5.0 out of 5 stars one slamming cut, August 30, 2015
This review is from: Schoolboy Crush (Vinyl)
one of those smoking bass driving grooves where it stays in your mind after hearing it.
this is one of the tightest bands from back in the day
and it still grooves
and you can move to it. strong arrangement and production. tight cut.

ME'SHELL NDEGEOCELLO 45 RPM IT THAT'S YOUR BOYFRIEND (HE WASN'T LAST NIGHT) / TWO LONELY HEARTS (ON THE SUBWAY)

4.0 out of 5 stars tight cut, August 29, 2015
one of those cuts with that sharp bass line
and it just grooved. she was truly onto something back when she first came out. dug her edge, tone
and feel
and her voice was razor sharp and yet had a raw innocence. this is a tight cut.

3.0 out of 5 stars hit and miss, August 26, 2015
This review is from: Compton (Audio CD)
dre is still the standard of rap producers because who else could make folks wait nearly 2 decades for said follow up? now to me the chronic will always be a rap standard period. and i still feel that when he was on death row he was his most driving. now the plus side was Kendrick Lamar. the baddest rapper going today for my money. this album sounds modern and lacking that cold G Funk which was the sauce on those past albums. this feels like an attempt at keeping up with what is happening. this album feels a step or two off, however it has a moment or two and i give Dre his due always.

3.0 out of 5 stars its cool, August 25, 2015
great having lauryn hill back where she has been so missed. also Alice Smith was on point
and gregory porter was on point. and Mary J Bliege did her thing. however Nina Simone is just hard to cover because she had a one of a kind of type of presentation and you notice it when you hear her. its very modern in sound, however nothing beats the original despite a few cool on point takes.

always dig hearing buddy guy wail and also him given the late great BB King a tribute
and also jamming with Billy Gibbons is cool. however while i dug the tasty solos
and i always dig Guy's playing, the album was cool in places, however it didn't really
come full circle. well produced and arranged, however it didn't leap out, however
its cool and flows pretty good.

5.0 out of 5 stars very moving book, August 25, 2015
very strong book that truly keeps moving
and gets at you
and it has a strong work effort
and effect and it talks directly from the soul.
this book pulls no punches
and its the kind of book that should be required reading by all.
and it says no sorrys or anything that takes away
and its one of those books where it voices
and it conveys
and it leads you into a powerful frame of mind set and it takes you back and forth
and its the kind of book you won't ever put down.

a great overview of West Coast Domination and I was a huge fan of those cuts. ain't feeling the edits, etc.. however this compilation is a good way to digest how the west ran things and how you had so much great talent from the West SIDE! would have been tight to have Dj Quik on here. still when you look back and see how the music has held up strongly and still moves heads. RIP to eazy e

5.0 out of 5 stars a great must buy for any isley fan, August 23, 2015
to me tied with Earth, wind and fire as the greatest band ever. i say that because these cats have classics in so many eras under different styles and vibes
and still so soulful and so strong. the rhythm section was always on point. Ernie Isley,Chris Jasper,Marvin Isley,etc.. and the golden key of it all
ROnald "Mr.Biggs" Isley. what a harmony. the amazing thing about their sound is that they never used horns. these guys were scary talented
and just hit hard be it on originals and covers. you hear where all the samples and loops came from. you feel their influences and also whom they inspired and influenced and that is countless acts. not many acts can say they have worked with music royality as jimi Hendrix, Elton John and R.Kelly. what a sound, strong songwriting, arrangements, production and a vibe of family is what you always heard with their music through the years. i love all eras of their music. one of the baddest musical family acts ever and you are feeling timeless music here.
