4.0 out of 5 stars Good gloves for the price, but buy one size up if you have normal to longish fingers, June 24, 2016
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This seems like a very good pair of gloves for the price. I will be using these for both bike riding and for trekking (to keep blisters off my hands from trekking poles.) The size guide is a little misleading, The circumference measurement is OK, if a little small, for figuring out the size, but only if you have shortish fingers. I wear an XL men's glove in every other glove I've ever tried. The fingers in these are too short in XL. Mine were pushing hard against the tips before my fingers were even flexed, -- something that would result in poor blood circulation very quickly once my hand were wrapped around a grip. If in doubt, size up. I'm going to need and XXL, and I don't have hands that are really all that big. A true XXL hand wouldn't fit in these gloves at all.

2.0 out of 5 stars Flaws make this a bad buy, June 14, 2016

Seems to be pretty accurate, but it needs to be zeroed CONSTANTLY. If you keep the caliper locked in one position and just hit the cm/inches button to swap units, the measurement sometimes goes way off, and you need to start all over again. I wouldn't buy this again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice cage for the money., June 14, 2016
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
A nice, light bottle cage, prettier than the usual models, and maybe a bit easier to use. Insulated bottles are a tight fit. Pull the sides apart carefully to make it easier to get them in and out. But don't pull these too far or too often, aluminum doesn't like being flexed so much.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent, but a couple problems, June 3, 2016
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Decently made. Not a very great range of adjustability, however. Didn't fit the 24" bike I bought it for. 10 minutes with the hacksaw and some shoo goo fixed that. It's also designed with a less than optimal turn so it is easy to get crank interference. Probably better off looking at the kind that mount on the chain stay.

Also, cut a few pieces of old inner tube and use them between the mounting plates and the bike frame. It'll still be plenty strong, but it won't scuff up your frame so much. Don't over torque the bolt, either, or you'll squash your frame tubing. Use Loctite to keep it from loosening up.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best bells -- but beware counterfeits on this page, April 29, 2016
EDIT: the black bells on this page are not Mirrycle Incredibells. (I can't speak for the rest.) The photo shows the real item, complete with the "made in Japan" label. They don't come that way. They are a cheap Chinese counterfeit with substandard finish and ring tone. They do not fit the same range of handlebar diameters as the genuine article either. Amazon should not let this fraudulent listing continue. I have alerted them, we'll see if they follow through.

I have these on every bike in the house, that's half a dozen. They are not only fun, they are an important piece of safety equipment. On the trail, they alert runners, walkers, other cyclists that you're coming up on them, from a long way off, in an inoffensive, even pleasant way. As someone who runs and bikes on the same trail, I can vouch that the bell is 1,000,000x better than shouting "passing!" at people. Pity the fancier road bikers think that makes them cool.

These are also loud enough to provide some protection in traffic, not in moving traffic, of course, but at corners on summer days, especially when windows are open. (You'll want to buy an air zounds air horn to be safer in traffic, for sure.)

I've also purchased the "clever lever" version of these, but the sound isn't as loud or pleasant, and the lever itself doesn't really stay put, so I'm buying more of these traditional ones to install in place of those. If I have to hack up some mounts to get the where my thumbs are, so be it.

2.0 out of 5 stars NOT reflective, April 5, 2016
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The term "reflective" should be removed from this listing, as this tape is not reflective whatsoever. Easy to test. Take it to an interior bathroom, lights off, wear a headlamp, face the mirror, hold the tape out and see if it glows. It won't. Other reflective tapes I've purchased, of course, do.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best in class, March 20, 2016
I have used this to add new rubber to running shoes for years. It works very well, especially for the price. One of my legs is a little longer than the other, and I scuff that heel a little more when running, with the result that shoes wear about 2x as fast on the heel. When I'm running high mileage (50-70 per week), I can apply about an 1/8 bead of shoo goo to the heel and be good for another 3 weeks.

It's great to use for anything that's going to be abraded, and it makes a good adhesive for stuff like foam rubber and other gear webbing, braiding, etc. I also use this to put a blob on the bottom of trekking poles so the expensive tips don't wear down too soon. It also makes them stickier and much less noisy to use on hard surfaces.

Make sure you wash the area for application with a little soap (any will do) and a scrub brush and dry before application. If you can, let it cure in a warm spot (away from people, bad fumes!) and give it 2 days to cure. It makes a big difference if you let it cure an extra day -- much less likely to peel off in a big clot. The stuff seems to cure from the air side in.

I have tried Freesole, which is a LOT more expensive, and although that makes a tougher final product, it's runnier, therefore more work to apply (requires taping) and the tougher rubber doesn't last all that much longer. Maybe twice as long. But given the higher cost and cost of application of that material, shoo goo is a better bet.

Topeak Road Morph G Bike Pump with Gauge
Topeak Road Morph G Bike Pump with Gauge
Price: $29.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Best bicycle pump ever made., March 16, 2016
This is by FAR the best portable bike pump you can buy. I can think of half a dozen times when I've stopped and used my pump to help another cyclist who simply couldn't get air into a tire with the typical stick frame pump.

Yes, it is a little bigger and weighs a little more than those tiny micropumps, but unlike those, this thing actually works. Three reasons:

1) It's a good, strong pump, well sealed with a long stroke
2) The hose allows good contact that won't constantly leak due to bending, twisting, etc. as with single stick pumps
3) The footpeg lets you hold the thing down and get decent leverage. Drop your upper body's weight onto this thing (use two hand, straight arms on the handle) and you can easily get more than 110 into a tire -- not sure why anyone would need to.)

You can put 110 pounds in a tire with one of these in a minute, with ease. Better yet, you'll KNOW the pressure because it's got a built in gauge. I've never seen a little fancy-boy frame pump that can compete. Carry one of those around, even at half the weight, and you're carrying a useless piece of trash. Get this thing and a decent patch kit and be ready for the inevitable flats. Mine's lasted more than a decade and still going strong.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money. Wicking action doesn't work., February 14, 2016
If you like your home the same humidity as the dry, outside winter air, then by all means waste your money on this unit. I had to install this with a new furnace because the contractors wouldn't reuse (the completely workable) drain from my existing on-furnace humidifier, one of the older-style ones that just dribbles water down the membrane. As another reviewer here described it perfectly, this one doesn't work, because it's supposed to wick water up from a small reservoir at the bottom, but the wicking action doesn't do it.

"There's a reservoir at the bottom of the humidifier, with two plastic plungers. When the unit comes on, water trickles down the pad, and collects in the reservoir, causing the plungers to float. Inside the plungers are small magnets. Below the reservoir are "contacts". When the water level drops, the bottom of the plungers drop to the bottom of the reservoir, and complete the circuit, which opens the valve to allow water to trickle onto the pad. As the water level rises, it causes the plungers to float, lifting the magnets away from the contacts, which breaks the circuit, causing the valve to close, shutting off the water flow. The pad then wicks the water from the reservoir, enabling the unit to be very stingy with water use. The problem is, it doesn't wick enough water to keep up with the humidity needs in really cold weather."

My house is 22% humidity now that the temperature is 20s at night, 30s in the day, and that's so dry the woodwork is cracking. Prior (old, rusted, lousy) honewell unit kept home in the 30s. This one doesn't get the job done, even though the water is flowing just fine. I have a small house (2000 sq feet) and a new furnace that runs very efficiently, AND is set to circulate air when its not running, meaning its moving air through this wicking membrane a lot, and that still doesn't bring adequate humidity into the air.
