5.0 out of 5 stars If the fit is right, you'll be thrilled., December 23, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've seen two of these barrettes from MaryCrafts. The first was too small; not their problem but mine for guessing my hair was too thin and horrible for anything bigger. WRONG. My hair is thin, horrible, and long. To wrap it up, I needed the medium size to fit properly. The helpful pictures tell the story. These are very nice, much more polished than the items pictured (a good thing), but otherwise accurately represented. There is no give in the big piece, so pick your size carefully. The stick can be nudged just enough to make a tight fit. Once in place, it will NOT move. In short, these are nicely designed, well made and finished pieces that will last a lifetime. No risk at all.

1.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful idea, horribly executed, June 4, 2014
I agree with all the good things reported here. It's a fast, easy to use clip that holds anything. The profile is narrow, so your head doesn't get any bigger because you're wearing it. But it's seriously flawed. I have five, and all broke within several months, most in exactly the same place. The last one is showing multiple cracks around the spring, and isn't long for this world. Seems a mighty spring has been matched with a plastic grade that isn't up to the task. Why does this always happen? Perfect, attractive, well-designed and engineered solution, ruined by crummy materials. Wish Goody would recall and fix it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Ripoff - Amazon should pull this., April 14, 2014
Sad there are actually thieves populating this place, and they can last for months. The heading contains the completely misleading "12-ounce" amount... Please, people, study these items. Apparently nobody here cares that you're getting robbed. You have to take care of yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality mat, July 13, 2013
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This mat has been through a New England winter and half of this unusually hot, wet summer, and is holding up surprisingly well. The color is still fairly rich, and though some coir strands are unraveling, the mat feels tight and secure, as though it will last a couple more years at least. It's relatively thin, so don't expect luxurious depth. Just content yourself that this mat does its job well and looks amusing when it's just lying around.

1.0 out of 5 stars Massive space waster, July 13, 2013
I should have known right away, when I took them off the shelf at Costco, that these were not a good deal, even at $11 for a pack of three. Because they're oval and conical, when placed next to each other they waste a lot of space. It turns out that cereal boxes, if closed properly, are a more efficient way to keep and store cereal. Also, the lid on one snapped off, and I'm not strong enough to punch it back where it belongs. In addition, the closure is not satisfyingly secure, and I doubt its air-tightness. So the design is deficient in almost every way. Save your money. Save plastic trees.

2.0 out of 5 stars When it counts, they are not warm., January 12, 2011
If you are looking for a slipper for the coldest days and nights of winter, these will disappoint you. Of all the things such slippers should have, the Howser lacks the most important: an insulating barrier between the crepe rubber sole and the footbed. It has everything else - sturdy, comfortable build and arch support, good coverage (though the collar is tight and may require a shoe horn to get it on), and materials that allow trucking outside and in. But warm? No. In fact, you're better off in thick socks. I am back to my trusty Lands End fake fleece mocs with suede soles, even though they fail the ultimate test also, but at least they are slower to reach failure and are faster to get off and on. And at no time do they feel like ice cube trays strapped to your feet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get these while you can!, June 20, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Can't supply statistics, but my experience is that these last a very long time, perhaps twice as long as "full power" bulbs. The difference in output is not noticeable. For those reasons alone, they are worth getting now, and stocking up on if you, like I do, fear the date in 2014 when incandescents will not be so available.

I live in a small, tight condo, so incandescent bulbs can have an effect on the temperature in the house. Also, my cats like to lounge under then during cold weather. So the energy supposedly wasted is not, not in my house anyway. In the summer I switch them out for energy efficient bulbs. What's wrong with that? Tell me!

1.0 out of 5 stars What happened to mouse pads?, June 20, 2010
First, if you spend half your day at a computer with a mouse in your hand, mouse pads are important. There are stresses everywhere destroying surfaces on the bottom of the mouse, on the table, and inside your wrist that a mouse pad can help to alleviate.

As a graphic designer I've been through many mice and mouse pads. The best were from the early days when people seemed to agree that they were important. They were of many shapes and materials but they had a few things in common: they were stiff, creating a dependably flat surface, and solid, offering smooth flow. My endless search, after those two conditions, is for FAST, of interest to gamers (and designers), and easily cleaned, since dirt interferes with speed. The greatest of all was stainless steel with a fine grid printed on it. It came with the "Little Mouse", an uncomplicated optical mouse that knew where it was based on the grid, and was capable of very high precision. I killed two of them before the company folded. Unfortunately I ruined the pads by using the mice for too long, where their slider parts wore down enough to scratch the speedy surface off the pads. Silly me.

Now we seem to have only fabric mouse pads available. Why? No matter if it's high tech, black, patterned, printed with Disney characters or what, it's NOT FAST. It is skinny, with a bit of trash creating a bump, and very good at collecting dirt, especially cat hair which weaves its way INTO the fabric requiring meticulous removal of EACH ONE, sometimes with a TWEEZERS. My god.

So, yes, this hot mouse pad gets one star because it's like all the rest out there. I'm hanging on eBay these days looking for "vintage" mouse pads, maybe of leather, but at least stiff, cleanable, and fast.

5.0 out of 5 stars Much improved from earlier model, May 23, 2010
This item appears on Amazon as the ecomposter where it received some dubious reviews. I just got it from Costco for $130, including what is normally an optional rolling stand. It seems to have shed many of the problems cited in the ecomposter reviews. The instructions could not be clearer. Assembly took maybe 30 minutes and was kind of fun. Things fit together admirably, and the only tool needed was a small hammer. It is made entirely of recycled materials, removing the last source of guilt associated with manufactured (rather than home-built) composters.

I've only started filling it, so can't yet report on the job it does. There are 50 or so reviews at [...] where others are also just getting started, but some problems popping up include the door getting stuck and/or hard to open. It seems you should make sure the cover portion of the globe is upright when you're done turning it, and keep the cover and rim surfaces clear of debris before closing. Also, if the contents are too damp, or not mixed well enough, the globe will leak "compost tea" through the air baffles. This will be unpleasant if you keep the composter near the house. Just be sure to turn it enough so that any liquid stays part of the compost and not overflow.
