1.0 out of 5 stars True Capacity: 32GB, May 30, 2014
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've been using this card since Nov 2013 as extra storage on an older laptop, which had no problems with it and showed it with the full 64GB capacity. However, once the storage used passed 32GB, the card became unreliable and eventually could not even be formatted. Using the SDFormatter 4.0 application from the SD foundation, I was finally able to format the card, but maximum capacity is now 28GB (same as a 32GB card after formatting). Clearly this is one of those cards that are formatted incorrectly for a higher capacity in order to sell for an extra few bucks. Beware of data loss and back up frequently!

3.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy rack, but mounting holes are non-standard?, January 12, 2012
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Bought this to mount a Yamaha FB01 and a Boss SE-50 on a standard 18-space rack. The units fit fine (it could easily hold two FB01s, which are a millimeter or two larger than standard half-rack), although I'll have to use velcro to prevent them from sliding back when using the front panel buttons. The real problem is that the mounting holes seem to be spaced incorrectly. I'm not sure if this is standard to all UNS1s or if mine has some sort of manufacturing defect (although it doesn't appear to have any issues otherwise), but I can only mount it via one screw on either side. My rack contains several other units, all of which mount snugly against each other without issue, so I'm sure that isn't the problem. The rack is strong enough to hold the units though, and the FB01 seems to require a little more headroom anyway, so I've mounted it with the lower pair of holes and it's completely stable. Just be warned that, for the truly anal-retentive, it may not be an ideal solution.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quick, Easy, Convenient & Delicious, November 9, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've been looking for a prepared Japanese curry product that had the same taste as the beef curry they used to serve at my favorite Ramen shop, before they stopped selling it (I guess I was the only one who would order it). This is about as close as I've found to it, and it's incredibly easy to make. Makes a great quick lunch out of the microwave with some rice, or you can add in some cooked meat (great use of leftovers!) and make a full meal of it. They also say that you can put it over spaghetti or some other cooked pasta, but that's just a little too strange for me to try.

This also works extremely well for camping since it's boil-in-bag and hermetically sealed, or could just be something to keep in the pantry for the long term. It says "HOT" but if you've ever tried other types of Japanese-style curry, the scale of mild to hot is incredibly weak, with mild flavors coming closer to a sort of gravy and hot flavors not even reaching the level of the blandest Indian curry. House Hot curry is very heavy on the apple and is rather sweet, but there's certainly enough spice to make it tastier than the milder flavors and there are a surprisingly large number of veggies for such a small pouch. I'll definitely be ordering another batch once I've gone through the current one.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad for the price., August 30, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Particle board with plastic finish and plastic parts, as one would expect for a $20 set of shelves. The setup is dead easy and done by hand, the shelves are pretty solidly built so long as your plastic bits aren't defective and how tightly you put it together. If the parts are defective, they provide an easy return method so you can get it right. Makes a nice small set of shelves for dorm rooms, smaller bedrooms, maybe an end-table next to a couch. Great buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent subscription order, August 28, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've been buying these once every three months or so for the past year and a half. They work very, very well, although it depends heavily upon the initial fit molding. The larger guard usually lasts me about a month and a half to two months before my grinding has started to tear apart the soft plastic and make it uncomfortable, while the smaller one lasts about a month or so before the plastic becomes worn a bit too thin. I'm sure that it depends greatly on how much and how hard you grind at night, but the price is still very low compared to the cost of getting a permanent night-guard, especially if you're like me and haven't had your wisdom teeth out yet. Also, if your biggest issue with grinding is the headaches and neck muscle-aches you get the next day, the soft plastic of the larger guard can, if it's fit well, let you get a wonderful night's sleep. The smaller one isn't quite as good, but certainly works well enough to last you until your replacements arrive once the larger guard has worn out.

3.0 out of 5 stars When they say "Mild" they mean it., August 28, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Ordered this because I've enjoyed Japanese-style curry when I can find it, and used Golden Curry in the past to make it at home. Never found the mild variety here, so I ordered this along with the medium-hot (which I haven't tried yet). The mild is hardly even a curry in terms of flavor, it's more like an extremely thick sort of gravy. It's not bad by any measure, but it's hardly worth picking up if you're a fan of Japanese curry. Go for something with higher heat, unless you've got kids around with sensitive taste-buds or something like that.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great taste & cheap to make, August 28, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Ordered this mix (Harvest Vegetable) on a whim, and I'm very happy with it. The recipe advises two tablespoons of mix with a cup of sour cream and a cup of mayo, but that was far too much dip and the flavor didn't come through quite as much as I'd have liked. Next time, I'll do two tablespoons with a half cup of each. That said, it goes very well with vegetables (carrots and celery specifically) and crackers, probably not the best with chips given how thick the dip is. Excellent product, will try more varieties in the future.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice, mild form of kratom, July 10, 2011
Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I tried kratom in leaf form last year, enjoyed using it as an herbal tea or chewing the leaves. I rather enjoyed the taste, unlike many other people apparently (perhaps it's a bit like cilantro on that?), and the effects were limited to a mellower caffeine-style upper and a nice analgesic effect on my various aches after a long day at work moving boxes and so on. These capsules are actually a bit milder, which is a shame because it means I have to take several of them to achieve the same effects. That said, they do quite well as a pick-me-up and for headaches/muscle aches (great for hangovers).

The only real problem as I see it is that, with the recommended dosage between 2 and 6 pills and the effective dosage necessary perhaps even twice that (depending on variation in the kratom plants themselves, as with any herbal supplement), $21 winds up being far more expensive than you might expect. I purchased this item thinking that it would last me a few weeks, but I expect it won't go much more than one, due to the extremely high number of pills necessary to achieve any effect. Kratom doesn't work very well ingested outright, which is why one usually chews the leaves for the juice or boils it into tea, so don't order this expecting to get the same feeling one might find with the ultra-concentrated versions.

If the product were $15 with the same free shipping deal, I'd give it five stars and subscribe for regular purchases. As it is, I'll only buy again because having a few of these on hand while I'm doing heavy labor would be absolutely ideal.

2.0 out of 5 stars More like a band recommendation list, February 6, 2005
Really isn't anything beyond a list of records the author enjoys. Extremely noticable gaps in artist's careers (Focuses entirely on the "ambience" in Miles Davis' "Miles Ahead" and completely ignores the fusion years. Listen to Summertime and then listen to Yesternow. How is Summertime even remotely close to ambient?) and even completely lacking artists (If the Residents don't qualify for "Eskimo" but Jimi Hendrix does for "Electric Ladyland" then I've been grossly misinformed).

Book has almost nothing to do with Ambient music as a genre and everything to do with the records the author enjoys. All Music Guide does just as well at explaining it and that's just plain sad. Interesting only for fairly good record recommendations to new fans, and perhaps those interested in production.

Metropolis

2.0 out of 5 stars The Barebones edition, only reason to buy is price., April 20, 2004
This review is from: Metropolis (DVD)
I picked this DVD up at a local store, because I've been meaning to see the movie and it was quite cheap. It's the original 1927 theater cut (I couldn't tell you if the tinting was added later or not), which means it's only a small part of Lang's masterpeice. The plot is, as it was, choppy and hard to follow without reading up on the movie itself. The scenes that were cut seem to have been important, in that you get the general gist of the story with this truncated version, but there are things you won't pick up on unless you watch it repeatedly.
It's a poor version of the classic, but the price is right. If you want to see the masterpeice, buy the restored, authorized edition as was recommended above. If you want to watch a mildly entertaining silent film that sounds like the soundtrack was put together by the Residents, this is for you.
