The Star Wars Holiday Special
The Star Wars Holiday Special
DVD ~ Mark Hamill

2.0 out of 5 stars If Jar Jar Binks Was A Movie, December 18, 2015
Anyone who says that "The Phantom Menace" is the worst thing in the Star Wars cannon, has never seen this steaming pile of dog feces.

The words needed to describe the absurdity of this film have proven elusive for many reviewers. In many ways, actions speak louder than words. What am I referring to? The fact that this made for TV Movie has never been released in the United States on VHS or DVD. On top of that, it's never been rerun on TV.

Think about that for a moment. Even complete train wrecks of movies make it to video. This did not.

Why is this movie so bad? I'm not going to write a thirty page overview (this gives you enough fodder for that). I'm only going to mention a few things.

- There is a ten minute section of Wookie talk. It has no subtitles. I am not kidding or over stating this. Ten minutes of confusing nonsense. TEN MINUTES!!!

- Carrie Fisher, who appears to have just smoked a LARGE quantity of an illicit substance, sings a bizarre song for us, that is loosely tied into the Star Wars theme music.

- There is a disturbing scene where Chewie's elderly father is basically molested.

- A storm trooper dies. No big deal right? He doesn't get shot, beat up, or die in battle. He trips over a log and falls to his death.

Those are just a sampling of the misery included in this movie. That might lead you to ask why I gave it two stars instead of one. To be honest, this movie is so horrifically bad, it's funny. This is one of the funniest things you will ever see. After watching this movie you will wonder how this was ever made and quickly realize that you just saw something special. Only the drug fueled late 70's could have produced such a thing. We will never see anything like this again.

My recommendation to you, is to watch this after a few (or more) adult beverages. You will laugh so hard your stomach will hurt.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Value, December 9, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
A lot of people like to bash BLU and call them garbage. It's true that BLU has releases some really bad phones. However, BLU has also released some surprisingly good phones. This is one of those phones.

The performance is decent for such a cheap phone. It's not going to blow the pants off anyone, but it's good. I've rarely seen any lag when navigating BLUs version of Android. Some demanding apps, like higher end games, are going to lag a little.

BLUs version of Android is okay. It's nothing to write home about but it's not terrible. The only thing that bugs me is the way the settings are organized. It's a little clunky.

The battery is insane. I know it's a 5000 mAh battery, but it lasts longer than I expected. I was expecting two days of general use. You can get as much as four days of general use before recharging it. Your results will vary depending on how heavy of a user your are. To make a comparison - my LG Flex 2 barely lasted 15hrs with my general use. This one lasts four days. That's a massive difference and also shows that BLU did more than just pack a big battery in here. They didn't bog system down with background processes.

If you want amazing performance or the best screen, move on. If you want a high quality phone at a bargain price, this is an excellent match.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Nice Shave Oil, December 9, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
If you like a good shave oil, this one is worth a shot. The real reason to buy this one is the story behind the product. If you haven't already, check out the listing. It gives a good history for this product.

As far as a shave oil goes, this one is decent. It's not the best I've found, but it lands in the upper tier. It's a nice thick oil that does not leave you feeling greasy. I will warn you though, you may experience some stinging or a sensation of heating. I never got uncomfortable but some people might be alarmed by that.

Overall it's not as good as Shave Secret and it's more expensive, but it's still a great option for anyone who loves a shave oil.

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Skiing Film, December 4, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Intrepid Descent (Amazon Video)
This is a gem of a film. It captures one of those nooks of America that most people never hear about, never mind see. We often think of back country skiing as a modern, dangerous sport that few people would ever think about engaging in. This film helps to shed light on an area that has been used by thousands of people to back country ski for nearly a century.

This film does leave a few things out and you will enjoy it most if you have hiked Tuckerman's Ravine or at least have knowledge of Mt. Washington and it's incredible history.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Controller - Compare Package Prices!, December 3, 2015
Right now, this is one of the best controllers you can find to use with Windows 10. It feels great in your hand, has a nice build, and works with the vast majority of games. If you add some third party software to the mix you can even remap the buttons and emulate a mouse with it.

One thing to keep in mind. This comes in two packages. One has the wireless dongle and the other has a wire. Both packages include the wireless controller. If you want the one with the dongle to make it fully wireless with the PC, you might be able to save a few bucks by buying the version with the wire and then buying the dongle separately. It sounds counter intuitive, but it's how it is at the time of this review. See for yourself:

Wireless Package - 79.99

Controller With Wire Package - 47.99
Wireless Adapter - 24.99
Total - 72.98

That's seven bucks in your pocket by buying them separately. On top of that, you have the wire for when your batteries die but you want to keep playing!

3.0 out of 5 stars It's No Shave Secret, December 1, 2015
I love a good shave oil. I've found that they work much better than shaving cream. My wife picked this up for me and I tried it for a week or so. It has a few issues that keep it from being great.

PROS
Smells good.

CONS
Too expensive (when compared to Shave Secret)
Not thick enough
Doesn't soften the hair enough

When compared to Shave Secret, this is not a good product. If I forget that I ever used Shave Secret and compare this to the other oils I have tried, this is a middle of the pack product. I can see how some people might like this product since it's thinner than others, but for me that doesn't work.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Special, November 21, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Battery Pro (App)
You might see this app and think it's one of the many battery apps that are all over the Amazon and Play Store. This is not a typical battery app. Most of the battery apps out there include a task killer and tons of ads.

First off, Battery Pro is an information app. All it really does is give you information on your battery. It can push out a notification and put an icon on your tray so you always know what your battery level is. Inside the app it can provide some reports or open the standard usage screen you can find in your settings.

If you can get this for free on Amazon, it might be of some value, but overall this app doesn't do anything special. There are better battery apps that you can get for free. Some of those even kill background tasks, which expands the life of your battery.

Pros:
Easy access to battery info.
You can get it for free.
No riddled with ads.

Cons:
The data this app gives you is already available on most phones.
Limited value if you have to pay for it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a Good Value, November 19, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
People said that this razor was not "shave ready" so I was prepared for some work right off the bat. "Not shave ready" is an understatement. This will not remove ANY hair out of the box. I'm not even convinced this would cut a tomato out of the box. So I whipped out the whetstone. started with 6000 and finished with 10000. Nothing. That means it's so dull that I have to start with a higher grit to try and sharpen it. I don't have a higher grit, so now I have to buy a second whetstone.

I should have just bought a shave ready razor, because the value of this razor is falling fast.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Shoes For The Money, November 17, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've always found Skechers to be a hit or miss shoe. For the most part, they are a budget shoe, so you don't expect too much. Granted they are better than the super cheap shoes you can find at the bottom of the pile in a Walmart.

These shoes in particular hit a high note when you are talking about Skechers. The build is good, the materials are decent, and they are comfortable. The memory foams is nice, but it's so thin it doesn't do a whole lot.

Some people may find that these shoes are a little on the small side. If you have thick feet, these are going to be tight. Width seems to be fine but the height may be a concern for some people.

The traction on these is better than I was expecting. They have some nice grip to them.

Overall these shoes are a real value. You get a lot for your money. The only drawbacks are the slightly small size and the thin memory foam.

PROS:
Decent Price
Look Nice
Comfortable
Good Grip

CONS
Might Need to Order a Larger Size
Memory Foam Is More of a Gimmick

4.0 out of 5 stars Does More Than Valve Says, November 16, 2015
This review is from: Steam Link (Video Game)
The Steam Link is a decent product that does more than people realize. On the surface it allows you to connect your PC to your TV over a wireless connection. It then connects to your TV via HDMI. Honestly there are other items that can do this and some of them go far beyond steam.

Valve recommends that you use one of their controllers or connect some hardware via the USB ports on this unit. That is where some people walk away from this product. First - there are people who really don't like the Steam controller. Second - why would I want to connect a wired product to this? The whole point is to connect your PC without wires.

Here is what Steam does not tell you:

1 - Most wireless keyboard / mouse units work just fine with the Link.
2 - Most bluetooth hardware works with the Link.

What does that mean?

Most of your wireless hardware will work with the Link, including...the PS4 controller.

Yes if you want to use a great controller that does not need dongle, you can get the PS4 controller up and running. To do it, use another wired or dongle item to navigate the Link menus to the Bluetooth options. Kick on the pairing. Hold the "Share" button on your PS4 controller until it shows up on your Link. Pick it on the Link. Done!

It works great. The only real functionality loss is the rumble feature. If that's a big deal then you might want to try a different solution.

Overall the Link does more than Valve lets on. You can use far more than Steam hardware or wired hardware with it.
