4.0 out of 5 stars Inexpensive electric razor. Double foil provides an acceptable shave., August 28, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This razor is an entry level basic foil shaver which does a good job on medium to fine hair. It's not the best for very coarse hair or for people with softer skin. But that's true for all foil shavers, they work best with firmer skin. This is only a dry shaver, and the hair has to be cleaned off with a brush. So if you're used to a manual wet shave it will not be a satisfying experience as you will have to make several passes to get at all the hair.

It is an all plastic design given the price point, it can be a good shaver for travel.

4.0 out of 5 stars Waterproof and light, runs a bit narrow., August 28, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This is a good golfing shoe that helps avoid slippage on dewy golf greens. It's waterproof and light and I found it to work well even on mossy hiking trails in the Pacific Northwest. It does not have much arch support and is best as a golfing shoe.

Pretty comfortable and true to size but runs a bit narrow and does not have much give due to the waterproof construction. If you have average to wide feet it may be best to size up a little.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works as advertised but not very convenient, a few kinks need to be sorted out., August 27, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This V.ALRT system syncs with a smartphone through an app. It is worn on the wrist like a watch or can be hung around the neck. The system needs to stay in range of the smartphone for it to work. It is supposed to activate if a person falls or has an accident but in practice that doesn't work so well. It activates even if it falls off the night stand as happened in our case and we got calls through our synced phone in the middle of the night.

The call is made through a third party service. It worked well in testing it by pressing the alert button on the device. My daughter goes for runs with her phone and is would be a nice addition to provide some extra safely. However, if she is running out of batteries the device does not work so she needs to be careful to charge her phone all the time. I turned it off after a while as it kept getting activated with some slight movement on the night stand and kept calling my phone and waking everyone up in the night. I think it's a decent alert device but not 1005 reliable. so I would not advise for true emergency use for elderly people.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good looks and good picture, and a great size for a dorm or an office table., August 26, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Great design, great HD images and a thin and light profile. This is a really nice monitor from Samsung. Love the size, that's big but not enormous so it looks good on a study table. The white bezel and the clear stand adds to the look, and makes it seem light as feather unlike my black and clunky Dell monitor of the same size. It also has a pretty wide viewing angle. Looks great in a girl's room or a guy's room. A nice monitor to pair with a Macbook Pro.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast and simple to use, laminates with no bubbles or airpockets., August 26, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This is a really nice laminator that is fast, simple and intuitive and user friendly. No instructions needed. The lamination is clear and free of bubbles. It laminates up to 12 inch wide documents that can come in handy with projects. It works much better than a 9" Scotch Thermal Laminator that I own, however to be fair it is also much more expensive. It has 6 rollers in comparison to Scotch's 2 roller system.

This laminator can stand up to repeated usage so seems ideal for a school room or home office.

3.0 out of 5 stars Would save money for a higher end sound bar, lacks oomph!, August 26, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I have 2 other sound bars from another brand (Boston Acoustic) and this Sharp sound bar was a bit underwhelming given a similar price range. The bar is meant for a smaller room like a bedroom but not a theater room or living room. The bar lacks bass in my opinion, although to be fair Boston Acoustic sound bar came with a subwoofer that adds some punch. I do like its sleekness and design though as it is 'Sharper' than some other boxy looking sound bars.

I ended up turning off the bar and going with my Panasonic TV speakers as they seemed to have better and more integrated sound.

4.0 out of 5 stars Misting function works well, sturdy fan that can be used outdoors or indoors., August 26, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This is a sturdy outdoor fan, the blades are not too big but it's fairly heavy so it stays put. A hose is required to create the misting function but it can also be used without the hose for indoor use. We used it as an outdoor fan initially and it was pretty effective in providing some relief on hot days but since then switched to using it indoor in our basement.

It was pretty easy to put together, except one tiny screw that seemed to be missing but we were able to improvise with another screw. I will be calling customer support for that part, but for now the fan works fine on all speeds without much shake. It is not a silent fan which I like as I need to create white noise to drown out the external sounds coming through open windows at night. I like it as it serves well as an indoor and outdoor fan.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good concept but this book is neither informative nor funny., July 7, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
From the title of the book I thought it would be a concise version of what they teach in business school but with a real world spin. It sounded like an interesting concept. However, the book is nothing of the sort. It dishes out some real world advice with a slightly condescending tone.

Some things are mildly funny, but most often they're not. It has chapters like The Zen of Cosmic Boredom which has pie charts for " Why Boss Time is Less Boring" - it could have been funny if it had some real insight and incisive humor. Sadly this book is neither informative, nor witty or satirical. Like some other reviewers stated, it seems to be written for someone who has not run a business. It constantly offends without the redeeming dark humor or satire that makes us laugh.

3.0 out of 5 stars More breadth than depth for road trip planning, a starting point, you will need additional research., July 7, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Summer is the time for road trips so I got this book to plan a few down West Coast. This book divides up the country into a few sections like - New York and the Mid Atlantic, New England, Florida and South, Great Lakes, Great Plains, Rocky Mountains, The Southwest, California and Pacific Northwest. I am pretty familiar with some regions since I've already gone on some road trips and found although this book covers the breadth of USA it does not have much depth. I studied some of the itineraries of Pacific Northwest, California and Florida and found that it ignored some great spots to suggest some lesser known vacation spots that are not as scenic or interesting.

If the idea is to see the best a state or region has to offer than simply stopping at many cities on the way, you will have to pick and choose from the suggested stops along each trip. For instance the Cascade Drive in Washington state is suggested as a 4-5 day road trip. If one was visiting from out of state I would suggest that they spend maybe 1-2 days on a scenic spot from the Cascade Drive but also visit the beautiful wild coast, the rain forests, and the San Juan Islands, pretty easily accomplished in 5 days. Similarly the Olympic Peninsula loop drive ignores Seattle completely and starts in Olympia - the capital city, but why make the extra drive if you're interested in nature? Most people flying in would prefer starting from Seattle going to some of the points like Ruby Beach, the Hoh Rain Forest, Port Angeles and back and maybe use the remaining time (2 days) to see Seattle sights or drive out to Cascades.
Similarly the highway 1 trip down Florida coast could be much shorter and one need not stop at all the cities - instead spend more time in the ones that offer more to see or even make a side trip to Disney or Universal in Orlando. This book is therefore a good starting point that lays out the maps, gives you best seasons to visit and some suggestions about what to do in each city. It needs to be supplemented with a lot of research from TripAdivsor and other sites and more guidebooks devoted specifically to the region for a full itinerary.

3.0 out of 5 stars Basic items for first aid, a must for any summer adventure trip., June 30, 2014
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This kit has all the basics and all I need to add to it is some band-aids for minor scrapes and some alcohol swabs and maybe some itch or sting relief ointments and a temporary cold pack.

It gets 3 stars as I've purchased these types of kits earlier from discount stores during summer time to keep at home and in the car and they seem to be less expensive. The only item I can see extra in this kit is a little scissor and a plastic tweezer but it's missing some items that other kits had - like some basic medicines, band-aids, alcohol swabs. It's probably because it has more than one of many things like nitrile gloves and it meant to be a 25 person kit with 99 pieces.

The other reason it gets 3 stars is because it's a little too large and has inner inserts that hold the items. I prefer something smaller as it's more handy and easy to store especially in the car. Overall a good basic kit for any summer trips or just for the home.
