5.0 out of 5 stars Change your Mind & Change Your Cash flow, January 31, 2007
This book goes on to describe 5 different money drunks

Among them is the poverty addict, who is addicted to poverty. Usually this kind of person subconsciously feels that in order to be a good person or to be spiritual they must suffer. Then there's the Big Deal Chaser. This person goes from business start up to business start up looking for "THE ONE" to fix it all. They have the subconscious belief of "when I'll get rich I'll show'em all". Then there's the Maintenance money drunk. This person has let go of their dreams to "get a real job" or to get a job that pays the bills. They don't believe in "fairy tales".

I think we have let ourselves have a distorted view of money. Religion doesn't help. Sayings like "money is the root of all evil" or "the rich are getting richer while poor are getting poorer".

Even wealthy and rich people can be poverty addicts, feeding into the thinking that there isn't enough money to go around for everyone.

Most likely you'll find yourself being a little bit of all 5 money drunk types with maybe a concentration in one or two.

Between the poverty addiction and the big deal chasers, I think most of us are afraid to really evaluate our relationship with money and really let ourselves have a spiritual relationship with money. (Spiritual and money ...huh?? does that even exist? YES!)

This book makes you realize that no matter if you win the lottery or get more money coming in, if your inner feelings towards money are not balanced, you will most likely create situations that will suck you dry financially. (Bills, credit, debt, etc)

Cliches such as "money isn't everything" may pop into your mind, but when the topic of family comes up people don't say "family isn't everything" or when the topic of health comes up people don't say "health isn't everything". When the topic of electricity comes up , people don't say "electricity isn't everything".

I think money has gotten a bad wrap due to a variety of things we've been taught including religion teaching that wealth is bad. Money is like electricity. You can use it to warm your home and cook a good meal for your friends and loved one....or you can use it to COOK YOUR FAMILY. That doesn't make electricity good or bad. Electricity just is. Money is the same way - it just IS.

I recommend this book to anyone, especially those who are spiritually inclined. We all owe it to ourselves and to our loved ones to be wealthier! In my opinion we ALL deserve to have the finer things in life!

5.0 out of 5 stars Penetrate The Human Mind, January 27, 2007
This is more of a psychology book than a book on marketing and selling. But then, I think that marketing and selling are intertwined with psychology. In order to sell effectively, you've got to understand human psychology.

In order to make a profitable life, you've got to understand people at a deeper level than most. Breakthrough Advertising penetrates on a deeper level, the buying psychology.

It also explains to you the life cycle of any product. It explains to you that you've got to figure out the consciousness level of your target and combine that with the life age of your product.

For example, products like Coca Cola and Mcdonalds have a older life age than say a business that just opened yesterday. Therefore you would advertise a product like Coca Cola differently than if you were promoting a small family business.

But one of the main things I appreciate about this book is the fact that Eugene Schwartz talks about unconscious desires of people that always were and always will be. These feelings, thoughts, and desires cannot be created or destroyed. In fact the way Mr. Schwartz writes about these unconscious desires remind me of the laws of physics. Energy cannot be created nor destroyed.

The key of the profitable and lucrative marketer is to harness and channel these desires on to your product or service.

There are many principles in this book that makes this book a "bible" of marketers and copywriters. This book should be in EVERY professional's library.

There is a Gold mine of information in this book. ANY Price you pay is worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get an insider's view, January 27, 2007
This review is from: Thailand Fever (Paperback)
I read this book in 2 days. I recommend this book for any Western man who is dating or courting a Thai woman. I was ignorant to many Thai ways. This book is Heaven-sent as it is easy to read and understand and cleared up a lot of misunderstandings I had previously.

For example: Many guys told me that Thai women lie and to get used to it. I had a negative view of this. But the truth is that Thai culture is non-confrontational and that it saves face of everyone involved. In order to avoid anyone being embarrassed or degraded, Thai people may at times stretch the truth or speak something other than the blatant truth. This is not meant maliciously, but as a Westerner it may be hard to understand, especially if you are from a culture that prides itself from boldness, bluntness and outspokeness.

Because of my German heritage, I was taught to be blunt and not to beat around the bush. I was taught that this was a sign of respect towards others. I learned that in Thai culture this is a sign of DISREPSECT. It is often to save face and to avoid confrontation in Thailand.

Also the issue with the dowry bride price bothered me until I read this book. I felt uncomfortable with the idea of paying for a woman to marry her. But since reading this book, I realized that Thai culture expects men to pay a dowry as a symbol of love, respect, appreciation and gratitude to the wife's parents for raising and caring for her.

Not every family will require a dowry, so each situation is different.

It is also a sign of readiness to support the future wife. In the West we are taught that love is seperate from money, but in other cultures money may represent a symbol of love. This way of thinking is very different from what I was taught in the West, but it did help me to be more open minded to other ways of thinking. It helped me to understand the deep feelings of Thai culture and to realize that it is not necessarily "gold digging" or "greediness" for a woman to ask for money or material things.

I also understood why a woman may feel depressed, sad, or angry if her boyfriend or husband does not give her material things. On the western point of view it may be seen as "buying" love, but the #1 value of Thai people is generosity. They base their self worth on how generous they are. Therefore, it is hard for them to understand if someone does not want to show generosity.

(Of course balance and communication along with compromise is best in any relationship no matter what cultures are involved. Letting your girlfriend/wife and her family know what you can reasonably afford to help with is almost always going to avoid problems. Letting them know that your heart is true and genuine can often make life a lot easier.)

Although each Thai-Western relationship will differ, I will recommend this book to anyone who wants to understand his Thai girlfriend or wife and where she is coming from.

To my delight, the book is written in both Thai and English, so your

wife or girlfriend and her family can also read this to understand

you better.

Not every single thing in this book will apply to every single relationship, but it does give you something to work from if you are new to this all.

3.0 out of 5 stars Effective Arguements but lost my favor in the end, December 23, 2006
The author makes an excellent arguement about the bible being the book of an angry and vengeful as well as cruel being , known as YHWH. He poses questions about Israelites ravishing whole entire nations for not worshiping Jehovah (YHWH). He also points out the problem with sacrifcing animals and humans for someone else's "sins". Shouldn't we all be accountable for our own errors?

I really felt I could identify with the author until midway through he poses the thought of there being a "master race" of people. That's when he lost me. In all of his attempts to debunk the bible due to cruelty and racism, the author himself turns into the very thing he tries to debunk. That's my opinion of it. Was a bit disappointed, but overall I'm still glad I purchased the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Direct Mail For Dummies, December 23, 2006
When I received this book I was expecting at least 200 to 300 pages. I was wrong. This is a short and concise book. It covers the very basics of direct mail and is a great book for beginners as well as busy entrepreneurs who do not have a lot of time to read thick manuals and "bibles" when it comes to direct mail.

As for anyone who will be involved with direct mail on a deeper level, I do not recommend this book.
