5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST ALBUM BY THE BYRDS., January 1, 2015
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have made a review of the remaster edition of the late 1990s. Therefore, I will point out some songs that are not on that edition. I like KEVIN KELLEY'S lead vocal on ALL I HAVE ARE MEMORIES. His singin' reminds my of CLARENCE WHITE. The other cd only had the instrumental version. Plus, I also like GRAM PARSONS lead vocal on YOU DON'T MISS YOUR WATER. In fact, he should have been allowed to sing most of the album in general.

This cd has got some of the best music feature country rock style. The harmonies by GRAM PARSONS & CHRIS HILLMAN are so natural. Actually, the first album GILDED PALACE OF SIN is the best of the 2 on this cd. Music like this should never be forgotten.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT ACTION MOVIE THAT SHOULD NOT BE FORGOTTEN, December 27, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Double Revenge [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I enjoyed watching the actor LEIGH MCCLOSKEY in this movie about two men wanting to avenge the loss of their loved ones during a bank robbery shoot out. Without evidence to convict the robber JOE HALSEY, he is released and sets out on his mission to make MICK TAYLOR play for getting his brother killed by the police. Meanwhile, MICK TAYLOR begins to practice his gun shooting skills with the help from his father-in-law in order to protect himself and avenge the murder of his wife. Maenwhile, a deputy named BURT persuades the woman (and childhood friend)ANGIE CORELLO to come to the police to help them convict JOE HALSEY and to get him out of her house. Overall, this movie is a must have for all action lovers.

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT DIRTY HARRY SEQUEL, December 27, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Dead Pool (DVD)
THE DEAD POOL is a must have for all DIRTY HARRY fans. First of all, CLINT EASTWOOD continues to take no prisoners in this movie. Plus, the supporting cast reallly make this movie entertaining. PATRICIA CLARKSON plays and ambitious news reporter covering the story on CALLAHAN'S major role in the LOU JARENO conviction, and his investigation in THE DEAD POOL deaths. Then there is LIAM NEESON who plays the head strong move director PETER SWAN who puts CALLAHAN on his DEAD POOL list which becomes real. Also, there is EVAN C. KIM who plays DIRTY HARRY'S latest partner and is also an expert in KUNG FU. Finally, there is MICHEAL CURRIE who reprises his role as CAPTAIN DONNELLY (LT. in SUDDEN IMPACT) and gets fed up with CALLAHAN'S destruction of police vehicles and JIM CARREY who plays the drug addict actor JOHNNY SQUARES. As for the scenes in this movie, my favorite is the car chase with CALLAHAN and his partner, the radio controlled explosive car, and the killer's car. However during the scene when CALLAHAN walks in on the identified killer attacking SAMANTHA WALKER, PETER SWAN should have also been there to comfront him since it was someone in the past that he remembered. Overall, this movie is and excellent action movie for all CLINT EASTWOOD AND DIRTH HARRY fans. Furthermore, this is the first DIRTY HARRY movie when CLINT EASTWOOD says "marvelous" and "swell" in the same movie. "Marvelous" is from THE ENFORCER, and "swell" is from SUDDEN IMPACT.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST OF RAINBOW AND RONNIE JAMES DIO, November 16, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Rainbow: Live in Munich 1977 (DVD)
I have seen a lot of videos and concert footages by RONNIE JAMES DIO and RAINBOW of the 80s and. However, this concert represents the best music that they have ever performed. I love the beginning of the concert when that play THE WIZARD OF OZ movie and a revised intro of OVER THE RAINBOW, as well as the end fo the concert with the actual OVER THE RAINBOW. The music on this concert is true 70s style, especially with the guitar and organ riffs. My favorite songs are LONG LIVE ROCK AND ROLL and DO YOU CLOSE YOUR EYES. I also love the way that COZY POWELL uses both base drums throughout most of each song unlike other double base drummers. That was the first thing I noticed about him when watching LONG LIVE ROCK AND ROLL for the first time on YOUTUBE. The lineup on this video (RICHIE BLACKMORE, BOB DAISLEY, RONNIE JAMES DOI, COZY POWELL, AND DAVEY STONE)should have reunited in the 90s both the unfortunate deaths of COZY POWELL AND RONNIE JAMES DIO who along with BLACKMORE were the most consistant members of one of the greatest rock groups of the 70s.

5.0 out of 5 stars OUTSTANDING SEQUEL TO WOODSTOCK, November 16, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Big Sur Celebration 1969 (DVD)
I enjoy the music and footage of all the bands on and off stage. I enjoy listening to songs by JOAN BEAZ, DOROTHY MORRISON AND THE COMBS SISTERS, JONI MITCHELL'S version of GET TOGETHER. JONI MITCHELL'S version of WOODSTOCK on the piano is such so rewarding to listen to. More important, this version should have been a major hit. Plus, I love to listen to JOHN SEBASTIAN and STEPHEN STILLS performing MOBILE LINE, especially STEPHEN'S guitar playing on his MARTIN D-45 acoustic guitar. Now for the highlight of the film, watching CROSBY STILLS NASH AND YOUNG performing SEA OF MADNESS is such a pleasure to listen. The guitar and organ riffs and harmony vocals bring this song to together. Plus, them performing DOWN BY THE RIVER sounds a whole lot better than NEIL YOUNG'S solo version, especially with STILLS AND YOUNG'S dual lead guitar, the harmony vocals (especially the 2 part harmony of STEPHEN AND NEIL that reminds me of MR. SOUL), and organ by NASH. This is a must have for all CSNY and WOODSTOCK fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars AN EXCELLENT ALBUM BY ELTON JOHN AND HIS BAND, August 21, 2007
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Caribou (Remastered) (Audio CD)
The first song THE ***** IS BACK is an excellent rock song is excellent guitar riffs, drums, bass guitar, THE TOWER OF POWER horn section, and female singers. Pinky is an excellent ballad with the acoustic guitar, piano, synthesizer, and harmony vocals by the band. GRIMSBY is another rock song with guitar and piano riffs, drums, and harmony vocals. DIXIE LILY is an excellent (I do not know how to describe its rhythm) railroad song with the ccoo choo train in the background. SOLAR PRESTIGE A GAMMON is not my favorite song on this album. YOU'RE SO STATIC kicks the album back into overdrive with the piano, guitar and bass guitar riffs, drums and THE TOWER OF POWER HORN section. The next song I'VE SEEN THE SAUCERS is the highlight of the orginal release. The pace of this song with the harmony vocals, drums, bass guitar, piano, synth, and guitar riffs is really cool. STINKER that also features the HAMMOND ORGEN by TOWER OF POWER'S CHESTER THOMPSOM (I wonder if this is the same guy that joined GENESIS as their drummer) and their horn section is an excellent rhythm and blues songs. DON'T LET THE SUN GO DOWN ON ME is a good ballad with features TONI TENILLE and several BEACH BOYS members on backing vocals. TICKING is an excellent solo piano ballad; however ELTON JOHN should have let his band sing the harmony vocals. Now for the bonus tracks. PINBALL WIZARD has become my favorite song on this remastered edition. This song sounds so much better any of THE WHO'S version. I love ELTON JOHN'S singing and piano playing throughout the song, along with DAVEY'S guitar playing, NIGEL'S drum playing, DEE'S bass guitar playing, and new comer RAY COOPER'S congo playing (also throughout the album which I forgot to mention). I used to wonder if he rerecorded this song with THE WHO or his own band. PETE TOWNSHEND should have played the acoustic guitar on this song. SICK CITY is and excellent rock song with excellent guitar and piano riffs, harmony vocals, drums and bass guitar. COLD MOUNTAIN HIGHWAY is an excellent song has excellent organ riffs throughout the song, but I don't like the way it changes its pace. And last but not least is the holiday classic, STEP INTO CHRISTMAS. This album is a must have for all ELTON JOHN fans, especially those who want the CHRISTMAS hit to their holiday collection. I also love the way they restored the liner notes for all their albums. PS, Anybody can *****, ELTON JOHN.

5.0 out of 5 stars "BOUT TIME THIS GOT PUT ON DVD, August 16, 2007
This review is from: Live From Toronto (Audio CD)
This is the best concert that THE WHO has ever performed, and I am so glad that this is finally been released as a CD/DVD package. I bought this as soon as I saw it for under $20 at Wal-Mart. PETE TOWNSHEND'S guitar sounds outstanding and he can certainly swing the living daylights out of his arm, JOHN ESTWINSTLE'S bass guitar really stands out, and ROGER DALTREY'S vocals and microphone swinging (especially when he swings in into PETE'S guitar cord at the beginning of 5:15) really shine. PETE and JOHN singing really shine too. Plus, ex-SMALL FACES drummer KENNEY JONES really knows how to play them drums. He may not be wild like the late KEITH MOON, but he should not be considered as only a replacement drummer. Also, TIM GORMAN keyboard playing and harmony singing make their music sound like the studio version. All of their songs on this cd and dvd package sound a whole lot electrifying then the studio version. It is really a plain shame that the 1973 double album "QUADUAPHENIA" was never performed live in its entirely the same year this concert was performed.

5.0 out of 5 stars OUTSTANDING HORROR/COMEDY MOVIE, November 21, 2006
This review is from: Fangs (DVD)
If you like horror movies that are not so scary or violent and have more comedy, this movie is definitely a must have. Here we have a a heard of genetically mutanted bats that escape from a university lab in SCOTTSVILLE, CALIFORNIA and fly on a blood thirsty rampage. Out to stop the bats are TRACY NELSON and the WHIPPIN' HUBLEY who get off to an extremely bad start. However, as they investigate the attacks together, they fortunately fall in love and marry. TRACY NELSON who was once a battered and murdered housewife, sister of ISSABELLA HOFMMAN who wanted justice for the death, in "THE PROMISE" is now gracefully resurrected as the fiesty local detective (also moved from LOS ANGELES) who does not tolerate "the contamination of evidence with WHATEVER!!!!!". The WHIPPIN' HUBLEY was once a F14 FIGHTER in TOP GUN with TOM CRUISE and then an elite team member led by STEPHEN SEAGAL in EXECUTIVE DECISION. Now he is the local veteranrian, part-time animal control worker, who does not tolerate being called the town "DOGCATCHER?!?!?!?!?". With extra help from the veteranian's daughter KATIE STUART and her ENGLISH boyfriend LUKAS BEHNKEN who are both documentering the attacks, can they stop these attacks before it's too late? Watch and find out. And whatever happens, don't light "A FLARE!!!!!"

4.0 out of 5 stars AN EXCELLENT ALBUM THAT RECAPTURES TO CLASSIC SOUND OF THE WHO, April 1, 2006
This review is from: It's Hard [Remastered] (Audio CD)
However, I prefer the FACE DANCES album that features more upbeat sound to their music. The first song ATHENA sounds a lot like the classic WHO. It features excellent horns by bass guitarist JOHN ENTWISTLE, along with the acoustic and electric guitar by PETE TOWNSHEND who sings a verse on this song, lead vocal by ROGER DALTREY, and excellent drum playing by ex-SMALL FACES drummer KENNEY JONES. The style and arrangement of JOHN'S IT'S YOUR TURN, featuring ANDY FAIRWEATHER-LOW playing rhythm guitar, sounds a lot like their HAD ENOUGH from the 1978 WHO ARE YOU album. The fast-paced COOKS COUNTY is excellent with the vocals, keyboards, drums, and bass guitar, but the sound of PETE guitar could be better on this and other songs. The title track DANGEROUS, EMINENCE FRONT, and CRY IF YOU WANT are good, but the live versions sound a whoel lot better since PETE'S guitar and JOHN'S bass guitar sound more electrifying, the vocals are stronger, and the drums sound more powerful. I'VE KNOWN NO WAR is excellent with the violin from the song THE DIRTY JOBS, the guitar riffs, drums, and the bass guitar. ONE LIFE'S ENOUGH is an OK piano ballad with ROGER'S singing, and the synthesizers by PETE and TIM GORMAN who would play on their farewell tour in 1982. JOHN'S ONE AT A TIME is an excellent rock song with his singin and horn playing, and KENNEY'S drum playing, PETE'S guitar riffs, and the synthesizers by JOHN and TIM. WHY DID FALL FOR THAT is a good song, but my favorite. The slow-paced song A MAN IS A MAN is my favorite son on this album, and CRY IF YOU WANT is an excellent rock song with the harmony vocals, drums, bass guitar, keyboard and guitar riffs. The live version of this song has an outstanding guitar solo at the end. This is the last studio album that KENNEY would play on. I also do not understand why the remastered copy of this album and FACE DANCES do not have the lyrics of the songs like the orginal cd and lp version had. I would recommand this album for all fans of THE WHO.
