4.0 out of 5 stars safe and fairly effective., April 20, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have found this stuff works quite well and is almost totally safe, as opposed to the lye or acid based drain cleaners. Not only safe for you, safe for your pipes. Safe around your pets, too.

I have found it works best on slow moving drains or as once every three month maintenance, rather than for totally blocked drains.

Shattered: The Iron Druid Chronicles

5.0 out of 5 stars Shattered now out in Paperback., April 20, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is Book Seven of a series. You dont want to start here, got to Book 1 (Hounded). However, one nice thing- we are up to #7 and no sign of 'sequel-itis" or padding. Most of the books come to a ending, you could stop at any time (but you won't want to!). In fact, the books just keep getting better and better!

Quite a few funny parts, the conversations between the Iron Druid and his Wolfhound are hilarious.

As much I I loved Shattered dont do what I did- accidentally buy two copies, this newer paperback and the hardcover, which came out almost a year ago.

5.0 out of 5 stars so very cool!, April 17, 2015
It's so cute! Barely the size of two ladies hands stacked one on top of the other. Definitely portable. I can have it on the bedside in the evening and take it to work during the day. It takes tap water to fill it so no fussing with special water. That's another plus. The max fill line is clear on clear, so it took me a moment to see it, but once you do, it's very visible.

The instructions get a big plus in my book because they use the word widdershins to describe the direction you turn the top part to remove it. Such a lovely old word that doesn't get used very often.

It is very quiet and it stays cool to the touch so I had no worries about putting it on the nightstand. I thought the light might be like a little spotlight but the whole top half of the humidifier gently glows. It's fun and easy to change the color too. You can see the tiny drifts of steam against the light as they come out. It comes with a cable to plug into a computer as a power source but I just plugged it into my iPad charger and that works just as well. The water fill lasts for a long time so you can get a nice bit of moisture into the air before going to sleep. Don't leave it on though because it doesn't turn off automatically. I rcvd a sample for review. I'm going to use this a lot.

5.0 out of 5 stars You must remember this, a Kiss is just a Kiss...., April 16, 2015
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Hershey's kiss are just plain fun! I poured out a bowl and you should see everyone's face light up, as if by magic. Sure, there's more gourmet chocolate out there, no doubt. But still, nothing lights up the room and brings happy smiles like a bowl full of Kisses.

This is the super jumbo size, perfect for the office, etc.

A super-jumbo bag of smiles, that is!

5.0 out of 5 stars cool and solid ring, April 14, 2015
This is a very cool and masculine ring of Tungsten Carbide- which is a extremely hard dark silvery metal. The ring is heavy and feels substantial, with nice workmanship. I was given a choice of several rings to review, and I picked this one as I really liked the looks. The price here is odd- the "retail price" is crazy high, but the Amazon discount price of under $20 appears to be a real bargain.

Now, to me, the size seems to run a little small, either that or my fingers are fatter than they used to be. Of course that may explain all those tying errors I make! Yeah, that's the ticket- fat fingers! That's my excuse!

4.0 out of 5 stars Up & coming new Urban Fantasy writer., April 13, 2015
This is a new urban fantasy series by neophyte author R.L. King, who has a couple of other books under her belt. I know, I know, you read "urban fantasy" and see it is a newish author and groan. But wait! This book absolutely reads as if written by an experienced wordsmith. Ms King makes none of the mistakes or stumbles of a new author. This book is professionally penned (and edited).

Our Protagonist is Alastair Stone (hence "Stone and a Hard Place" ) a professor of Occult studies at a college in the San Francisco bay area, who is also a pretty powerful Mage...self described as "pale grey" instead of White or Black. An interesting change from most series is that Professor Stone is engaged in a loving monogamous relationship, which seems to be nearly nonexistent in Urban Fantasy.

Stone has just been pressured into taking a troubled new apprentice mage, and at the same time is asked to look into a old haunted house- a house which is quite a bit like the Winchester Mystery house in size and age. Besides the house, the book is well sprinkled with geek and local color references. Good characterization, too.

I am reminded of Jim Butcher here- not that R.L. King is quite in his league....yet. Still. the feel is there. Darker than most Urban Fantasy, not quite horror, but with a touch of Lovecraftian. I would like to seem more magical action happening, that took a while to show up. Otherwise, very readable, and a must read for fans of Urban fantasy.

4 & 1/2 stars. I am looking forward to the next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cool idea!, April 9, 2015
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Well, we had the electrician out to install this new iLIVING attic fan, and he was generous in his praise- he said it was really easy to install, and also had a humidity as well as a heat thermostat for turning itself on, and that's not common. He said it should save us plenty bucks on air conditioning during the hot summer months. And even better, since the dry air here cools quickly- we shouldnt need the AC at all most nights. It also ran pretty quietly. It will likely only run for a few hours a day out here.

It cost us about $150 bucks to have it installed. Note that this s a GABLE attic fan, if you dont have a gable in your "attic" then you need a different type.

5.0 out of 5 stars strong, pure Tea tree oil, April 8, 2015
This is a great tea tree oil! I added it to a homemade facial cleansers, and it worked perfectly. This oil is a wonderful addition to any home remedy like facial cleansers, toners, as well as baths salts. The packaging was sturdy and gentle cradled the bottle during shipment. It doesn’t have a separate dropper, but the stopper allows you to easily drop as much or as little as you need. The smell is just wonderful!

This is really strong, really pure stuff- the "right stuff"- Unlike many other Tea tree Oil products out there.

They asked me to review a sample, and I gladly accepted.

4.0 out of 5 stars The "real" Old West!, April 8, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have always been fascinated with the Old West, loving both the "fantasy" Old West with the Lone Ranger and the "gritty" Old West like Deadwood. Bill O' Reilly here turns his attention to the 'real" Old West, and writes a fascinating book. He interviews the relatives and descendants of the Heroes and Villains of the West, with interesting results. Davy Crockett, The Lone Ranger, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Black Bart (the PO8), Kit Carson, Jesse James, Wild Bill Hickok & Doc Holliday-- and bonus chapters on Daniel Boone, Buffalo Bill and Annie Oakley.

Very readable. Not as controversial as many of his other books.

This book is a companion piece to his documentary series "Legends and Lies: The Real West" Debuting April 12.

5.0 out of 5 stars protect those peepers!, April 7, 2015
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I have been doing a lot of gardening and home repair etc recently, what with the new house and all. Stuff just keep getting in my eyes- sawdust, dust, branches, grass, etc. I like my eyes, I wish to protect them. So when the chance came to review these goggles/glasses I jumped on it. Best for outdoor use, the amber lens is perfect for most conditions other than bright sunlight. Good indoors too. The fit is comfortable and they dont fog up like other do. The fit is nice and they come with a soft cae to protect them from getting scratched.

These would also be good for sports activities too. But do wear "protective eyewear" when working with powertools and the like- even just moving the lawn.
