5.0 out of 5 stars Solid Reference for iPhone and iPad Developers, January 10, 2013
This is a solid reference for iOS 6 developers; the best use for these "recipe" and "cookbook" style books is to get quick answers on how to use the frameworks that we need for apps. Instead of spending hours looking up the apple document and getting questions answered on Stack Overflow I just opened up iOS 6 Recipes and found out how to:

- use the new auto-layout feature
- use the collection views (these are sorta like table views but different enough to be frustrating without a guide like this)
- work with the new image processing libraries

You should have some experience with Objective-C and iOS SDK before jumping right into this book unless you're the type of person who learns best by example. But for me this was right on target and saved me tons of time and a bit of money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Guide to the New World of Publishing, December 10, 2012
Do you aspire to be an author?

As a published author myself (both traditional and self-published) I can tell you that the reality of being an author is much different than you probably expect. Publishing has changed dramatically with the Kindle, iPad and other ebooks. While still a good option, traditional publishing is not the only way to go these days.

APE is your guidebook to navigating the new world of publishing where you have a real chance at being successful. What is nice about APE is that while the authors both talk about the tools that make publishing very easy for almost anyone, they don't sugarcoat the reality of writing a quality book. That is they really let you know that writing a book is real work and you will need to get help from other people like proof readers, designers and others. Self-publishing doesn't have to mean cheap and quick books.

BOTTOM LINE

This book is great for aspiring authors as well as more established authors who want to up their game.
