Mahony did a masterful job with "Imperfect Solitude", weaving together solid character development and a fast paced storyline. Built on the platform of coastal preservation/development, the book is also a powerful look at the on-going battles for coastal access and respect for nature. It's relevancy to the current state of affairs is unparalleled. Pick up this book for sure.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Gripping Must Read, July 2, 2008

Drawn in by impeccable writing, engaging characters and rich (sometimes outright bizarre)images/scenes, I found myself immediately engrossed with the book. The story turned in several unforseen directions and filled me with equal parts hysterics, nostalgia and horror. Be prepared to fall into a world that is both remarkably comfortable and hideously unsettling. The spectrum of emotions you'll feel is astounding.

5.0 out of 5 stars A masterful suspense wound through time, December 4, 2007
This review is from: Dead On (Paperback)
Ms. Jameson's Dead On is a seamless, masterful suspense wound through time. Exploding far beyond today's typical crime scene capers, the power of the book resides in the struggles represented by the romantic and realistic notions of time, the persistent human battles with fear, need and love and an elegant writing style. You'll dream along with Ann (the lead character), feel her trepidation at getting too close to a murderous fire and wonder about the bounds of possibility of everyday life and its seemingly random occurrences. Step away from your comfort zone and walk into Dead On with Ms. Jameson. It will shake your notion of suspense.

5.0 out of 5 stars A rich and beautiful journey, November 10, 2007
Ms. Older's This Desired Place: The Isles of Shoals is a beautifully written historical novel that will whisk you back into the 17th century. The author's gorgeous use of the period's sayings and accents immediately enveloped me in the warmth of her words and the images she created. The detail built on obvious extensive research filled me with the smells, sounds and sights of the journey that the main character, Thom Taylor, undertook. I felt like I walked along beside him, enraptured by the horror of the pirates' debauchery, the cruelty of the Indian slaughters and the repulsive scents of rotting fish stew. Books are often described as a momentary escape from reality. I can think of no better example of this than This Desired Place. Treat yourself and venture back to the Isles of Shoals with Ms. Older and her characters. The past has never seemed so rich.

I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed...reading your book. I particularly enjoyed all the examples of how just when you needed it you found someone who helped you move along in your healing journey. You've written a beautiful story...I'm confident your story will make a difference to many.
