3.0 out of 5 stars Mashup of Zelda and Prince of Persia with a splash of RPG, September 11, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Overall, Darksiders II was an a game looking for a niche. It's a mashup of more modern Zeldas (room to room puzzles and combat) complete with getting the Map and the Key for each dungeon, and a modern Prince of Persia with the wall-to-wall jumping, pole hugging and very particular ledge holding. Add in a splash of RPG mechanics (level up, drops, etc) and you have a game.

But, the controls sometimes lacked snappiness, and the raw amount of the theme world color (brown, green, or grey) really pulled away from the experience. The sprinking of combat in the dungeons were offsetting as you would have a few puzzles, and then be thrown into a combat room. After battles, there was another round of puzzling.

The game never really gelled for me, as the experience boiled down to: Enter Dungeon, puzzle, puzzle, puzzle, combat room, puzzle, get the key, puzzle, combat room, puzzle, get the map, puzzle, puzzle, boss, Exit Dungeon.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bugs abound in this driving game., April 4, 2011
Test Drive Unlimited 2 takes a large step back in the franchise, mostly due to bugs in the game which has made the game have playability problems since release. Once the bugs have been cleared up, I expect the game will be more enjoyable, but for now, the bugs have driven (hah) away all the fun I have for this game. It's unfortunate, really.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but the removal of RPG elements is a loss I miss, February 26, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Playing Mass Effect 2 is like watch a good movie, a movie where you can interrupt the flow at certain points and take control of the characters and slightly change the plot. Mass Effect has always been about telling a grand story, and the middle part of the Mass Effect trilogy has made improvements over the first title, the story is deeper, and a bit more interesting and complex than ME1 (Mass Effect 1). Unfortunately with the improved story comes the removal of nearly every single traditional RPG element. Playing the game, I feel like I am being dragged through the story instead of being PART of the story like I did in ME1. Without the RPG elements to break up the story and to give something else to focus on, the game became a bit repetitious. Overall, amazing story, lacking gameplay, and cover based shooting made the game fun, but I wanted different things than what the developers of ME2 wanted.

4.0 out of 5 stars A hardcore dungeoner's delight, March 26, 2009
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Make no mistake, this game is HARD, you will die and lose minutes, NAY HOURS, of game time! But that's something you have to accept playing this wonderfully hardcore dungeon romp.
