such a threat to individuals---including those of Julia's own family.

Through the Jesus that Judith portrays we are able to see a man who for three years was with a woman who he knew could not be his. She had introduced him to the gift of books, and through their time together he had been introduced to a world so different from his own.

In the end FATES' THREAD reminds us of all that Jesus did for mankind, and how his love for us as a whole and the pleasing of his Heavenly Father was tested time and again---and he was able to pass each test all the way to victory.

Beautifully delivered and exciting to read, FATES' THREAD is sure to cause fascination and mixed conversation with readers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tasc creates a shirt that is durable and made to last, even if it's not priced for everyone., April 16, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
For a t-shirt that has a variety of uses, this one by tasc is definitely a great fit and comfortable to just hang out in or even go for a job in. I ordered one for myself after receiving this one from Vine, and the only thing I can say that is a bit of an issue is the price. Can't afford too many of these at one time, but I will say that it is a shirt that even after a couple of washes keeps its shape and seems to be durable.

Tasc knows quality and thinks about the needs of a guy throughout the day, and it comes across with this tee.

5.0 out of 5 stars Carl Deuker's SWAGGER showcases what it truly means to be a winner, April 16, 2014
This review is from: Swagger (Hardcover)
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Sometimes the truth is the hardest thing we will ever deal with, and when it comes to us we have a choice as to what we will do with it.

In Carl Deuker's book SWAGGER we are introduced to two young men: Jonas and Levi. Both of them have a gift, but it needs some nurturing and attention. That is the role that Jonas saw Coach Hartwell playing in his life, but things weren't always as they appear.

This is the first book that I have read of Deuker's, and he has definitely written a story that will not only inspire you but remind you of the darkness that lurks in the world. The choice we have is to not allow the darkness to take away the light that we have inside. For Jonas he had to be able to look ahead and think about the gift that he was instead of allowing someone else to take that away. He also realized what it meant to be a friend, and how by doing so he could show others what it meant to be loyal and true.

Definitely a book that sports lovers and those who are just looking for a great story will enjoy, Carl Deuker's SWAGGER showcases what it means to be a winner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Author Nina Foxx's CATFISH shows how easy it is to be caught up in life's drama, April 15, 2014

This review is from: Catfish (Kindle Edition)
In this day and age it is easy to see how our decisions and actions can be played out for the world to see, regardless how careful we think we are.

In author Nina Foxx's newest book, CATFISH, she is able to show how even those who think they know us the best can be surprised when the truth comes out.

We meet Dana and Damika, two girls that appear to be close and the best of friends---but are they truly sharing their true selves with one another? Because Foxx gives us the book in first-person we are able to take the journey with both young women as they experience life, love and secrets in the age of social media and high-tech betrayal. Will they be able to maintain their friendship when the truth is revealed, or will they secrets they both share destroy what they have built.

Though a younger audience might really appreciate this read I believe it is great for readers of all ages to remember what is really important. As the characters are reminded "What is done in the dark..." always has a way of coming to the light---and sometimes in ways we least expected.

Entertaining and thoughtful, author Nina Foxx's CATFISH shows how easy it is to be caught up in the drama of life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Andre Johnson's MAN WITH THREE FACES shows we have to release control in order to find peace, April 14, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
We are told in the Bible at Ephesians 6:12 that "For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces..." This battle is one that all of us must deal with, and thanks to our Heavenly Father's help we don't have to confront it along. This is something that Andre Johnson had to discover in his own life. Though some stray away from sharing their personal struggles, through his book MAN WITH THREE FACES...YEARNING FOR CONTROL he has opened the door to discussing not just mental illness but how we have to be willing to give up control in order for God to truly help us.

The book takes us not just into his life growing up but what it was like for him to deal with his illness both in his professional and personal life. He discusses in the book how some of his actions led him to be misunderstood, but also gives us a glimpse into how others that he encountered mistreated him out of jealousy and their own motives.

Probably the most powerful part of the book is when Andre realized that he could not deal with his mental illness himself. As a man he just wasn't strong enough. It was only after turning it over to God was he able to manage his illness and better appreciate that when it came to control God was the only One capable of handling any and all situations.

Whether you are dealing with your own struggles with mental illness or whatever your personal challenge might be, Andre allows us to see that all is not lost. Don't give up. Your victory may not come in the way you imagined, but you will be given everything you need to live life more peacefully and with purpose.
