5.0 out of 5 stars RIck James always kept a Spark, July 13, 2014
this cat is missed and one of the most honest voices in music period. the man was badd. he influenced a whole lot. he had little puppets jacking his stuff and RIck James never got his due and was too Black and scared alot of folks with the truth. musically he covered a wide range and made you think and he talked about alot of things. alot of these cornball rappers should go to school on his work and understand how to be street and yet how to have sophistication and maintain a standard. He was the last Great Funkateer to me and he did things his way. the original book had me rolling and he told alot of truths and he also sadly took alot of things to his early Grave. he was better than a cheap skit. this man had a incredible musical vision. he was something else.

5.0 out of 5 stars a great overview, July 7, 2014
great songs. one artist who didn't over do a thing and kept it a hundred percent and his songs told stories and wrote themselves and were straight forward. this collection showcases and highlights him and the versatile nature of his material which covers gospel,R&B,Pop, folk, country,blues,jazz,etc.. he tapped into so much and yet always kept it smooth and direct and his whiskey tone voice worked and moved many a ear and soul.

2.0 out of 5 stars just aight, July 1, 2014
didn't really feel much from hearing this album.i respect Mary J Bliege and she has had quite the career, however between that corny christmas album and this album, i just feel something is missing and she can do better in her sleep. problem is nobody can take her where she longs to be and that is to be on that top tier mountain of the baddest female Artists ever. she is in a lane, however she hasn' taken that leap as she seemed destined for back in the 90's when she could almost do no wrong as a artist. this album feels so safe and predictable it ain't even funny.

4.0 out of 5 stars a tight album, July 1, 2014

one cool album from the very underrated Joe thomas. and yeah he channels R.Kelly and alot of cats from the past two decades have. however while he channels R.kelly on certain tracks, he also channels the early 80's and Joe got some stank going on with a few of these tracks. he has some funk in his musical chops. Joe ain't been around this long by accident, he is a talented artist who stays true to his musical roots. and this album is cool.

2.0 out of 5 stars just ok, July 1, 2014

thicke has some talent, however not anywhere near the way he jacks Marvin Gaye amongest others and thinks. he is a good live showman and can sing, however he ain't the deepest bird as a lyricist in the nest. this being his personal win her back album just ain't got the goods. he got lucky with jacking a Marvin Gaye jack with blurred lines, problem here the only blurred lines he got going on here is at some peanut and cocktail lounge playing in his beer. personal albums are one thing and then making a statement is another and this is strickly for his base and not much else. one of these days i wonder what the real him actually sounds like? for all of these years he has been performing as someone else and now he expects it to be believed that he is showcasing whats always there? interesting.

3.0 out of 5 stars pretty good, July 1, 2014
This review is from: In The Lonely Hour (Audio CD)
pretty good i like his voice and i feel with material that truly challenges him in years to come then he might be a real threat. this is pretty good right here, the only thing missing is that production and the songs don't quite take him to the next level and that is good since this is his first album. but this is pretty good jump start and much to be continued.

5.0 out of 5 stars it was a wild riide, June 28, 2014
one of those books that puts you front and center and offers you the full course.i laughed really hard at how this book was going into details and just be frank as all get up and get high. one of those books that you wish more artists would be as open and keep things in perspective and just be real and not trip up over their own shoe laces.very cleaver and direct. great read.

5.0 out of 5 stars RIP Soul Legend, June 27, 2014
this man sang songs about relationships the ups and downs unlike anybody else. if their is a category for telling it like it is and being brutally honest and not tripping on what you think then he is your Musical doctor. one of the baddest guitar players ever, great songwriter and a voice that had so much urgency and honesty to a fault. he was a MC before it had a name. he always put it down to you on the record and he had that down home vibe. incredible talent and songs that speak on the gut bucket way of life. underrated and all around great talent.
