5.0 out of 5 stars FASCINATING!, January 4, 2015
Seasoned author Stepanie Waters has written many books on Colorado history; from intriguing stories steeped in history, to haunting and chilling ghost stories of Colorado. This gal really knows her stuff!

This book, like her other books; is extremely well researched, and the stories are historically accurate and well-documented. The author is a native Coloradoan as well as a true Colorado history buff.

You can tell that the author has a passion for what she does and for what she writes, and that she absolutely LOVES Colorado history. You can actually "feel" her enthusiasm for these true fascinating stories as you read this book. This trait, in turn, is so alluring to readers, as she instantly grips your attention through her fascinating true tales. The readers just can't help but be hooked!

This book is definitely an intriguing read! I highly recommend this book to all people who love Colorado and our state's fascinating (albeit sometimes dark, twisted, as well as delightfully morbid~) history!

Enjoy!

1.0 out of 5 stars NOT BUILT TO LAST, July 23, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
If I had reviewed this belt soon after getting it ~ I would have rated it five stars *****...

I bought this leather belt for my husband just shy of 3 months ago for him to wear to work

Wanting to save money, I thought that the reviews seemed pretty good and that the belt looked like a good deal.

WRONG.

It's not a good deal if it the belt doesn't even last 3 months...

Already - (and not even 3 months after purchasing the belt) ~ this leather belt has started chafing and flaking off around the belt holes.

It is pretty noticeable.

And it hasn't even seen a lot of wear.

My husband doesn't wear it every day ~ but he alternates between this belt and a couple of other belts.

So, actually, NO STARS for quality and longevity of this product.

It is made in China.

VERY DISAPPOINTING.

I am going to try to find a belt somewhere that is MADE IN THE USA.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nutrigold D3 Gold Softgels: Made in the USA ~ great quality product ~ I am very pleased!, March 1, 2012

I am very pleased with this product.: Nutrigold's Vitamin D3 Gold. The shipping was fast, and my order came with a Nutrigold vitamin catalog.

I think that this product is a very good buy for the money. 360 Vitamin D3 Softgels....that's a lot!

I really like the fact that the little Softgels are SO small.....they are very easy to swallow.

And ~ these Softgels are MADE IN THE USA. That seems to be harder and harder to find these days.

...Nutrigold seems to be a trusted company; with good and effective products....made in the USA!!

I highly recommend these Softgels; and yes, I would definitely buy them again!

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT!!!, February 6, 2010
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Excellent reference for old west saloons, bars, taverns, & pubs in Colorado!!

A really neat book. The author features great B&W photos of each saloon.

In addition, she also talks about the history of the saloons.

What's really cool about this book, and which is different from a lot of other comparable books out there, is that the author actually visited each and every one of the saloons listed in the book.

I like the fact that the author has many historical old saloons listed that I have never even heard of before; such as: The Buck Snort Saloon in Sphinx Park, Bruce's Bar in Severance, Doc Holliday's Saloon in Glenwood Springs, Pine Gables in Green Mountain Falls, Gus' Tavern and the Coor's Tavern in Pueblo.

She also features: The Golden Bee and the Phantom Canyon Brewing Company in Colorado Springs, Kate's in Canon City, Zeke's Place in Victor, Buckhorn Exchange and Wyncoop Brewery in Denver, the Hungry Toad in Boulder, the Old Town Pub and the Tugboat Grill & Pub in Steamboat Springs, Antler's Bar in Yampa, Little Bear Tavern in Evergreen, The Red Ram in Georgetown, the Gold Coin Saloon and the Face Bar (at the Teller House) in Central City, Buffalo Bar & Grill in Idaho Springs, Silver Dollar Saloon in Leadville, Victoria Tavern in Salida, Red Onion in Aspen, Old miner's Inn in Creede, Kochevar's in Crested Butte, Diamond Belle Saloon and Handlebars Saloon in Durango.

FYI: Keep in mind that this book was published in 1995. So, some of these places may no longer be operating, etc.....

Currently, I know that the Red Onion in Aspen is currently closed (hopefully only temporarily).

I hope that the author writes an update to this book; and perhaps also add some new saloons that were not featured in the 1st edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars SUPERB!!!, February 6, 2010
I love this book. It is very well researched; as well as being a very fascinating read. It also is a great reference to find historic sites in Colorado. I really enjoyed this book. I rate it right up there along the lines of Colorado history books by expert historians such as Tom Noel and Phil Goodstein. This book is on my 'Colorado books' bookshelf, right alongside Noel's and Goodstein's.

Highly recommended!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hauntingly beautiful book, June 12, 2009
Great book- lovely color photos of each castle. Very well-researched book. The author really did a great and very thorough job. I love the fact that the author adds in some known hauntings of some of the castles. Some that I didn't even know myself! I was very impressed with this book. Highly recommended.

This book is a beautiful book with really neat photos of postcards and prints. Anyone who looks at the front cover, or who opens up the book can see that there is a lot of history and old photos (the postcards) of many, many historical locations in the Estes Park/RMNP area. Absolutely fascinating book-- I could not put it down.

128 pages. A virtual tour of the region, featuring more than 300 vintage postcards and prints

Note "Illustrated with 300 historical postcards, photographs & ephemera"--T.p.

~~~~ Summary Vintage postcards, photographs, tourist brochures, etc., illustrate the scenic Circle Tour over Rocky Mountain National Parks Trail Ridge Road, through the Big Thompson canyon, the towns and rustic lodges along the way.
ISBN 9780764328480
I HIGHLY recommend this book!!!
If you are into Colorado history, and would like to familiarize yourself with the history of Estes Park and surrounds, then you will LOVE this book! In this book you will see many historic lodges and old buildings... many that were built over 100 + years ago (Including the historic Stanley Hotel.)
