4.0 out of 5 stars Clever and fun, June 3, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Not often metal can be described as fun. For my friends who don't /get/ metal, I tell them this album is what happens when Fred from the B-52s and Danny Elfman decide to make a metal album.

As for style, I hear lots of Tiamat here for the orchestration, and can't help but wonder at the influence of acoustic metal work (Opeth, for example) on the melodies. There's plenty of classical nods and a fantastic keytar solo on the song Ad Astra.

This album was money well spent (and also my first purchase through Amazonmp3 - what a breeze. iTunes, you're almost unusable).

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic netbook!, November 20, 2009
Speedy (Win 7 boots faster than Vista does on my much more powerful laptop), amazing battery life (I've eked out more than the 9 hours on the label), light and a pleasure to use. The full-sized keyboard makes typing easy and with 3 USB ports, if you need peripherals, you're covered. The keyboard is a little squishy which takes a moment to get used to and I wish there was more than just a VGA port for video options, but overall as long as you're not trying to stream full-screen 1080 resolution movies, you'll find nothing to complain about.

I bought a Crucial CT25664AC667 2GB memory stick to improve multitasking and dual boot with Ubuntu Netbook Remix Karmic, which works out of the box for everything except sound (and the fix for that is in the pipeline). Personally, and I'm surprised to say this, I prefer Win 7 Starter. Everything just works flawlessly on this little netbook and I can't find anything that really disappoints me.

1.0 out of 5 stars Condescending film doesn't support its own arguments, May 11, 2009
A long held tradition on the side of those with lots of emotion and little to say has been to insult the other side. Here you find more than an hour of laborious, droning, brow-beating insults to the mountains of evidence science has provided for a model of the universe that does not need an intelligent creator. Meanwhile, the film does nothing to support its own claims that an alternative argument has any merit at all.

Be not fooled; when it's not making false conflations and comparing anything and everything to Hitler's regime (Ben, you should be ashamed of yourself for belittling the suffering of millions so you can turn a buck and pander to those who mock education!), it's clobbering you with clumsy imagery and ad-hominems.

Spare yourself suffering, cost and loss of time. There are much better ways to hear the weak arguments against a material universe.
